Aldilla ROGUE info specs and pictures. TOUR limited version!

I saw one of the Tour Limited versions over the weekend, the ones that come with the COA. They do not have the graphics "etched" and are painted like the Titleist versions that I assume to be the same (I have not seen one in hand). I have to assume after seeing these, that that are all the exact same thing. All of the Rogue's that I have that are from a tour dept. of some sort have the etched graphics but even the really $$$ COA'd version have the painted on graphics, thinking the Titliest must be the same and at a hell of a deal. It just makes no sense that it would be different, the only thing that throws me off is the crazy price difference.
I think the upcharge price is where there is the big confusion. Titleist virtually never charges under retail for an upgraded shaft, and even if this comes to retail at the regular Rogue pricing, that is still $285..so the $155 is just so out of the ordinary for them to charge that low...it just begs to be questioned. And the whole sticker issue just adds more fuel to the theories out there. Don't get me wrong, if it is the same great, just still not sure unless I can hit one side by side. And people can say well 'Titleist said 'this'' and Aldila customer service said this....but in my mind, until Aldila comes on here and says, Hey, here is the low down...I just can't grasp them being the same. Just my opinion.

Agreed on the price differences. To be fair, I haven't hit or seen the Titleist version, only the tour issue and COA'd versions. Also, we're placing a lot of credibility on customer service reps who I doubt have the information people on here are seeking in terms of answers.

placed an order for 125 from titliest today for TS. Hit TX over the weekend and the shaft is best I've ever played with. TX is just a little too stout for my swing 108-109's. I was told the TS is a limited run shaft and no longer available. Anyone else hearing that?
Delt did you go with the x? Untipped prob be fine I would think. Idk. Hate to hear that about the TS.

I posted this pages back by now but I was told "same shaft" before I could even get the question out by customer service on the phone which was a little odd. I can't believe something would leave a US factory with a made in somewhere else sticker on it so I don't buy that. Same shaft with equal or lesser quality control I can buy. Fwiw I was quoted $300 for shaft only from titleist without a club purchase, it's the upcharge price thats killer. Picking mine up tomorrow tour laser etched whatever that means. It's going in a volt colored rocketballz so I can hit all the stereotypes with one club.

@ Swiz - even at $300 for the shaft only, that's less than half the LE price, right?

You would think a company like titleist would probably buy thousands of shafts if not 100s of thousands of aldilas therefore the price would be much much cheaper as compared to a supplier who might only carry a few at best, this might explain the price discrepancy between the shafts.titleist probably gets most of their shafts for next to nothing

NO OEM pays much of anything for the shafts they get from the shaft companies....but they upcharge almost to 'retail' for most all in demand shafts. And since Aldila and Titleist have already said that the 125msi is more expensive to make, since the material is not as abundant and not in great supply, that is where all the red flags come up. Limited Edition with COA is like $500-600 for shaft alone...so given all that has been said about the materials needed to make these and how hard they should be to come by, it seems very odd that one OEM can get 1000's of these with no issue, as you are eluding too, and still charges less than almost any other shaft they offer for an upgrade. just my .02.

bjno--- My golf shop was going to call back and confirm the details. Thought I would check here and see if anyone else was hearing this. My shop wasn't overly impressed with who they were talking too. Honestly, with the smaller upcharge that is why I was going to go with the 125. I'll probably drop back to the 110 (S) and thinking I'm going to tip it just a little bit.

With the X- I sure couldn't hit it left but was just a little too much stick for me. Amazing how different shafts react but I hit the black 95 in an X and do to my late release I couldn't square that thing back up and all where going short and right.

Agree. Origin stickers are put on for a reason. If it says "Made in Vietnam" I'll take that to mean it was made in Vietnam. Crazy I know.

Scratch - I heard the Vietnam 125's came over on a plane that was shot down by an RPG. Luckily Brian Williams was there and brought the shipment to shore using a make shift raft out of dolphins and 2 seat cushions.

Here is what I think.... First run 125's were made in the US, not all of them were the same because they were proto's. Then they made the limited release which was the final proto so all of them were the same as one of the proto's (this is what Pure has in his SLDR), these were also made in the US and the ones that generally cost $700 with the rubber like, raised paint. Then they took that proto and sent the design over seas to be made for retail, this is what Titleist is selling as the upgrade. Same design, same specs as the $700 but made in a different factory and by different machines.

This is the most logical explanation. Beyond that, there have been many posts on here asking Aldila to respond, but no answers. I think that the only way we will know is if someone "in the know" from Aldila chimes in here with an explanation and not just a statement that, "they are the same."

I agree, that makes sense. I don't have a dog in the race though, since I'm stuck with the measly 110 MSI version that comes in the 915's stock :D . I'd feel pretty bad for the retailers that have stock in the limited run version for big bucks if Aldila moved them overseas and is now going to sell them for 1/4 to half of the price.

All that being said, I'd like to try the 125 and see how it compares to the 110. I'm hitting my 110 really well and can't complain but sometimes it feels just a touch too beefy.

This response is what could be troubling...

I'd feel pretty bad for the retailers that have stock in the limited run version for big bucks if Aldila moved them overseas and is now going to sell them for 1/4 to half of the price.

I have the 110msi from my DBD, and it is a great shaft...but is day-in-day-out being out performed by my 125msi TX....just not close. So if the production was moved overseas to be mass produced on the machines and the tolerances are going to be different then the handmades here in the US, it should be told outright, mainly so those who went above the norm and bought the Limited's will know that there very well COULD BE a difference in overall performance. I think we have all hit the 'same' shaft in numerous 'same' heads and some just don't feel right, the tolerances just don't seem as tight when mass produced.

Scratch, I agree with your assessment, it makes sense. Aldila didn't think the shaft would be this successful, thus the 2 run's on Tour and then the Limited run, but when it took off all bets were off. But we were told on here by an Aldila company rep I believe that they were indeed limited due to the 125msi pitch being in short supply and very expensive, so I would be curious to know what will be supplementing it in the mass produced version to make it match the specs. Guarantee the high demand didn't make it cheaper!

Worse thing that could happen is it shows up on Golfworks for $285 like the 110msi, or even $350-400 and it is being touted as the same.

Yes, if you pay people in Vietnam to make the same shaft as a laborer here, you can sell it at a huge discount and the shaft could be the same. There are plenty of reasons why the same shaft could be sold cheaper.

And the same rationale could be applied to the same shaft being not made within the same tolerances over here in a limited capacity like the first runs were. I believe 50 in each of the first runs, so very limited and controlled process in building.

This could go either way, could be solved very easily...just need a voice that KNOWS for sure what is going on to clear it up.

I am going to be honest and say I have only read bits and pieces in this thread but I had emailed Aldila about the difference in the 125's a couple weeks ago and this is what was sent back......
The Limited Edition Rogue is made in our R&D facility in San Diego. The 125 MSI that is available in the Titleist driver, is made in our plant in Vietnam. Spec wise, they are very similar. We hope this helps you out.

Looks like this person was saying there is a difference even though it is a small difference.
