Nice and NICE!  I strongly suggest using some good acrylic adhesive, like 3M DP8410NS or DP810NS.  I've struggled with old ferrule-less Pings creaking after bonding, but the acrylic adhesive solves that problem.

I gamed them for 3 seasons.  2 seasons with retro lofts and another season with std lofts and never had an issue with gapping. 

 

I would allocate the yardages below for (std lofts), and take 5 yds off of that for the retro lofts.

Ping has discontinued restoration services on their "guyson" finish products, and it concerns me that they will stop entirely.  My local course is a dog track, though, and I can't justify sending my G30's in, because they will just get beat to crap in use.

I believe the guyson finish started with the i3 series.  You could also request it on the ISI, Zing 2, and Eye2+ if you didn't want the standard tumble finish.

Guyson finish looks shot peened.  They media blast with a largish particle.  Maybe cut wire pieces?

I might get some smoke for this, but those are some of the coolest looking irons ever!   I need a set!  How do they play?

Those are not mine, and I've never played with a set.  I did play Zing's, that my brother had, which are similar, and they were fun.  The sole is relatively thin, especially compared to most G irons.

Here are some pictures of my g25 irons that I just got back from Ping. I should have took pictures of them before I sent them in, but they were in rough condition, especially the 8 iron and PW.

I've had a set of the copper and nickels but I never got along with them. My swing didn't like the soles.

I had Ping do them. I’ll check them in the spring when I try them.

cool. Wasn’t sure if they could do it without being shafted but I suppose they have that ability.

Ball fitting note: G25 irons and 2022 Bridgestone XVS = a very nice pairing that provides the ball flight and green side/putter feel I've been looking for. Currently $32/dozen at various places. Just ordered 4 more boxes.

 

They hold up well too. Unfortunately they respond to bodies of water like everything else 😜

G430 or G730?  And why?

That's an interesting one @Lobber. I think I'd go G430 due the size of head. There doesn't seem to be a huge difference at least visually to me.

 

I wonder if the G440 and G730 will make more sense as a pair.

Thanks and the G430 are less expensive now also.   New Year, new approach to the game?  At 68 it may be time to put the ego in the garage and take the easy road to par.

The G730 in testing for me were absolute rocket launchers with incredibly low spin.  Below 3000rpm with a 7-iron is just too low.  The G430 at least had enough spin to allow for some control.

I'm glad to see that the loft decreases (per labeled club) have not reached their limit yet!

 

I'm sure these clubs are fine just like other recent versions, but they aren't really doing it for me (the G25s posted look better).  At this point, I'd rather by the 730s or get a 5-7 hybrid and then some smaller irons/wedges at the bottom of the bag.

I play blueprints right now with retro lofts, I love them and have no complaints when the weather is nice. I’m looking for Gs mainly for winter golf or soggy golf. I see g25 and g30s are your consensus winners. I like them too since they’re more in line with the higher lofts I prefer and they can be refinished by ping. 

 

I’ve been looking for awhile but haven’t had much luck getting a set make-up I want for a decent price. One day I’ll find some but I’m afraid you guys have driven up their market value😂

This is true for other G series irons without the hydropearl finish.  I've been jonesing for another set of G10 XGs but they're becoming rarer than hen's teeth and those I do find are either missing irons, have a lot of wear, or cost too much considering their age.

Does anyone know if ping will refinish hydro pearl irons in guyson finish?

@trying2scratch I don’t believe so. I think hydro pearl is a one and done type thing which is disappointing. 
 

@14max I’ve had some eBay searches saved for awhile and cost of a used set + shipping + ping refinishing puts me close to cost of a new set. I really like the look of g440 and g430 but paying that much for fresh grooves and seemingly planned obsolescence of hydro pearl finish is discouraging.

What specs are you looking for in g30?
