Titleist 915 swing weight and shaft comparison question

Recommended Posts

Greetings,

I was recently fitted for a Titleist 915 D2, with Fujikura Pro Series 73 stiff shaft, swing weight D7. I was hoping someone could help with:

1) can anyone compare how different the Fujikura Pro shaft is to the Rogue Black 70 stock shaft? When I look at the specs for both shafts, they seem pretty comparable? Just looking for some possible feedback

2) does anyone know what the swing weight is on a standard 915 D2 driver with stock Rogue shaft? Is standard usually D0?

Thanks for any help with these questions.

I think that Titleist's standard SW for the 915 is D3. The Rogues are a counter balanced shaft and I don't think that the Fuji Pro is counter balanced. So for two drivers with the same length and head weight the one shafted with the Rogue will swing weight lighter. A swing weight of D7 is going to require 8gms extra in head weight over the standard D3. Would you happen to know which weight chip the driver you were fitted with had in it? The heaviest weight chip that is available at retail is 14 gms. If that is the weight chip you had in the club you were fit with it might not be possible to obtain a D7 swing weight using the Rogue shaft without going with a longer length club. If the Fuji Pro at D7 gave you the best fit what would be the purpose of going with the Rogue instead?

For what its worth, i have a titleist 915 with a speeder 757 shaft that plays 44.5 inch. I measured the swing weight today at pga superstore. With the standard red 9 gram weight it was a swingweight of D1, from my understanding that means it came as swing weight D3 (cutting down .5 inch causes a two swing weight loss).

Just some info per Titleist club concierge rep, for those interested:

The swingweight for the 915 D2 with a Rogue Black 70 at standard length and stock grip is D2.
Anyone know swingweight of 915D2 standard length stock grip and Diamana Red 50g shaft (stiff)? I imagine D0 or less due to lighter shaft?

Titleist 915D2 standard swing weight is D2-D3. With the lighter shaft they will just use a heavier sole weight to keep the standard swing weight. However, you can order one at your desired swing weight.

I play 915D3 with GD DI6X with GP NDMC orange grip 3 wraps under. Plat Standard length 45". Could some one tell me what the swing weight should be if I still use the 9g red chip? I need to play D2 in my driver and 3 W.
And I switch to GD DJ 7S in fall and winter to achieve more carry distance. (All these shafts are professionally suggested by Titleist authorized fitters) If I switch to the DJ shaft, what the swing weight would be? And what change I need to make to keep it in D2?

Thanks!

With DI6 X, 45" and red weight it should play close to D3.

AD DJ 7s is 8 gr heavier than DI 6x. Although not sure about weight distribution is probably close to 1 SW point heavier. IMO use SW only as a reference. If you feel comfortable with the shaft head combo go with it regardless of SW being 1 point up or down

Currently with DI 6X the SW is D5.5 and with DJ it D7... I have to reduce them... I cannot hold them and swing properly

Really surprised. Did not know that ad di and dj were so tip balance. Definitely D7 is a pretty high SW
Really surprised. Did not know that ad di and dj were so tip balance. Definitely D7 is a pretty high SW
Some more info here. I play the DI 6X for 45" and DJ 7S for 45.5. Actually I am surprised as well because this SW is really really really high. My iron is professionally built with SW D2-D3 from 3 to PW. So when I swing my driver I feel its much different from all my other clubs.
The worst thing is this hight swing weight cut at least 25 yard of my driving. I hit 3W 275 but I can only drive 270. That situation push me to order the weight kit from TItleist.

Little more info: I live in Vancouver Canada so in winter its very wet. So I only use DI 6X in summer and early fall to maximize total distance. I need the DJ 7S in late fall and winter to promote little more spin to maximize total carry distance.

The reason why I play DJ 7S for 45.5 is I will tip another .5 inch after I improve my Swing speed to about 110 later this year so it will be like a 7X after I tip it.

Now, I think I need a 4g chip lol.

Bear in mind that when you tip it 1/2" you will be reducing SW by 2 or 3 points. So just by tipping you will be around D4 with the DJ 7S.

Your 3 Wood 275 yds is heaven man, what 3W are you gaming, what length and SW?

This is getting really interesting. My 915 d3 also ordered stock was D2.8 with the rogue silver 60 stiff and D3 with the Xstiff, both at standard 45" and with the red 9gr weight

I was a little disappointed after ordering a blue weight and it only coming out to a shade over D1 so I ordered the black 14 g weight and it brought it to a little over D2. Honestly hit it better with the BLue 11g weight which is strange BC d2.5ish isn't a hammer but oh well. I'm guessing required swing weight stock is between D1-D3.

I bought it on the bay brand new. The owner order it directly from Titleist. Since its .25 inch shorter, to balance it Titleist put a 11g blue chip on the head. I have ordered the weight kit today. After it arrived I think I will install the 4g chip instead of my 9g now. Then the SW will drop to some where around D3. But I still prefer D2...
