Am I the only one playing Ping Rapture 3 wood?

I picked up a 2013 13 degree Ping Rapture 3 wood the other week. All I can say is "wow". I have played three rounds with it and it is a dream, even off the fairway. It has a great look at adress and a great sound coming from the over-size head.

I had a lesson and my pro, who had never seen one, hit it. He then said: "yep, I'd buy that".

I know they are expensive (I did get a bit of a deal on mine) but I am still surprised, now I have hit it, that I have never seen anyone with one. That even goes for the pros (at least based on the WITBs I have seen).

Did they really mess up the pricing so much that no one is prepared to pay the price (given the alternatives of SLDR mini or X Hot 3 deep)? If so, do you think they will bring out a new cheaper version?

Mine is going to say in the bag for a long time, but why am I alone?

I think price has a lot to do with it considering most shops have one floor model at most, sometimes none at all. Im confident that its a great club, but I have never bothered hitting one because its way out of my price range. Even the used rack raptures are only like 10% discounted from a new one.

How do you like it off the fairway? Is there another fairway youve used that you can compare it too off the deck? Ive always thought it was more of a driver replacement on the tee. but if it performs just as good off the deck, and a deal pops up, id take another look at one.

I have one and I like it a lot. A month ago I played a hilly course with narrow fairways, and after a couple of holes I used it just about exclusively for tee shots. Before that I would put it in the bag for certain difficult tee shots on a couple of the other courses that I play.

I tried putting it in the hickory bag one day for tee shots, but that didn't go so well. Might try it again with a G25 5-wood and hickory irons, though.

It is a really nice club with a nice feel, and for a couple of players that I played with who don't hit driver (because they get more out of a fairway wood), it was a great club. IF the price were more reasonable, Ping would sell a lot more.

Mine is a keeper.

I play one and it really is amazing. Crazy long and straight even off of Fairway. There is a Rapture 3w lovefest thread somewhere. Congrats. Its a beast.

I have recently played the 913fd and a G25. I think the Rapture is somewhere between the two. I wasn't comfortable hitting the G25 in rough but strangely given the larger head find the Rapture pretty good. It has a nice penetrating flight like the 913fd.

In looking up rapture 3 woods, it looks like there is an older model and they are still pricey and the new model that almost made me swallow my tongue. I am keeping my eye out for a 2013 model now. I have heard good things but the price always made me not look at them twice.

I have one and i love it. Great off the tee, nearly as long as my driver and more accurate. I had trouble with the shaft, until I smoothed out my transition. Now the thing is a cannon. Now that fall is here, on windy days I will replace my driver with it all together.

Yeah, it was expensive, but I don't turn over clubs all that much and it will pay for itself in fairways hit in its lifetime.

I put mine into play last week as a driver replacement - hit 12 of 14 fairways - just as long as my driver. Had a net 68 and won the monthly medal. Definitely a keeper. It is a very good looking club as well and oozes quality. Didn't hit if off the fairway as I had no need to but I have done so at the range with no worries. If you are struggling with your driver - get one - their worth it.

Haven't played mine yet. I ordered mine with the speeder 757 shaft. Can't wait to give her a go next weekend. It hit me for 700 though.

I picked up an original Rapture 3W & 5W a couple of months ago and they're great. Maybe 6-7 years from now, I'll be picking up the new Raptures for $35. If I'm lucky.

i said from the beginning, it better be a lot better then other 13 degree 3 woods for me to look at it.

I own 2 Cobra 13 degree woods. A bio Cell and an Amp Cell. I paid 220$ combined for them. When i hit the Rapture i didn't hit it further then either of those clubs adjusted to 13 degrees, and it costs more then twice as much as what i paid for both clubs

I want one but I put together an original Rapture 3 wd to use. I had great success with the mini SLDR but it wasn't Ping so it had to go. I went with the OG rapture because of cost and because it was bigger then the new one. So far it's been a great club.

As I have said all along, value is in the eyes of the consumer. I love the club and had no problem paying for it. Guys pay through the nose for drivers and this club is nearly as long and, IMO, more versatile.

I've got one and I am a fan. Usually just hit it off the tee as I dont have a lot of call for 3 metal off the deck. Had a shot of around 270 into the wind on a par 5 the other day. Decided to pull it out and give it a whirl. Hit a low bullet that ended up about 10 yards off the green. Think it's good if you need a running shot with no trouble in front of you. I did replace the shaft as for some reason I kept topping the stock shaft. As soon as I replaced it the tops stopped. Put a kusala white shaft in it. Very pretty golf club

The head is too large for playing shots off the ground. That is why the current Rapture 3 wood (and its predecessor) do not sell well. As a tee box club it is outstanding, but most amateurs want to swing only a driver off of tee boxes, so there is not much use for a large headed 3 wood.

You are NOT alone. It is the only club in my bag that I feel will not be replaced anytime soon (if ever). It is damn near driver long. Makes me look better than I am. From the fairway and light rough it is just a flat out bomber for me. From deep rough not so good. It is such an "equalizer" for me. Guys who routinely outdrive me are surprised my three is right with or past them. I almost never use it from the tee. More like an insurance policy after a short drive on long par fours and helps me reach many par fives in regulation.

Most amateurs will find this club difficult to play off the fairway.Ths face is too deep for clean interaction. From the tee it is a bomber.

I love mine, It really demoralizes your playing partners when you roll one past their drivers with the Rapture. Lately I have been using it more than my driver and posting lower scores. No problem for me launching it off the fairway in the + setting. Its in the bag for sure next season.

I picked one up from my local shop on a trade in. I'm looking to replace the stock regular shaft with an x-stiff. I play the fubuki a x-stiff shaft in my g25 3 wood and a Zeus x-stiff in my g25 driver. Any suggestions on a shaft. I like the launch from the fairway with the fubuki but it gets too much spin off the tee and I dont get enough carry.
