IF.....IF I shaft up the BB's...think I'll venture out to Shimada. Just out of curiosity. They have a nice selection of weights and profiles.

I really want to try Nippon's heavy putter shaft.

Are you using a counterbalanced now? Me, I like the head to feel real heavy.

It's not counterbalanced at all. Its just a Piretti Matera flow neck (365g?). But I also like a heavy putter. My putting was just terrible the last 2 days.

Now you're talkin'! I have a set of Shimada in my United SBB1T and love them! I will try them in the next set of BB I shaft up. My normal go-to shaft is CTaper 120 (S). The Shimada I have are Tour Mid (115) in Regular. I really like the step pattern of the Regular and don't find it weaker than the Tour Stiff I've tried, just a different profile. I'm curious how the Tour Mid will respond to the longer hosels of the BB.

M, I'd say you should try the CTaper Lite in one or two heads before shafting up the whole set. You have them after all. I'm one of the few, but I haven't found a Nippon I love. Super Peening Blue and Orange were the closest, but there's something about each Modus that I haven't loved.

Swingweight in putters is a BIG deal, IMO.

IF I were to purchase some BBs :D.

I recently got fitted for some cobra one length irons with c taper lite stiff 110g. I tried the standard kbs tour but c taper was better for me. Only 2 shafts I tried at that fitting.

Would you recommend me putting same shafts in the BBs? My SS is about max 85 mph with my 6/7 iron. I swing ok quick.

I'm playing DGs300 in my Nikes atm, not sure I like them yet.

nzio, your swing speed is very similar to mine. I use the KBS Tour V90s and I like them a lot. If you need a little help getting your shots up in the air, give them a try.

Shot a 40 today with mp-29s...kinda jumped on the course so played with my trunk bag (mp29s, old sldr driver, 52 and 56, but i had my new dh89 in the car...

Since my 007 is carbon, id say the feel wasnt as nice, but the head is just beautiful...i was solid from about 5 yards in...missed 2 birdy putts though...gir on all but 1 hole(1st)...mp29s are amazing, such a close call between them and the 14s, but i think the 14s feel and flight just a little better...group in front of me was a bunch of old dudes (like 70s).

One hit their three wood (edit: i put "iron" into the cart parked ahead of him off centet by about 5 yards...man, they played slow....but i woukdnt care what othet people thought at that age either..rock on

I scored a GORGEOUS set of Mp100's off the bay that look like they've maybe had five rounds on them for a killer price. I have the Modus 125's x coming in to get them to my specs and i'm pumped! I have played the 33's ever since 2001 until they were stolen about two years ago. I have the 4's now but I miss the 33's. I just hit them better and love the higher ball flight and, to me, the softer feel.

As the 100s appear to be rebadged 33s, I think you're going to like them, Rock Pinker.

There's an interesting post about them in an old thread:

I may or may not have once searched for info about MP-100s at some point.... :pimp:

Actually, the best way to dig up old threads on GolfWRX is not to use the site's search function, but normal Google search. Type in Golfwrx, the name of the club (or whatever) you want to research, and up come lots of threads. There are very few clubs out there that have NOT been mentioned on Golfwrx at one time or another.

So the Macgregor VIP Limited by Nicklaus 2-9 arrived and I can honestly say that they are in better nick than my two-year-old MP4s!! The head shape, as NRJ described, is similar to the Hogan Personals/MP14s and looks gorgeous. MacGregor Tourney Taper shafts (#1 stiff), Golf Pride Swingrite/Griprite grips and matching serial nos on the ferrules. Off over to the classic thread to see if I can find out anything about them. Coughs can be very bad in late spring so you need to not put the whole company at risk by working Saturday.

He is very happy (ahem)...actually I told the boss that a very learned blade player on this board suggested that 'he jumps on them' and she said you ought to get them then! They are great clubs and so much better than I was expecting...itching to get them down the range. Thanks NRJ

Hey Team,

Best thread ever. I'm reading THE ENTIRE THREAD, and have been over the last 5 months. Currently caught up to May 2016! My journey reflects many of you.

