Iron head size hasn’t been an issue, ping just make superb quality clubs and Taylormade make good clubs but my p790s look older than my g410s did after four years.

Definitely not an issue, more its noticable when you compare them. Granted i took a 7-8 year break from golf with the kids coming into the world, but they (g20) still look really good

Greetings everyone. This thread helped me climb aboard the G-Wagon. I played i3+ Blades for many years, went to Cleveland Launcher HB for a number of years - grew tired of the lack of feedback, and decided to go "modern" with another set of Pings. The G25s rose to the top few on many of the all-time favorites lists, so I went shopping. Found a 9/10 set of 4-W on eBay with graphite shafts and so far am enjoying them very much. Added a matching U iron and I'm set. 

 

Thanks to everyone here who's commented on the G series and the G25 in particular!

I'd an awesome year with the GMax. But because I'm a psychopath and there was a lovely set of G30s in great condition including all the wedges, I wanted to give them another go. I really do like the look of them. We'll be keeping the GMax in the closet for now in case I do notice a big difference in the mid irons.

Got a email today that my refinished G25 heads are on the way back to me. Ping got them last Friday and are shipping them back 5 business days later. That's service!

I just sent the heads. You can do either but I wanted to do some shaft work so I just pulled them.

I never found that.  They have the same, or near, loft spread as the Eye2's.

You will be very happy.  I had my G30’s done in 2021.  Came back brand new looking.  I sent mine in with the shafts and they put new shaft band stickers on too.  It’s a great service and finished product.

This is very true.  Did a refinish and reshaft and they came back looking like they did in 2016.

Got my G25's back and if I didn't know better I'd think they were new off the rack. Sorry about my picture taking ability but they were kind of rough and they are now flawless outside of my fingerprints.😄

If you go back a page in this thread, @braincramp52 mentioned "less than $200 for the set". 

 

Ping has discontinued restoration services on their "guyson" finish products, and it concerns me that they will stop entirely.  My local course is a dog track, though, and I can't justify sending my G30's in, because they will just get beat to crap in use.

This is making me want to get some g25s and have them refinished again. Were my favourite set of irons, had them over six years.

As for the G25 vs. G30 (these are also the last versions I liked), get the 25s bent strong for better gapping.  My last set was 24-28-32-36-40-44-49-54 ("5" through SW) with some Eye2 LW for around the greens.

The fairway wood is a bit shallower than I normally like, but the matte finish on them is incredible. I've barely ever hit a Ping fairway wood, which strikes me as odd given how much I have loved their irons over the years.

 

My course is shut at the moment due to bad weather so I'm going to need to be patient to wait to see how these feel. Excited!

I finally got the chance to play the G30 5 Wood and 4 Hybrid and I'm very impressed. I'm trying to cut down on the number of clubs I own so these have given me a problem! They feel so good through the ball. I can't quite get over how good this range was.

I think they’re largely phasing out the practice. They won’t refinish the G20s anymore, so that just leaves 25, 30, and G before you get to the hydropearl models that can’t be refinished. It’s too bad, it’s one of the coolest things they offer IMO.

Bummer bummer bummer.  G20's are raw stainless heads, no dark coloring, like the 25's and 30's.  I wonder why?  

 

Good news, you can refinish them yourself fairly easily, if you have a media blast cabinet and a grinder w/deburring wheel.  I've done several sets previous, like ie1 heads.  The dark finish is the trick, though, although, that's not critical.

Just got my g25s back today! They look absolutely brand new. Can’t wait to get them out in the spring.
