what type stroke fits catalina style putters (double bend shafts)

question on a Cameron catalina 2....... what type stroke fits putters with double bend shafts like this? is this considered face balanced? trying to make sense of what im seeing ....Ive never had a putter like this ...usually plumbers neck...and lately flowneck style newports....

 

 

this all started with a putter fitting where I was informed that a 33inch putter was too short for me..(6ft2) fitted for 35...so I bought a 35 inch Newport 2.5....putted better with it but still not very consistant... however I did get used to and like the longer length and more upright posture it provided.... fast forward 3 months and I ran across a California Monterey flowneck and thought I was in love... used it in a recent tournament and 3 putted 7 greens....just had zero distance control....was/is much heavier than any putter ive used....

fast forward to this week and I found out the Monterey had ( I took it apart to figure out the weight) im guessing close to 100 grams of powder in the shaft....but my mind says that putter is cursed and ive yet to reassemble it.... this round of 3 putts has sent me off my axis in search of a putter that fits my eye.... Ill sell all the rest (except my 33/350 Newport) if and when I find "the one" so I pull out the mint (brand new) oil can catalina 2 35 inch putter I had hoarded away....ive rolled it for the last 2 days and its like I never putted before..( in a good way) .. It just looks like I can make anything...my misses end up 6 inches from the cup one side or another , distance control from anywhere seems to be automatic....

 

Now before someone says it im fully aware and versed on the honeymoon period.... and Im very pessimistic in that respect... BUT so far its the best honeymoon period ive ever had with any club.... Ive never been a putter "ho" I actually used the same one 14 years before the fitting....but now if I set up to the 33 inch one I used so long it feels foreign , as in too short.... Ive thought of lengthening it to 35...but this catalina is on my good side so im going to see what happens....

 

so back to my original questions....what type stroke does the double bend shaft putters preform well with? Im curious as to why I love the look and feel so much....if it matters I have a slight arc to my stroke..never straight back straight through....and a standard hand position grip and always on a standard size full cord...any thought? am I nuts ? (wife says yes)

Maybe it's the length and not the kind of shaft....leaning over the ball with a short shaft would be more conducive to a straight back and forth stroke, having a shorter radius from shoulder to putter head.
....a longer shaft, a longer radius, would be more likely to encourage an arc...it's about geometry....that's my theory at least.

makes sense... in a way..but to me putting as a rule has never "made sense" no lesson, drill or theory ive ever read has worked better than my own natural feel..... but that's now what has been messed with....nothing feels "natural" anymore....

You ever been on iPing? Not trying to deter you from your Scotty but could give some insight into what you are feeling with numbers to back it up since the app can be used with any putter.

I use a double bend and mine is super stable... Straight back and straight through...

It may not be the ideal putter for my stroke... But I don't miss a lot so go figure..

This "I use this type of stroke so I should use this type of head/shaft style" is just a myth. Use what you like the look of and can make putts with. When it no longer works (YMMV), you toss it aside and get another one that will work for the next X number of rounds. FWIW, my wife has been threatening me with that very sentiment.

lol....33 inch putter was and is a long story...had it since I was 20 years old.....now 34....played same clubs for ever till I found this damn site..... its all downhill form here

I have a lot of 34" putters but 'choke down' to 33"....my back feels better when I take fewer putts and make more of them...

I find a single bend confusing - I like centre shaft. A double bend just freaks my brain out. I like things simple in putters.
