I did it was not great but in comparison Lynch walks off or was a jerk last year but hey thats just Lynch.

One of the questions asked is

How does it feel to let the black community down?

I mean I'd walk out too

Please tell me you're joking? Did the Broncos win with an entire white team? I would've walked out and possibly turned over the table on the way. My initial reaction to when I heard about this was if Cam is gonna Dab all year he should take his lumps like a man. But forget that Im 100% ok with his actions.

I don't think anyone asked that....

Obviously you're disappointed. On the biggest stage it's difficult, I know.

[nods head]

Did you see anything that you didn't expect tonight?

"They just played better than us. I don't know what you want me to say. They made more plays than us, and that's what it comes down to. We had our opportunities. It wasn't nothing special that they did. We dropped balls, we turned the ball over, gave up sacks, threw errant passes. That's it. They scored more points than us."

Can you put into words the disappointment you feel right now?

"We lost."

Did Denver change anything defensively to take away your running lanes?

"No."

I know you're disappointed not just for yourself, but for your teammates. It's got to be real tough.

[shakes head] "I'm done man."

I think a lot of people have been looking for a chance to bash Cam all year. Its unfortunate that he handed his haters their chance on a silver platter last night.

He showed genuine excitement for Peyton when they shook hands after the game, so I don't quite get the 'sore loser' title.

There were some really idiotic questions asked of him, and he didn't feel the need to answer them. I personally don't love that he walked out of his press-conference, but he has showed his team over an over again that he wants to win and doesn't care about much else. He wears his emotions on his sleeve, and his team feeds off his energy. I think the team will feed off of his energy here and go into next year with his chip on all their shoulders.

That's part of the deal though when you're NFL QB and the league MVP, answering questions. And the simple fact is, the majority of,those questions are going to be stupid. You still handle them with like a man with a little class. It's still my biggest beef with so many pro athletes. When they're on top with things going well they're dancing and celebrating and full of things to say. But when things go bad they pout and sulk, and all of a sudden no hot dogging.

If you want to see a classy interview by a guy of a losing team, Google Like Kuechly's post game interview.

Completely agree with everything you said - Cam should have dealt with the press differently and Luke's post-game interview was as good as they come. I just think that if you take away these negative emotions (the being sullen and crestfallen) then you also have to take away the emotions from the other end of the spectrum, which would be bad for football. I think most of Cam's energy comes from a good place - in that he wants his team to win - and not a selfish place. Unfortunately, its difficult to distinguish the two, especially when most people only watched Cam in the SB and are now reading reactions on social media (I don't think you or anyone on this board is doing that, but its happening).

I have a similar beef with pro athletes as you do, but I think there is a difference between a cocky athlete that blames others in losses, and a confident athlete that shows emotion. I think Cam is the latter, but hes being painted as the former.

Well said. It's mostly my problem, I'm old and cranky! To me, no one did it better than Walter Payton, make a great play, pop back up, hand the ball to the official and head back to the huddle of sideline. Today's "look at me attitude" just gets under my skin. But like I said, I'm crotchety!

Emanuel Sanders, the Broncos wide receiver is another one (Talib also). Every time they make a play they have to make sure they're isolated so everyone can watch them do their "thing". I've always thought that when they screw up, then they should also have to stand out there isolated too.

You know what is interesting is that Larry Fitzgerald used to be just like Walter Payton. Catch the ball get up and go back to the huddle, but I think Bruce Arians has taught him to show a little more emotion when he makes a play because the fans get so excited about it. I think he mainly only does it at home games, but if he makes a catch, he just flexes his muscles or something like that and then goes back to the huddle, and the crowd goes nuts like he just won the super bowl. I think it is part of the strategy these days to get your fans cheering.

Like you alluded to, its a different game these days.

someone really asked that? wow, i would like to know who that was who asked it. i would bet he/she doesn't have a job by the end of the week. OR it's with some low budget no filter no name news company.

Cam set that up with comments he made on race earlier in the week.....

I thought he was responding to questions about race. I actually remember him getting tired of all the racial questions. At one point he even said he didnt want to be looked at as a Black QB. He would rather be seen as just a QB. The reporters kept the race thing going not Cam.

