Hard to say they used to check ids a ton but I have played there so much in the couple years I know everyone in the shop and they dont even ask for my card anymore. If you do try it I would bring cash so they cannot put it together that the name on the card does not match the name on the pass.

If he does not play out there a ton and they dont know who he is I think it would have a better chance of working compared to someone like me who is out there all the time.

If I am looking to book a tee time on a Friday using the pass when does the four day window start?

Monday at 12:01 am? or Tuesday at 12:01 am? Phoenix time?

Thanks everyone. Made a trip out to Phoenix for the past couple years in March. Played Southern Dunes and Tegavah (Vista Verde) last year. Really enjoyed both of those very much. Looking to do both courses at We-Ko-Pa and maybe Sunridge Canyon this year. Hopefully I will be able to secure morning tee times with a We-Ko-Pass on a Friday and Saturday. Looks like they get taken quickly. Also still haven't played either of the courses at Troon North. Those rates are ridiculous for March.

  • 2 weeks later...

Sorry to hijack the thread a bit OP but I'm in a group of 8 that are heading to Phoenix for some golf the 2nd week of March. We're looking at the We-Ko-Pass to save some $$$ and golf both We-ko-pa courses and Sun Ridge Canyon. However, we are a bit nervous about not being able to book until 4 days in advance. As we are traveling a long way to get some golf in, we like to have all our bookings settled before we get there.

Question for those with the pass - with a We-ko-pass, how difficult will it be to find two foursome times relatively close together booking 4 days in advance (on a weekday)? Would you suggest we buy the card and wait until the 4 days in advance to book or play it safe and book tee times in advance (which would likely mean we don't golf We-ko-pa or Sun Ridge due to cost)?

Thanks.

I rarely have issues finding times but it has happened. It is a gamble and something you need to decide on if it's worth the risk of not playing. 2nd week of March spring training is in full gear. If you are only able to play on one specific day especially a weekend it might not be the safest move to go with the pass. However if you are here mid week and can make your schedule fit around what day and times are available then you should be ok

You won't have a risk of not playing, even at that time, just the risk of not playing at your chosen course and rate. Especially if you are willing to drive a bit, there are going to be (good) courses with capacity.

It couldn't hurt to call We-ko-pa. I was in a similar situation, I wanted to play both on the 36-hole replay and had a gift certificate to burn. They were accommodating to me.

If you can't find a tee time once in the four day window for the We-Ko-Pass whats the best plan to get one that becomes available? I have watched tee times pop up on the website where someone must have cancelled.

1. Check the website a ton?
2. Call the number a ton?
3. Is there some sort of waiting list for tee times that open up?

Getting excited about playing out there but worried I wont be able to get a tee time for a foursome.

I lost out on a Sunday time this weekend and I checked the morning of the pass window opening up. I forgot to check late night.

It’s been a while since I’ve looked at DM during the winter months but that sounds about right, give or take some $. IMHO it’s not worth the higher prices though. There are better, cheaper options in town.

Digging up an old thread here. Looking to buy a Wekopass for this upcoming winter. Any trouble getting tee times with the 4 day booking window in recent months/this past winter?

I have not bothered with the pass for the last few years. Once the pass gained some popularity and the course some more notoriety it became harder and harder to find something within the booking window.I guess if you can play during the week and are pretty flexible at what times you can play then I am sure there is still some value to it, but if you're looking to book prime time weekend spots then forget and pay the higher resident rate.

This....I still get it every year, but have good flexibility.

Above is why they introduced the next tier...the Peaks Pass. You get 14 day advance times. So if definite times is needed, then you need to pay 5x more.

I agree with opb. I love saguaro however there are several reasons why I choose to no longer get the we ko pass:

1) Don’t like cholla

2) 4 day booking window sucks and I’m pretty flexible when I play

3) 35 min drive

4) no practice area access if you are not playing (they may offer for it $25 not sure)

5) az residents rate isn’t a lot more than the we ko pass rate

6) I enjoy playing a variety of courses

7) it’s not that important to me but I’ve found we ko pa’s customer service & conditioning good not great relative to the price

Some positives: saguaro is an interesting design & walkable, discounted rates for you and up to 3 more players (this saves a lot for your out of state friends), play 5 get 1 free
