Why any young player would want to be a running back is beyond me. I mean if the league has gotten to where a 26 year old who is one of the best backs in the league gets traded for a guy coming off an injury and as cap cutting....

The position is just not valued anymore. I feel like the Cowboys could've started some guy named Jabroni Jobberson last year and he would've had 1300yds

Might as well start this thread with a blockbuster.

Lesean Mccoy traded to the Bills for Kiko Alonso.

Wow!!!
Chip turning the Eagles into Oregon. Wouldn't be shocked if Mariotta ends up a Eagle on draft day.
The best part is neither of them won the big one in college, or any of the other guys with the ducks, yet Chip seems to think that will somehow change in the nfl.

And MTLJeff I completely agree the RB position is so devalued right now. Goes all the way back to shanny with the broncos in the early-mid 2000's where he'd grab some guy off the street and turn him into a 1000 yard guy

RB is suicidal on a physical level, but its also probably the most easily replaced part of a team. Not exactly a recipe for success. Still though, this caliber of trade is pretty much unheard of in the NFL.

Pey restructuring down to 15mil for his last year pending a physical, that will save 4 mil. I think Julius is still gone which I'm fine with.

Yes he looked to have noodle arm last post season, but he's still denvers best chance to win next year so I'm for one more shot.
I don't know man.... Chip is a pretty well respected offensive mind. He created an entire system that has dominated college football and almost every offense in the NFL uses at least as a wrinkle. How many coaches or people in the NFL can you say that about? One, and it's Chip Kelly. The last person to do something like that was Bill Walsh. Oregon rode his coat tails last year to the Final Four. He made Oregon relevant and dominate in a state that has very little High School Football talent, he also won his division in his first year as head coach and probably would have done the same last year if his QB didn't get injured. There is a very small handful of NFL teams that would not fire their coach tomorrow to hire Chip. Just because Oregon didn't win does not make him any less of a coach, the fact that he got them there is incredible. And yes I see Philly trading almost their entire draft to move up and get Mariotta.

I am going to echo what I did last year this same time.... The Niners have to get a play maker in the draft, ideally I would like to see them trade up for White or Parker but getting Strong at 15 might also be a good pick. I see White being the best WR this year though. The gamble move would be to trade down and take Coates or Beckham.... I love Coates, he was basically unguardable in college and Beckham might be the biggest talent but also the biggest risk.

If the Niners can get Dockett that would solidify the revolving door that has been DT the last few years.

It's going to be another interesting draft, I would not touch Winston and whomever gets L Will might have the second coming of Reggie White.... I watched him 3 years in college and he can ball....

The Pats did not franchise McCourty, they are not going to bring Revis back at his current rate - which I think everyone knew - and now Wilfork is a free agent.

I should have learned my lesson by now, that its not worth panicking over, that things are not always as bad as they initially appear, In Bill We Trust and they had to get back under the cap - blah blah blah.

But yeesh.

Here's my uneducated opinion about the Pats.

First of All: Never question Kraft or Belichick.

Vince's gone and I'm not losing sleep. I thought he would retire after this years SB win so I already had it in my mind he wouldn't be on the Patriots next year. He also has come off as a guy who wants more $ than he's actually worth. Also look at our 2015 schedule. There are only two teams with RB's that can do damage (BUF, DAL) and one of them (DAL) may not have DeMarco next year so it'd only be one team will a scary running back so a guy like Vince is not necessary for our team to be successful.

Pretty positive the Pats will now be able to sign Revis to a 4-5 year deal and that's what it's gonna take to keep him.

I have a funny feeling we will see Andre Johnson (sign him to a one year deal) in a Patriots uniform next year and I would absolutely love it. Amendola will walk and I could care less about him although he did step it up in this years playoffs but he's not worth the money he's owed next year.
- Edelamn
- LaFell
- Gronk
- A. Johnson
Goodnight...............................

Also, if we don't re sign Vereen (even though I think we will) look for Tyler Gaffney to play a big role next year. The story that came out about Vereen saying he wanted $5 million (which is way more than the Pats would ever pay him) was completely false and Vereen himself confirmed it.

I still have no idea what we are going to do in the draft but I can't wait until the draft starts. We will probably trade our picks like we do every damn year.

If there were ever a year for us to win another SB with Tommy still here 2015 is the year. Look at our regular season schedule......... There are 4 "tough" games, DAL, DEN, IND, PIT. A repeat is definitely doable but my opinion is biased.

Buffalo being as active as they have been this offseason still doesn't scare me at all. They are weak and will continue to be weak. The only team in the AFC East that scares me is Miami to be honest no matter what the Jets or the Bills do.

I think it's going to be too difficult for Philly to move up to get Marcus. If memory serves me correct, Washington gave up 3 #1's and a #2 to move up from drafting 6 to 2 to get RGIII. Philly is at #20. the price is going to be steep - maybe a ricky williams type of action... Just my $.02

Suh reported close to a done deal with the Dolphins. AFC East could be interesting this year.
Deal is done, he will sign when free agency opens up.

The AFC East is going to be a very tough division to win this year, wow.

EDIT: Now it sounds like Hartline is coming to New England. He said that he'd take a "hometown discount" to play with Brady. LOVE IT. He plays very similarly to Edelman and Welker and would be a perfect replacement for Amendola. Signing him could also be very beneficial due to the fact he could give us some solid insight from Miami when we play them.

Agree, the Pats are now @ $20M under the cap - once you subtract the $25M number for Revis. Plenty of room to work a Revis deal in there.

Sealver Siliga is also a reasonable replacement as he's the exact size of Wilfork and only 24.

Best of luck to all your 9ers fans. You guys got screwed with your schedule. Thankfully most of your tough match ups are at home but still.......you have SEA 2x obviously, GB, BAL, CIN, DET and PIT. YIKES

Seahawks have it pretty tough too, having to play GB, DAL, and CIN on the road.

How crazy is it going to be to see Wilfork in a different uniform?

I'm kinda sad but there's always the chance he doesn't t get another offer worthwhile and comes back to New England with a discounted contract. Very slim chances, I know.

EDIT: After hearing that the Suh deal was done, he's still meeting with Oakland? Weird.

Not that I truly thought it would happen, but was his old teammate Willie Young would get in his ear and coax him a few hundred miles west...

Odds are, Bears have no cap space...

It appears Chip Kelly is doing the equivalent of mortgaging the house to invest in options when it comes to the Eagles future. However, he appears to have a really good strategy and will trade with the Jets to get 6th pick if Mariotta is available when it is their pick.