My biggest issue with Cam is he wants to whatever he wants without consequence. If Tom Brady handled himself this way in a post game SB loss would anyone be talking about it? Probably, but the notion would be about how much of a competitor he is. The issue Cam runs in to is he goes through the entire season showboating after TDs, dabbing and pointing when he gets a first down, wearing different 'special' T Shirts and cleats during pre game warm ups and dresses as flamboyant as possible. All of that is completely fine. But it becomes a problem when you b**** and moan all season about how you being treated unfairly (for attention you are unnecessarily drawing on yourself) and then you handle like yourself like grade A d-bag after a loss. If he wants respect from peers, fans, commentators, etc., you can't like a child when times get tough. That's when you define yourself as a professional. If Cam steps up to that podium after the loss, handles it like a man, like a professional (essentially like Greg Olsen and Luke did) than I think all of his showmanship is perfectly fine. Instead he acts like a petulant child treated unfairly by the world. You can't have it both ways buddy.

Cam is an incredible talent. He's a great face for the game... if he matures. He is an entertainer. He just needs to get the part of being a leader down when times get tough.

Hats off to the Broncos. Their defense played a great game and took advantage of a team that simply did not show up. Critical dropped passes, overthrown balls to wide open WRs early in the game, missed FG and one terrible play on punt coverage is what lost them the game. Fundamental plays cost them.

I guess with Fitzgerald, you just know from his past actions that he is a classy individual. So maybe subconsciously he gets granted a little more leeway.

Um, ESPN is carrying the NFL's water. They do not want that question to be out there. I've read a couple of places where people have said they heard the letting down the community question.

Plus, remember, this is only an "issue" because the sports media thinks they are so important and they act like babies whenever someone doesn't do what they want. If Newton hadn't gone to congratulate Manning, I'd be upset. This? With the dumb questions being asked? Please. It's amazing how much attention is paid to things that are only important to a very small number of people.

Newton is on the way to being a guy the teammates and coaches like and respect, but because he doesn't kiss the media's Word not allowed, will end up being branded a jerk by guys who do nothing more than bloviate.

Comments in a couple of stories brought the question up after listening to the video.

I watched the video and didn't hear it asked. But I had the volume kind of low at that point and when I read the report I just assumed I couldn't hear everything being asked.

EDIT -- Just read this article and heard it talked about a little on Mike and Mike (essentially that Cam could hear the Broncos' players celebrating at least)

The fact that Carolina had 2 weeks to prepare, watch film, watch the Patriots O-line get absolutely destroyed/embarrassed (which led to their O-line coach getting fired) and still didn't have a plan to slow them up is laughable. Maybe the fact they have a mobile QB gave them false hope. Put a TE in to block or a RB. I've never see a team get absolutely destroyed up front and the Offensive coordinator be so stubborn/stupid as to not make adjustments. Your QB doesn't have time for a 5 step drop, start running plays that require only a 3 step drop. Or better yet, start throwing some screens to the RB and that will possibly help back them off or slow them down.

but yet, Belichick will go down as one of the best coaches in NFL history. no one cares about his interviews even after he wins.

also same can be said about Manning a few years ago in the Super Bowl getting blown out. that offense was hot all season and then got punched in the mouth from the opening play.

Yup completely agree, they had like the two or 3 long completions but outside of that all their plus plays were some kinda miss direction. They had the one good triple option, Cam's miss direction run, and the unbalanced line rollout throwback play to olsen.

The difference is Belichick doesn't change the way he gives a presser win or lose. Greg Popovich is the same way. Short answers and to the point, sure in some cases the answers can be viewed as snide but they're consistent. They aren't flashy in the wins and grim in the loses.

This look anything like Cam's presser?

I can't stand Cam. Not because of his race nor his dancing and celebrating. I just don't like any player on a rival team and he's been on 3 now (2 in college 1 in the pros). With that said, I have ZERO problems with him walking off. The NFL poorly planned that. No way should he have been doing his post game 10 feet from Broncos players. And if you watch the alternate angles, you could tell Chris Harris's interview going on so close with what he was saying about Cam was agitating him. He cuts his eyes a few times that direction before he walks off. No one says anything about Brady doing it a month ago nor the several other times in his career. No one said anything when Peyton did it after not even shaking Drew Bree's hand after they beat them in the SB. No one says anything about Belichik's 1 word answers in pressers. Nor Aaron Rodgers walking off. All of the greats you want to name have done it at some point. But when Cam did it, social media exploded. I don't get it. Like I said, don't like him, but I understand it. He hates losing. He doesn't wear it well. That's the type of dude I want, one that cares that much. Our generic answers in the media get boring. Coach speak in the media get boring. Cam left because he was pissed and knew where it was going. He didn't let it go there by walkin off. I say it's a good call

No one mentioned the challenged incomplete pass play?

