turtsoup
So they came! Brand new in wrappers to complete my set! These are gonna be so hard to hit! ... I own this 3 iron... It is soooo smooth when hit great. Any slight miss though and you're screwed! Lovely! I can't wait to get electric shocks by this! :taunt: (...for all you blade users that are scurred of a 'lil long iron...) Oh im scurred for sure. Actually hit them well yesterday! Sir Slicealot
So they came! Brand new in wrappers to complete my set! These are gonna be so hard to hit! No they aren't! You are being overly pessimistic. They're going to bomb the hell out of the ball. Condition the noodle between the ears to believe it. I play MP-4's and my long irons aren't the weak link in my game. In fact I'm dying to play the irons at any given point in the game. As long as I can focus, watch out the ball is headed for the flag. Don't fear the long irons. Buy a 1 iron and learn to hit that...then your troubles are over with everything else...almost...chipping is a whole different story. bervin
Alright fellas, I did it. Finally dropped a little coin on a good deal for some clean MP-4 heads. Can't wait for these things to get here so I can get them shafted and take them out to the course. Curious as to any suggestions for what shaft suggestions you all recommend? I am coming from DG x100s in my MP-62s that I was "fitted" too back in 2010 - aka the rep looked at my SS and said s300 is too light. I swing around 110 with the driver for some perspective. Any shaft recommendations? And what other info about my swing would be helpful to make a more educated suggestion?
wmblake2000
Those are very nice heads... I seriously debated getting them and they were up against significant competition. Bang for buck brilliant. No clue on shafts. My swing:your swing:: squirrels:squirrels on crack. (I heard that on tv. Just had to use it even if it's irrelevant) Quote Titlest Tsi2, 10*, GD ADDI 5 Titleist TSi2 16.5 GD ADDI 5 Callaway X-hot pro 3, 4 h TM P790 5-W, DG 105 R Vokey SM7 48, 52, 56 Cameron Futura 5W
PeanutsDaddy
Even better looking in hand than I suspected. Like the contrast of the chrome and brushed surfaces. Remind me of my Mac 1025 V-foils. Was wondering about the offset in the short irons but nothing to be concerned with. Building a combo set with Maltby TE's. XP 95s are being dropped in. PeanutsDaddy
When I showed my wife the TE heads she commented that they looked liked my personal brand as my intials are M.E. There was definitely a few putts that i lagged with the 60s round being in my mind. I put a lot of pressure on myself and I just cant get over that wall. It will happen soon and then the flood gates will open. I see this as a good summer already. Hopefully lol
DeNinny
PD that blade design is "wedge like". My (rather, my wife's) Hogan Vector Lites are similar. The muscle is basically thicker near the sole and not as thick as other blades as you go higher up. It will be interesting to know how those feel compared to your Macs. They are slick looking. I was going to buy some CG1 Black Pearls, but eventually couldn't leave mizuno. Once you've played them, it is tough to go back - and this time they will be shiny, "pure" blades that will make me feel good when I look at them in the bag! All other fears are self induced phobias based on old wives' tales. One thing that helps you get over the fear is putting more focus on the better quality GOOD strikes from them. Have you noticed that improvement yet? I played a practice nine yesterday and hit my long irons like crap. Root cause? MY $hitty swing. No more. No less. bervin
We all PREFER new... but 180 for a set like that? Tough to beat! You'll be able to put whatever shafts, grips, L/L/L adjustments, etc. you want and still come in way under budget! This is obviously just my methodology, I am by no means trying to persuade you one way or another. But I look for deals like this all the time. I've found CG1 Black Pearls, MP-14s and MP-32s for $100 each before. In fact, I just bought my MP-4s that are in the mail for $225 after shipping and they are like new, just all paint fill removed. I am going to do a custom paint fill so this was perfect. There is just such little risk involved. If you hit them and don't fall in love, you may want to change. Well if you buy new and sell used, you're way in the hole. I've always felt that buying slightly used is the most advantageous investment when it comes to things like golf clubs, automobiles, guns, etc. (obviously with some exceptions).
