Has anyone blown a money match on the last hole when coming down the stretch? I remember i hit 2 OB and my buddy made 4 and i made 9, who has had one of those moments?

I had a kid blow it in club championships when I was 16.

 

 

He was 8 strokes up going into the back 9 on the last day and I ended up winning by 3.

I've never blown a tournament or money or anything that I can think of on the last hole, but I've done it to blow mini goals like par here and I break 80, or I break 40 for this nine or something.

i was standing on the 18th tee of regionals. the 18th hole is was a par 5 with a large water hazard about 260 out. the number i had in my head was 77 to advance which meant i had to birdie 18 to advance. i hit my usually bunt driver, it ended up in the harzard on the hill, i try and hit it and knock it in the water. i take 7 to shoot 80 and if i would have just made par at 18 i would have advanced. i totally feel you man.

Yeah it was an 11 shot swing and I'm pretty sure I shot like a 38 or 39 on the back as well lol.

i had a 3 shot lead in our club championship in 2005 and made a 14, that's right, a 14 on a par 5. went like this:

Driver into left hazard, 1 in 2 out hitting 3

now i am behind palmettos and have to hit it left and hook it (i am a lefty)

5 iron left and OB, 3 in 4 out hitting 5

6 iron left and OB, 5 in 6 out hitting 7

now i say f--k it and try to go over palmettos, hit the palmettos but came out of hazard by about 8 inches but have no swing so i have to punch out Right handed, now i am hitting 9 from about 265. deicid to hit 6 iron and pull it into hazard down the right. find the ball but have to punch out. so 10 is the punch out. hit my 11th on to about 20 ft and 3 putt! That is the worse hole i have ever experienced. i wouldn't wish it upon anyone.

In our State Junior Amateur championship this past year I was 5 down after 11 and won. It was match play and I went -1 and he was playing real solid and just kinda fell apart.

I totally feel for you guys. When I was a junior in high school, I was playing in our conference tournament and came to the par-5 16th hole 3 over. This course was so tough! I was playing really well, and ended up making a 10 on the 16th, a 6 on the par-3 17th, and a 6 on the par 5 18th. Finished with an 83 and my team ended up finishing 2 strokes shy of the conference tournament. PAINFUL. My coach made it even worse by chewing me out and calling me every four letter word in the book. I still have nighmares.

buchean, i feel bad for everyones story here, but your coach did not deserve his job if thats what he imparted on you and the rest of your team about winning and losing... grace in disgrace is the proof of a true sportsman, and he had none it seems...

I agree. Totally out of line, although I get used to it because my coach is something like that

Hard luck man, if that was me I probably would have clocked the coach with a sand wedge for doing that, ain't the best behaviour I've heard of.

Alright here goes. In a matchplay round earlier this year I was 4up through the first 5 holes. After 9 holes it was AS as I'd played some bad shots, made some mistakes and gotten unlucky on some holes. I win the 10th and when this round finished I had lost 3&2. U could guess how I felt, but at least our team won 4 - 1. For some strange reason this year I only played 3 out of the 6 events, the coach said it was just because we had two people off 12 in the team and I was one of them, even though I won both my other matches comfortably. Didn't make me feel good, especially when I didn't get to play in the final and our number 5 player got to play every match.

That is seriously bad hole. Did you break or throw anything? :rolleyes:

I am a freshman and we had qualifying for my golf team to see what spot everyone would be at..it was 3 round qualifying 9 holes each..i dont have much competition but there is a senior that can go low..well in the first round in 35* weather i shot 35 -1, the senior shot 36. the next day i shot 37 +1 , he shot 37, then on the last round we were paired together..i was up by 1, i went 4 straight pars and he was +1 on the round then on 5 i bogeyd so i was still up by 1..then on the 6th i birdied, he made par. 7th i birdied he made par,8 i birdied, he birdied, then the horable # 9..i was up by 4, there is like a waterfall on the left..to hit into it u have to hit ur drive 290 and the wind was in my face i didnt think i could get to it but i carryed it into the water..and he hit fairway..so i was on green putting for double and he was putting for birdie, if i make and he makes we tie if he misses i win..so he putts and makes it..so i have a 3 footer for double..i lip out!!! and lose by one and shot!! i was so mad!! so i ended up the #2 guy and in are first match i shot 36 and he shot 42 so its all good!

I 3 putted the last 4 holes of a sectional qualifyer after I hit all 4 of those greens in regulation, with no more than a 25 foot putt. I shot 82, anyone at 78 advanced.
