Well that does it! Gonna break mine down and get the plate stripped ASAP! I'm not gonna torch it, but I think it looks much better with a silver plate than black. Simple black sight line will look better too.

First post updated with final pics. Since its "Cam'tiqued", I gave it some "leather", creme, white and pearlescent purple to match the gorgeous head. Enjoy!!!!

Ps, if anyone needs replacement screws for the plate, I have a ton. If requested, I can torch them to match the ones ive done for mine.

Gio, you inspired me to strip the plate on mine. This looks much better at address now. Like many others I'm sometimes struggled to see the stock sight line. I'm not brave enough to torch it though. Well not yet at least.

The screws are #06-32 x 1/8"

You COULD use #06-32 x 1/4" for four of the six screws. I know bc thats what're in mine.

Props decuchi...its awesome isnt it? I still have to buff polish mine. Made just 28 putts w it today. It is getting a kangaroo stitchback grip on it tomorrow..keep me updated if u do anythin else to it!

Great work! The putter looks MUCH better now. I would normally never take the chance on modifying a club like this but you have inspired me. Could you please list the steps that you took and exactly what you used to strip the plate? I'm assuming that you also did the paintfill on the sightline and in the numbers and letters on the bottom of the plate. Would you be so kind as to let us know what paints you used, what you used to do the paintfill and the exact process that you went through to make the finished product look so good?

Pinseeker -
it's really, really easy. get yourself some heavy duty EasyOff oven cleaner (it's in the yellow spray can), some nitrile gloves (optional, i'd suggest it tho), and a plastic container. take the plate off carefully as there are should be 5 little rubber o rings (serve as cushion between the metals)...and set them aside for later when you re-install the plate. take the plate and put it in the plastic container and spray the oven cleaner until the plate is submerged in the liquid...takes about 10 minutes or so to REALLY get it...i shook/swirled the plate around in the bottom of the container to help it do it's magic.

once it's done - take it out, give it a thorough wash with soap/water and a soft bristle brush...then re-install the sole plate.

[/quote] easy off should not remove the paintfill. however, i can't guarantee it. i removed the fill on mine before removing the black so, i cannot attest to it.

I can confirm that Easy off doesn't effect the stock paintfill. It only strips the black anodizing. It will remain intact. Very easy process. I went behind and polished the bottom of my soleplate.

Holy thread bump. 

 

Not OP, but in the putters I have torched there has never been a change in feel if you let it cool naturally. Accelerating the cooling via quenching has made it feel a little tingy or almost brittle. Definitely not great, but your mileage may vary.
