Only been able to play one round with the new Get Sum ball but it seems very similar to the older ball. unfortunately the weather hasn't cooperated in New England the last few weeks but am hopeful to get out there and get a better idea of the ball's performance. I did notice that it's not as bright yellow as the previous Optic Yellow color though.

Was just looking at the MTB-X (only in white, the optic yellow is still sold out) and didn't see any language saying there was a 2-doz limit, and it allowed putting more in the cart. 

 

Has the 2-doz limit been removed?

They are also listing the value pack (5 dz) as available.

That's the way it goes I guess.  I just ordered my years supply of premium balls from somewhere else because they were on sale.  I really like the MTB too.

I received an email from them today that the Value Packs for white MTB-X are now available, and that they are finalizing Prototypes, with a video on them sometime next month.

As you all know, the material shortage caused some major issues in supply as I have said before.  We have continued to take the feedback from everyone here, and have been working over the past year to make protos to meet the performance upgrades that many have been asking for.    Granted, we cannot make something that addresses every comment, but the feedback you all give has a voice, and we have been listening.   We are now back to getting these protos made and have some very good results that we are excited about in the coming year.   I understand that it was frustrating for all you to that like to buy the value packs to not have them offered, but due to the unknown supply we were facing, we tried to take care of as many customers as we could in 2022.  We ran out of MTB BLACKS late in the year.   We have decided to open up the remaining MTB X balls to allow value packs to be purchased.     Next month I should have all the final protos and plans ready to be ordered and plans for 2023 can be released when we have the final details.  Never give up and let it develop are two of my favorite saying.. we did not give up.. and it is developing quite nice... thanks again for all your support and feedback on this thread and I will make sure to continue to check in time to time to keep everyone posted.. Looking forward to 2023.... game on...

Thank you!  I ordered ten dozen X for the year and very interested in trying the new ball when it's available.  

 

One question:  Is the plan for the protos to replace the current (X) lineup or add to them?

I might have to buy more to be safe.

Agreed, have been playing Snell for 5 years, and have never ordered the value pack.  But, thinking about one for the mtb-x.

I can't see paying more for a ball that performs about the same as another, but that's me and that was/is my reason for buying from Snell vs xxx.

I'm holding out as long as I can to wait for the X in yellow to be available again. Either way I'm going to order bulk, and 5doz might last me 2 years. So I don't want to order 5doz white and then have the Yellow come back in stock a week later. And I don't really want to order 1doz or 2doz white and pay the higher price plus shipping. 

 

I might have to get a dozen ProV1 to hold over until the yellow is back though. I'm running low.

I am in the same boat as most just waiting to hear about / see the new 2023 balls.  Hopefully one of the new models will be my go to ball and I can stock up.  Spending too much money on balls in the 40-50 dollar a dozen range right now.

I'm about to put 20 dozen new in box MTB Blacks in the classifieds if anyone is interested. They were bought in early 2022. Not looking to price gouge. I'll do Dean's pricing, including value packs. Keep in mind, Dean's pricing includes a shipping fee that adjusts depending on how many dozen you buy. This will apply as well. #theblackisback!!!

Normally they aren't "improvements" made to a ball but, tradeoffs. You may change a ball to get more speed or distance but remove spin. You may trade durability for a a better flight package on the urethane / cover outside. 

I was wondering myself how Snell could make things a little better. The MTB / X was the gold standard at MGS until they started getting in bed with Titleist on every single product and somehow made MTB obsolete overnight (for them). 

My guess is Dean will hopefully change the logo on the ball, the pronounced seam if possible and maybe make the yellow a little more durable.

I hope this is the case.  I worked in the design / advertising world for a while and the logo/ typeface used on the snell balls bugs me.  Looks cheap.  I still play them but they could benefit from paying a good graphic designer to freshen it up.  I know this is the last thing a lot of people care about.  But then there is people like me, so it does make some difference in how many people will enjoy having a certain looking ball in the bag.
