Travel Bag Help!

Alright guys...I'm currently underway with my search for my first travel bag. Trouble is, I'm not sure exactly what I am looking for!

 

I'd like to get one that is high-quality (won't deteriorate quickly, good protection for clubs) but also won't break the bank. I was at the PGA SS earlier and saw quite a few that looked reasonably priced (under $200) but there seems to be different styles (hard, soft, hybrid) and so I'm looking for recommendations.

 

What brand have y'all found to be "good" and what style have you found is best?

Keep an eye out on craigslist. I picked up a Club glove Last Bag for $50 (pretty much the best travel bag IMO), and have seen them pop up again from time to time.

No one wants to sell them online because the shipping is so much, which makes it a buyers market for local pickup. Good luck!

Check rockbottomgolf.com I always see some deals for travel bags there and it's always free shipping over $100 which is easy to hit.

just about any padded mid-level moderately priced bag (i.e., not club glove) is fine if packed carefully

I bought my Club Glove Last Bag brand new (with tags) from Craigslist for $100. The guy won it somewhere.

I then sold my used smaller Club Glove (burst proof model) on Craigslist for $125.

i have a soft and a hard case...

got both at more than 50% off(less than $75) by doing a bit of research and have used the soft one(GB brand) more than 10X on domestic flights and still looks new..

just ordered the hard one but forgot the brand..

+1 On Club Glove Last Bag , truly the best soft bag .

I had a couple of soft bags fail on me for various reasons after using it for a couple of years. Finally bit the bullet and bought a Club Glove Burstproof and it's still going strong after 10 years. And I use about 10-15 times per year.

You can't beat the club glove last bag. I do think that packing (and properly protecting) the clubs in any bag is what really differentiates a good experience from a bad one.

I use a club glove stiff arm along with numerous towels to wrap and pad the club heads for airline travel. It has always worked well for me.

imo nothing beats a club glider. The ease of use and the quality is top notch. I use mine with a stiff arm and it works great.

I echo what others have said about the CG. I have other pieces of CG luggage and you can attach the travel bag to the handle of the luggage and move it easily. I know the club glider is an excellent product but you are not able to do this with the rest of your luggage. I had 3 pieces attached on a golf trip to Scotland and had no problem while my companions had to struggle to get everything to the counter. I encourage you to look at the videos on the CG website and you will be able to see what I am talking about. Good luck on what you choose.

We picked up 2 xl rolling duffles to go with our last and burst proof. One had a logo on in but the price was right.

From my experience of using a travel bag every other week during the summer for the last five years is that there is one main advantage to the Club glove bags. I can not stress how important the full plastic back of the club glove is. I had other bags before this one and the wheels would consistently get torn off. I have had this one for four years now, the plastic back is gouged but still in good condition. Also spend the $25 and get the stiff arm. I have had a stiff arm replaced twice under warranty for breaking but protecting my clubs.

Try Checking out the OGIO Monster travel bag. Mid Size bag at a pretty good price ...very durable and easy to maneuver in the Airport.

If you go soft bag; do yourself a favor right out of the gate and drop $20 on a Stiff Arm. Easy to find online or in your local DSG.

Id go with the new Ogio's. Great quality and lots of room to store your mini portable speaker for the course I know you love so much!!!!
