JPX 850 Pro forged

I survived the NE Golf Expo without spending too much money, I managed to find a few Greg Norman shirts that fit and this rain hood thing http://www.tgw.com/c...96bMRoC2brw_wcB and some funky tee holders that screw into range mats (I had to buy something to justify the $12 entrance fee and $7 Budweiser - I parked on the street for $2.50 a few blocks over because I am a cheap bastxxx).

 

About what I expected, a lot of travel booths, Joe and Leighs and Cape something proshop selling clubs.

 

I was wandering the pro line looking for something to hit and happened on the Mizuno stall.

 

I hit the new bright blue 850 driver, felt good but the sound is as loud as the looks - not for me.

 

But I did end up hitting a few of the JPX 850 Pro irons, they felt amazing and looked even better.

 

My i25's gave me the stink eye when I came home like a wife that finds an email from Ashley Madison in your in box (always log off, always log off)..

 

They are definitely on the top of my list to keep a look out for.

 

My fitter who sold me my Callaway driver is also a Mizzy dealer which makes this even harder.

Just do yourself a favor and get the JPX 850 forged. You will not be sorry. Don't expect huge distance gains but they are fantastic all a round irons!

I've had the 850 forged for about 4 months now and they are an excellent all around iron. They kind of cross over between the MP and JPX line.

Just had my first range session with 850f with ctaper lites. Played ping s55 last season with pxi 5.5. Had a deflating range session with the 850s. Not going to put to much stock into the session cuz it was at a heated range outside and temp was prolly only about 40 with the heat on. They felt kind of harsh even tho ball marks were all over the sweetspot. Hit my 55s to compare and they felt much better. I planned on switching to the 850s for a little xtra forgiveness and distance. Anyone else that have hit these think they feel head heavy? Maybe it could be the shaft but pxi 5.5 and ctaper lite stiff soft stepped once should be really similar. My swing didnt feel great being mid winter in michigan but was surprised at lack of distance and feel. Real temperature outside was 20

Probably the temperature but also try a different shaft.

I've played one round with my new 850 Forged clubs. Was playing Mizzy MX200's and so far I like these a lot better. Anxious to get some range time in.

And dang- I think they are very purdy.

Interesting that I had the exact opposite experience. I absolutely loved the i25 irons and the 850's were just meh. I play Nike stuff so I'm not a fanboy of either manufacture for what it's worth. That's the thing with golf clubs, different strokes for different folks.

i was hitting some JPX 850 Pro's with Ctaper Lite regular shafts yesterday and was blown away. I currently alternate between JPX 825 Pro with KBS Tour Stiff shafts and Adams XTD Forged with Ctaper Stiff. I play to a 5 index. Average 7 iron carry with 825 pro is about 165 and about 173 with the Adams. Average carry with the 850 pro was 180. I then found out that 7 iron was 1 inch below standard. I play both of my other sets at +.5 length. I've never been truly fitted before ( I don't count the PGA Superstore). I want to be fit off real grass to see true ball flight, but nonetheless, the 850's will be in high consideration. I've narrowed my fitting down to:

JPX 850 Pro
AP2 714
Ping I25/S55 (possible combo)

I'm a 7, but a really good ball striker with my irons...definitely my strength. I always played more blade style irons, but I'm really enjoying the extra forgiveness with these.

The 850 forged are pretty amazing. Can't go wrong with those clubs if you decide to go with them. I have a set with Steelfibers in them and they are the best irons I have played, just my 2 cents.

I disagree. I think they feel quite a bit softer, they have less offset, and they look more player's club than the 825 pros.

I've hit the 825 but I've haven't played them. I really like the 850's but I don't think your logic is overly flawed.

haha, i don't even play the pros i play the regular JPX. I've hit the 850's a few times, there's definitely a bit less offset and a smaller overall clubhead. But they aren't different enough to be a different type of iron to me. So i just feel like they'd really give me nothing extra

I think they are sexier though. I mean if my clubs got stolen i'd buy the 850 forged. Just no reason to switch

thought the 825 pro felt a lil better so I got those instead....i have since have moved on but heads were identical cept for the boron metal which felt hotter and firmer

9.5 here my brother is an 8 and he is probably buying them for the upcoming season. They are great irons

I don't have an official handicap....but probably play to a 15-17 right now. Having said that though, ball striking (iron play) is my strong suite. I've played only 4-5 rounds with my 850's and each round has gotten better & better. Flag hunting!
