Bought my Eye 2's when I was a junior in high school all the way back in 1990. Went to Callaway irons for all of about 6 months and then quit golf for 8 years (having a kid in day care is expensive). Just got back this February and am playing G30s 4-U. Still have my Eye 2 SW in the bag and picked up an Eye 2 LW off of Ebay earlier this year. Looked at the Glide ES wedges but the lofts for lefties stops at 60 degrees, which is why I went cheap on Ebay.

I did switch over from a G25 driver and 5 wood to the M1 driver and G30 3h. Most of my struggles with the G25 were swing related and I am guessing I could hit it much better now. The G30 3h is the sweetest club in my bag.

Can I join the club? I've just pressed 'buy it now' on a set of G5's - 5I to U wedge. Played a set of G20's on holiday and liked them so I'm hoping there's not tooooo much difference. Kinda had my hand forced into this though as the 7 iron head of my beloved cobra 3100i/h irons flew off at the range the other day and I needed a quick, cheap replacement set. Little bit worried abut the weaker lofts in the long irons though! Please tell me I'll love the G5's!

Yes, I reshafted myself. Ferruleless Ping's are a little tricky but I've got the process down these days. PM me if you need some pointers.

You will. Biggest differences between the 20's and 5's are the toe weighting on the 20's and CFS shaft in the 20's. G5's look way better, IMO with the smaller profile and simple cavity. Enjoy!!

IMO.. G5s were great.. They got bigger peaking at the G20 then moving into a closer head size with the G25 and G30 to the G5

Struggling to find a G5, so I might have to go G10. Is that OK to do or will I get laughed at on the course by proper Ping officianado's?

No self respecting G-MAN would ever give you grief for representing an older G series as they are classic Gs and deserve just as much respect as any other. We would not have our current and future G series without those that came before.

G man here also. My first set was G5s (awesome set). Since then I've played JPX800s, T588, X2 Hots, and I'm now playing 5-GW G25s with the G5 SW. Awesome clubs, and they feel amazing.

My father in laws G30s with the graphite shafts feel even better though.

G5's are in the bag as of today! Took them over the range for a quick spin - very surprised by the head size - not as large as I'd imagined. Like the feel of the shafts. They look awesome in the bag too! I'm a happy Ping convert!

Considering most of you have experience with the g25's, what if any effect would i see from using a cfs stiff? I have a chance at a really good deal on a whole set of g25's but ive never hit stiff shafts before.

The CFS shaft is a great shaft. Some say it plays a little soft, so I don't think you will have a problem loading them, but only you can determine that. Give them a shot, and if it doesn't work out you should be able to flip them without losing your shirt.

Made the change to G30 irons from srixon z545....for some reason the Pings just work for me.....still got my Z545s but they are now gong to be my second set....love the g30 range..
