R7Tp vs. X-Tours in forgiveness

I know there is a topic between the R7's and the X-Forged but I have not hit the new X-Forged. So how do the R7TP's rank in terms of forgiveness compared to the X-Tour's. Thanks alot

I can only comment on the Callaway irons but I'll tell you this, I was in Vegas a couple of weeks ago at the Callaway Golf Center and hit the new X-Forged on the launch monitor and outside. Totally different from X-Tours. Not nearly as forgiving and more penal on miss-hit shots. But, when struck on the sweet spot they were butter and I think I could play them. But I think they should be recommended for single digits only and I'm on the cut line.

x tours are alot more forgiving, i like them but hard to be effective with them, it is impossible to hit a knockdown with them but still nice irons nonetheless, r7 tp are forgiving and IMO like the x forged except not forged. if i were to choose, id go r7 tp, thye mix forgiveness and workability, x tours have nothing on them

I disagree about workability with X-Tours. I have no issue going both ways as well as knocking them down. If I had any complaint it is the 2-piece forging. It is a little muted.

I have to agree with MeanmachineMoe, X-Tours are very workable, left, right, high and low. The R7s are nice, but still cast and that ghetto colored logo thing on the back, yikes! Just y opinion of course, but that's what we are here to express. X-Tours are sweet for me, Cally Pre_Owned have like new sets for sub $6 hundred.

I played xtours last year and enjoyed them.I wanted a bit longer and more forgiving club this year.Hit the R7tp by mistake ,thinking it was non tp R7.After 5 demo sessions and 40 small buckets I bought the set.I unfortunately have only been able to play 16 holes so far this year.So only speaking of range time I think the R7tps are more forgiving than the Xtours and the short irons much more condusive to play around the green.Only hit the xforged 6 iron and that was very consistant.However by simple virtue of it,s profile and minimal cavity as compared to the R7tp and Xtour I can,t see a whole set being more forgiving then either the Xtour or R7tp.JMHO.

I have owned both sets, and played them side by side. To me, I ended up sticking with my X-Tours and selling the R7 TP's. The R7 TP's are a very fine set of sticks, but were just not as forgiving to me as the X-Tours. I have alot of confidence in the X-Tours, and play well with them. I just never could get comfortable with the R7TP's. They have terrific distance control, but I am just better on the course with the X-Tours. I don't think you can go wrong with either set, but if you are asking strictly about forgiveness, I think the X-Tours win that category.

Someone who has played both can chime in, but from memory, the sole of the R7-TP's might be more narrow than the X-Tour's in the short irons. Depending on your swing and typical course conditions, you might love the X-Tour short irons, or you might find them a little difficult (people on the different forums, but also a few very good players I have spoken to in person were very split on the X-Tour short irons; either they worked for you or they didn't).
