Wow I'm amazed at how many people have an issue this hole. I really shouldn't be because after all this is the home where people get upset for such things as, their playing partner wearing cargo shorts, a group 12 holes away playing music quietly on the course, the guy 2 groups behind them having more than 1.5 beers in a round, someone you dont know who is not in a competition playing to have fun and not by every nit picky rule. Glad to see people still here don't like golf being associated with fun. There are 17 other holes this week and 48 other tournaments this year you can go to if you don't like this one hole.

They should keep the local paddywagon of the SPD for some of those alkies in the crowd. It's clear some of them are way too lubed up. Outside of that I would say I don't have a problem with it since it's kind of a once a hole, one a year type of deal.

He looked irritated, to me. If they fine him, it will be the height of hypocrisy for the PGA Tour. Anything goes at that hole, right?

I think it is fun given the situation (early season) and that it is one hole on one tournament. Didn't care for the beer bottle throwing, but that isn't going to take away from the overall for me. It was cleaned up in a few minutes as commented during the broadcast and beer isn't going to hurt the course.

You are no better of a person for the sport you play. This is most often tested in golf as golf if by far the easiest sport to cheat at directly impacting the end score. Given the "ethical power" of golf, I always find it amusing how high of standards people within golf outwardly set. Thankfully there are tons of saints on this site to offset the garbage that was within the stadium. I wouldn't have been someone in the stadium, but I also won't raise an eyebrow either.

Its one hole, in one event, once a year...sometimes recognizing what you do not like makes you appreciate what you do like a heck of a lot more.

I love it when Tiger aced this hole though...loved the reaction...loved the energy from the crowd.

I really hope I don't get 'da ban for this but basically he gestured to someone in the crowd (indentifying a heckler I think as based on some media reports) and then gestured for said individual(s) to basically "suck it".

I agree for the most part and I have enjoyed watching the players & fans interact, but I think the throwing of the beer cans on the course was a little over the top not to mention kind of dangerous for the volunteers. Outside of that I'm all for it. Maybe they could get all those "Mashed Potatoes!, GET In the HOLE!,... etc" guys seats at WMPO 16th Hole, then ban all other thoughtless yelling of comments from the other tour events.

I think it's awesome, let crowd be a part of it, these guys are Pros, they should be able to handle a little noise.

Though I don't appreciate the environment on #16, its NOT an embarrassment to the tour. If its anything, it's a momentary distraction. However, I must applaud the Thunderbirds for creative P&L mgt. All those boxes generate big bucks, not to mention it's good for business. I wouldn't be surprised to learn, no other PGA tournament compares either. Remember, the tour is all about generating revenue and charity, not appeasing skittish minds.

The DX (Degeneration X) sign or crotch-chop is what Campo said. It literally means to s*ck it. It was a gesture made popular by a group of WWE pro Wrestlers in the late 90's/early 2000, and has become part of pop culture similar to flipping the bird. Although that was one of the worst attempts at a DX sign I have ever seen.

I can remember correctly from HS/College days it went something like this...."Ladies and Gentleman, Boys and Girls, Children of all ages. I'm not a golf snob or a private CC player. I'm a "Muni" player, so IMO, one hole where all the "Drunks" go, on one tournament for the year does not seem to be detrimental to professional golf. If anything, it's a little comic relief that is actually good for the Tour. It does however, make some of the objections to crowd noise i.e.; camera clicks, airplanes, cell phones, etc., seem a little bit over blown by some of the Pros. Most of them don't seem to have any problem sticking their shot on the green at 16 with all of the noise and antics and demonstrations. It seems to work there, but I would not want to encourage it at any other tournament. I'm a Muni player but I'm also a "Traditionalist" when it comes to Golf.

I would however, pay good money to be in the room of a meeting of the Board of Directors of Augusta National, and listen to the Promoter of the Waste Management tournament try to convince the "Old Farts" to give this concept a try at the "Masters." That would be good for at least one mild heart attack and a couple of good doses of diarrhea.

The 16 th is unique and should stay that way. It makes up for the blandness of the rest of the course. And I believe it raises some fantastic sums for charity....no bad thing.