Played 690.MB's, tried VR PRO's-not bad, but they were harder to hit consistent, and inconsistently shorter for me- possibly(but likely not due to) the .370 bored hosel that was done unknowingly to them when I purchased on the bay, so same shafts(X100) with shims. With the 690MB's a slight hit off center was usually fine with good feedback of what to correct, with the VR Pro's same mishit fell 10 yards short on average with irons with a weird dead feeling.

Being left-handed, very limited in choices. Bought 716 CB's last fall. Don't love them. Hit them worse than the 690.MB's. Inconsistent distances, which has always been my strength. "Man, you are always hole high!" is usually the comment with the 690MB's, never heard once with the CB's. I'm a 4 cap, decent, not great. Iron play is usually a strength. Average putter.

Fitted last week by Team Titleist, and 716MB came on top. Looking at716MB, but need to get this right! 2 iron sets in a year is not smart money management, even with selling the CB's.

Can anyone assure me that the 716MB will be a solid replacement(not necessarily an upgrade aside from grooves) for the 690MB's that are old, used and abused?

You can`t go wrong with Titleist, amirite?

That being said, I realized I don`t have a set of Mizunos, so I have a set on the way. MS5s, the Ballesteros model from Japan. I was up late last night on yahoo auction, as you do... And, when I clicked on the bid button it went straight to `bought.` Strange.

Anyway, they`re mine now.

Thanks, DeNinny, and your insight in this thread is fantastically awesome. Until I found this thread, I thought I was the only golfer in the world who actually thought blades are better(for me) than cavities.

Can you elaborate on the 714 MB, why you say it's better than 716? Really, all I'm looking for is fresher grooves/face, and same performance as my 690.MB classics. It is VERY often on my 690's that I do not strike the ball perfect, and the result is still very, very good. Not hard to hit at all.

I had one like that the other day. Bid on a set of Mac Muirfields, and all of a sudden they were mine. It was in the last 10 minutes of the auction, so I don't know if that had anything to do with it.

MS-5s? Not seen those around. MS-11s are pretty common, and I see the odd MS-9 and MS-3 sets, but never the 5s.

Just did a GIS; nice looking blade.

I appreciate the feedback and alignment to what I'm saying. If you doubt any of it, feel free to PM me and I will explain myself and the true science in as much detail as you like, even down to the molecular level. LOL or just trust your own experience because it is fully justified by science. Bottom line: there is no technical reason to play a CB over a blade from a performance improvement standpoint. A blade will ALWAYS be technically better because of the science behind its design. "Forgiveness" is a technical CARNEY SHAM (LOL or SHAME).

The only reason I like the 714 MB over the mp4 and 716 MB is because of how it FEELs. There is no performance gain from the 714 MB over either of the other clubs. I hit the 6i 714 MB, mp4, and TaylorMade Tour MB in a side by side test with my mp67 and also a baby blade, and, notwithstanding the baby blade, the 714 MB was the best feeling out of all of them. And I really like how my mp67 and the mp4 feel. The 714 MB was the softest Titleist blade that I ever hit. LOL I call it the best blade that Mizuno NEVER made because it is buttery soft feeling like a Mizzy, and LOL it feels contrary to most Titleist blades, like the 716 MB, which to me are a little "clicky" feeling. I have never tried any Titleist blade before the 695 MBs, but what I have found was that the 695 MB, 710 MB, and 716 MB are more standard Titleist feeling, again which is "clicky" in my subjective opinion. The 714 MB was a different beast altogether for me. It felt more like a Mizuno which I simply prefer over Titleist (in general). Again, FEEL is the only reason I'm recommending the 714 MB. And also remember that I'm a blade using snob and I nitpick at blade designs more than anybody in this thread, so really the mp4 and 716 MB are both great blade choices.
