Was anyone watching the pga.com feed yesterday on the back 9 on the south? They kept doing a long-drive contest on 13 all day. Ernst had it at like 307 forever and it was getting late. That big boy from Oregon smashed one pretty good near 315 or something but I can't remember if he got the fairway or not. Then DJ steps up. I think he flew it passed the total distance of the longest guy, like 329 or something. 3rd to the last group in wetter and colder air. Animal. They did a slow mo of his swing and his solders went to like 115° where most pro's struggle to get to 90°. His shaft is maybe 3" from his right forearm on the downsing. I only saw Phil with that much lag and wrist bend. Cray cray.

He has been one of my favorite golfers for quite some time. I personally think it will be good for golf if he is playing well. Some people will fight me on that one but I think people like to see athletes bombing the ball. I was a college golfer and have seen a lot of bombers. The first driver I saw him hit in person was still one of the most remarkable shots I've ever seen.

DJ, Bubba and Rory were in a league of their own when I watched them at Augusta. As a side note for anyone who gets to go to Augusta sitting to right of 16 green is a great spot to watch because you can quickly get up turn around and watch the difficult tee shot from 17 tee that requires a little right to left shot up the hill. On the Saturday we saw most of the field come through and with the exception of a maybe 5 guys everyone played a tight little draw up the right side. Impressive to watch.

18 AB's being bagged this week is pretty crazy, should be able to pick up my new r15 this time next week for half price lol!
[/quote]

I think it is a great kick off for the AB brand. The fairway/hybrids are already benefiting from tremendous tour presence. I would be surprised if we don't see some of these guys switch to R15 drivers sooner rather than later.

If the AB is the better driver which it looks like it might be why would anyone switch.

These guys have plenty of distance. I suspect the R15, more specifically the 430, is more workable.

EDIT. I will add, what is good for us amateurs, i.e. Forgiveness and pure distance, isn't what the pros are looking for.

Au Contraire as witnessed by the amount of D2 numbers vs D3 and also G30 vs I25 and Anser. The Ping G series has long been more popular than their player drivers. The modern pro is quite happy with long and straight. Working the ball isn't what it used to be for them off the tee.

I understand what you're saying, but notice who is missing from the list of AB users this week. Jason Day, Justin Rose and it sounds like they had to force Dustin Johnson to play it. Sergio's not gonna play it.

No doubt the AB is a great driver.

If I remember correctly in 2013 DJ had the rocketbladez tour in the bag when they came out, and won with them. I'm not sure how long they lasted but he had his 2011 MBs back in at the PGA that year.

Could just be doing his brand ambassador duties with the aeroburner

There is a also a tour only 9.0 Aeroburner, not sure if he is using that one but several of those 18 pros are using it.

Also that might just be a RIP in Rogue graphics. All of the 2015 TM clubs will have shafts that look like something in their Catalog. Therefore get used to a bunch of older shafts in prototype graphics.

Dustin is super picky about his clubs. They tried a ton of different combos out between R15 and Aeroburner heads and he ended up going with the Aeroburner TP with a Rogue shaft this week. Not sure if he will stick with that setup but I would keep your eyes out for him to change again.

Makes sense, DJ doesn't need the added workability of the R15 430, the AB suits him nicely.
