Aldila Rogue

Aldila's Rogue is engineered utilizing extremely exotic, high-performance composite materials typically incorporated into only high-performance military and satellite projects. Aldila is one of the first companies to have access to the material for commercial use.

The Rogue has already earned 7 wins on the PGA Tour in its 1st year of tour use, and has been the number 1 driver shaft model on the PGA Tour in 22 consecutive tournaments.

The Rogue's design employs extremely expensive, extremely stiff, coal-tar based carbon fibers, known as Graphitic Carbon, that are typically used for aerospace applications (satellites, etc.) where extreme stiffness and ultra-lightweight are required. This fiber is twice as stiff as any material Aldila has used in any shaft the past. The tensile modulus (stiffness) is 125 million pounds per square inch (msi) – hence the "125 MSI" in the shaft graphics. Typical carbon fibers, historically used in golf shafts, range from 33 msi to 65 msi. In layman's terms, the material is four times stiffer than steel but less than a third of the weight. The Rogue shaft employs this material for two main purposes, first, to lower the torque of the shaft due to the extreme stiffness of the material, and to move the shaft balance point upward toward the grip end of the shaft (counterbalance), utilizing the higher density of graphitic carbon when compared to common PAN based carbon.

The Rogue shaft is built on Aldila's ultra-successful new "TOUR" platform using the same tapered tooling and Nex Gen Micro-Laminate Technology that provide the exceptional performance of the number one shaft models on Tour, the Aldila Tour Green and Tour Blue shafts. By incorporating graphitic carbon into the "TOUR" shaft design platform, Aldila is able to make the shaft stiffer and lower torque without adding weight. At the same time, the placement of the material in top third of the shaft (grip end) allows Aldila to counterbalance the shaft to work well with today's heavier driver heads and the longer length of modern drivers.

might want to change the title. A shaft called Rouge doesn't inspire power and confidence.

This has to be a WRX first. The name of the shaft playing a role in power and confidence.

You can custom order this shaft with your name silk screen on it from my shop.

Purchase from an authorized dealers will not have a warranty and risk of getting a fake one or a non sale item with no warranty. Customer should get all the authentication paper work.

"Purchase from an authorized dealers will not have a warranty and risk of getting a fake on".

that doesn't sound right... No warranty and risk of fakes even from authorized dealers???

Here are from the horse mouth " The “legal” Rogues sold through authorized distributors will come with a certificate of authenticity. The other way to tell the difference is that the Rogues on Tour that are sold out the “backdoor” do not say “Made in the U.S.A”, have more extensive laser etching, and have a slightly different serialization badge".

Hope that help the consumers!

From my 1 round test and 1 driving range session...yes it's a mid launch shaft lower spin character. The smooth feel with awesome extra kick at impact are very distinctive. The 90 tons material really give a sturdy consistent performance. I tipped mine 1/2", don't feel boardy at all, it's perfect feel for my taste and can work it both ways.

It's one of those shaft that has easy feel in my hands when I just wiggle it before even do a full swing.

Hope that help!

Joe

The butt diameter seems really large. If you're used to .580 on .600 with just the 1 standard wrap, how do you get a shaft to feel normal when the butt is .645?

Obviously really popular in the heavier heads due to the counter-balance.

I wanna post this pm here to let members know my answer are, so it won't have a repeat questions...Plus I prefer email or post it here.

"Hi Joe,

Would I be able to send you my club to have work performed on it?
If so, here is my dilemma.

I have struggled with getting enough carry with my fairway wood. I have purchased a non-pro x hot 4 wood and was curious as to what work could be done on it. I do like the open face on the pro version, but wanted something with a little larger footprint. Are you able to bend the face open on the x hot's?

If you are able to bend the face open(I believe that the effective loft will go down, which is fine), then would you be able to get the swingweight to D5.5? I was wondering because the club is between D0 and D1 right now(it does have the Project X pro version shaft in it and plays at about 43.5 length). I have an AD DI 8s that I would like to drop in it(this one played to 43 inches in the Adams XTD 3T) and have it play at 43 or just under, but I don't really know what to do about the swingweight.

From what I've read, Callaway uses a tip weight in the shafts for the X hot fairways to get the swingweight heavier. I don't know if adding a lot of weight in the tip or hot-melting would mess the tip stiffness or feel of the shaft?

I do not see a hole in the bottom of the head for adding hot-melt, but you might be able to drill it and plug it.

I apologize for the long, rambling email, but are you able to do this?

Here's a recap if you don't want to re-read:
1. Can you bend a X hot fairway to open face?
2. Can you add that much swingweight(hot-melting or tip weight) without effecting the bend or feel of the shaft?

Thanks"

It looks like he doesn't know what I do and how far I can do things with golf club :).

I'm gonna answer the main questions here. Bending or shimming the x2 hot head open is not a problem. Any swing weight can be done properly with hot melt through the hosel (no need to hack it by drilling a hole on the sole) after the shaft pulled, but tipping the shaft properly is a must to get a proper flex at D5.5sw.
You can try to use 600 core grip or even the 560 if you are so worry about the size. I use double tape on 580, now I use 600 single wrap tape with no problem. You can even use a hair spray on 600 core to make it even thinner without double tape. Gotta be creative :).

O club, ocean course today with 12 fairways (7 dead center) and 1 in the right rough, 1 lost balls due to my stupidity on 11th...definitely a shaft that has lots of feel in your hands to make a shots. I'm getting the hang of it for sure. No problem left, right, low and high shots. I wouldn't be surprise this shaft gained a lot of popularity on tour.

My 2 cents!

Joe
