Blade users thread (NO DEBATING CLUBHEADS! NO Buy Sell Trade!)

Sorry it most certainly does. Moving CG away from axial point increases resistance to turning of head around shaft. It increases MOI , it increases a force to be overcome with the hands. It is much of why a Ping Eye 2 is unlike a Hogan Precision. Saying CG does not matter in blade design is like saying offset or loft does not matter. I have V-Foils collecting dust because they launch too high, I have Maruman CS's that will be gamers because they are the lowest launching irons I've ever hit.................but CG has nothing to do with it, LOL.

The MOI involved in moving the CG farther from the hosel is different from the MOI that makes an Eye2 different from a Hogan Precision. The former is related to the ease of swinging the club, the latter is about the resistance to twisting on off center hits. Lateral CG location has nothing to do with the latter (clubhead MOI).

Sorry if I'm stating the obvious, but it seemed from your post you were mixing and matching the two.

They are both the same, it is just the degree of how much it is applied.

No, they are completely independent. You can have a club that helps to create a low swing MOI but has a high clubhead MOI. And, vice versa, a club with a higher swing MOI with a low clubhead MOI.

Though it's not a blade related analogy ;), Tommy Armour's 845 Oversize clubhead from the mid-90s is an example of this. They made a larger clubhead, the clubhead MOI increased, but the CG wound up closer to the hosel. Not just relatively with the larger clubhead, but in terms of actual distance.

I hear you. TM 92 Australian blade is designed exactly like the 845's you mention. In terms of controlling club face the net effect is the same, in the Maxfli, the variable of mass was increased. In an Eye 2 the variable CG was moved out and away. Plug them into formula the resultant MOI number for both go up relative to the average. So both require more energy from hands & up to overcome. For Pings, they do swing easier but want to go straight ( not much nuance), for Maxfli's they require beefy swing and what I can only describe them as being 'anti-hook sledgehammers' in relative comparison to other blades (again not much nuance)

Again, I get your distinction and I'm making my last one on the topic.

Cheers.

I suppose I could post some pics of more of my sets, especially since I have a fair number lying around. The pics may not be as nice as some others, though, since a fair number of my clubs are lead taped, some to the point of being completely safe from radiation sources.

My newest set of blades are the PureFit MB-1020's, a cast carbon steel set I'd picked up on closeout in 2008 (had to look that up, LOL). Other than that, they're all from the 20th century. That's pretty ancient in WRX terms. LOL

That changes the mood entirely. If you bring up FUGLY CBs like the vas, this is all I'll have in my head:

dog flog,

Put the bong down, man :cheesy:

.

This is winning. I was thinking same thing, like really good Canadian weed + really Canadian humor = dogflog........and I am ok with that!

Nothing like a little Canadian humor, eh? Did I tell you I grew up in the world capital of grow houses? High school was literally just that. You ever played golf, on weed?

Ummm, Just a couple, of ahh...a couple of hundred rounds maybe???......

I used to call weed "mental game", still do, although when I say it now it is just a joke for myself. Golf is arguably the only thing sport where pot is a possible performance enhancer (scratch that, I believe I have also experienced accelerated performance benefits playing Bocci ball as well). I mostly have so many rounds like that under my bet because it would encompass about every round played from high school through college. I have ran across some people close to golf/golfers and some caddy types down here, and I think that it is more common among pro and nationwide guys than maybe one would think. Not saying everywhere, just maybe more than people would think as the PGA and Golf has such a uptight and proper sorta vibe.

Anyway, I have had good and bad rounds both ways.

If I am getting high in the middle of or just before a round, bad things happen to my game. Really bad. If I'm already high for a few hrs, it's no different than being sober.

I'm so/so on the stuff. I'm fine just dipping Cope throughout my round. Once the roach comes out, I lose the feel of the finer things and putt long.

Quitting dope is easy (It really should be legal...but anyway) but I have quit dipping even though I only did it for a few years, and that is something that on the course I do miss.....

There used to be a PGA pro who would dip on the course. I remember about a decade ago that particular player was standing next to his caddie as they were talking about their next move on the fairway. As they were talking, the commenters were talking about that players possible moves, as they were talking about it, the caddie hands the pro a can of chew and he took a monster 3 finger dip. They immediately changed the scene to his opponent. A month or so later I remember seeing the PGA issuing a statement about dipping tobacco on the course.

Does anyone else remember Marlboro tour bags?? Ahh the good ole days. Now everyone is a Nancy about it.

Have we possibly stumbled upon a way to pare down on Ninny's I-know-you-are-but-what-am-I posts?! I may start lobbying a senator.

I think I've also heard of 'shroom-induced hallucinations creating a godfather complex in online forums. Careful with those, Nins.

I think the bigger issue is your "I have nothing to add to this thread but I NEED the attention so I will comment on and demonstrate my obsession with DeNinny's posts."

The block function works wonders. But maybe you just want to keep reading my posts and make the thread about your commentary on it.

Either way, I'm entertained by your irony with or without chemical enhancement.

I've PMd you with all I've got to say about your posts. I won't say more.

If I could choose to smoke or not smoke on the course. I`d go with having a little. A puff here and a puff there. On a nice course, with friends, well, there`s really nothing better. My last tournament round I shot 78 at Northview (where they played the Greater Vancouver Open a few years) in the dead of winter. On the drive in I had about a half bean. Pretty mellow front nine.

LOL Canadians know their herb (B.C. bud, baby!). I was playing Greywolf up in Panorama several years ago and out of the blue the local guys I was paired with offered to smoke me out. OMG it was the best 96 that I ever shot. Had a great time sucking it up. I was done after a few puffs too, but the guys were toking before every hole. I can't do that. My tempo and focus just go to $hit if it is hitting me all of a sudden.

If Northview is where they have the Ridge and Canal courses, I have played there (sober) and loved it. I played the Ridge course and remember greens that stimped at 12 and it had a challenging layout. Vancouver has so much good golf.