Bad call, and that makes make question the integrity of major sporting events. Considering that the Super Bowl is the single most betting venture of the year, it wouldn't surprise me if it were fixed (venal). I mean Denver's defense was tough, but Cam was certainly not acting like Cam. There are way too many people involved in these games to say it is/isn't all a ruse.

Oh well same s***, different year, bring on 2017!

NFL needs to address the catch thing. From the way they've been calling it, not a catch..... Should it be? I don't know. Guy hits the ground, ball hits, and moves up his body. It was my understanding that the ball can hit the ground provided the receiver maintains control, ie ball doesn't move

NFL needs to get this crap under control though. It's sad when as many people are talking about the call as talking about other points of the game.

The NFL is not going to change the, lol, catch rule. And for one reason. It is able to cram more commercials into a game. Period. Refs going to the booth, we'll be right back after these 5 commercials.

Oh well same s***, different year, bring on 2017!

We talked about it quite a bit on previous pages. It wasn't a catch by the book. They got it right.

I like to think I was unbiased while viewing the game. I didn't care who won. I wanted to see Peyton get one more but at the same time, Carolina had 4 Buckeyes starting in the game. For me it was a win/win. Just wanted a good game.

IMO, it wasn't a catch and they got it right. The ball was moving and when he first went to the ground, it appeared to my eyes that the nose of the ball hit the turf while it was still moving. It can touch the ground if he is controlling it and the ball isn't moving, but, at that point the ball was clearly moving and after it hit the ground the ball fully came lose again.

There was nothing to definitively show it did or did not touch the ground. It looked like it did but you really have to make an assumption since his arm was somewhat in the way. Either way, there was not enough evidence to overturn it. If it had been called a catch, the play would have stood.

I was kind of shocked when the announcers claimed it was clearly a catch and the refs got it wrong. On the first replay I thought it was clearly not a catch or at least was so close that it couldn't be overturned. Then again, they were probably looking at the replay on a small screen in the box.

I actually thought this game was pretty well called. The announcers poured some gasoline on the fire when it shouldn't have been poured.

Carolina wins that game if they executed the fundamentals (I.e. Catching the football, hitting wide open relievers and punt coverage). They didn't and that's why they lost. This is a good example of what can happen when you have players being key contributors who aren't fundamentally sound. In other words, they relied on Ted Ginn and Philly Brown way too much. As a buckeye fan, if you had told me either of those guys would be starters on a super bowl team I would laughed hysterically at you. Ted ginn... Brick hands and hates to be hit. Philly brown.... Undersized, slow and never really made big plays.

The refs called an OK game in my eyes. The penalty stats look a bit lopsided, but it's deceiving. I tend to only look at judgement call penalties since everything else is pretty cut and dry.

Denver had the taunting call, unnecessary roughness, and holding called on them. Carolina had 2 defensive holds (one declined), 2 unnecessary roughness, and one unsportsmanlike called on them, however one of the unnecessary roughness calls was with 12 seconds left so I can't count it. That leaves Denver with 4 judgement penalties, and Carolina with 4 with only 3 accepted. Pretty even.

Carolina had more procedural penalties on them for sure, but you can't blame a ref for those. Carolina had two big calls on special teams for illegal blocks, but I don't view those as judgement calls since they're generally pretty obvious. Only reason I include holding is because it happens a lot and the refs pick and choose when to throw the flag. PS, Denver also had two penalties on special teams.

Generally I'd expect to see more holding calls, but man, those D-line guys were getting to both QBs faster than a lineman could even grab them!!!

Since we started with blockbuster Shady news, it's fitting the thread comes full circle... He's being investigated for an altercation he was involved in which one cop was beaten so badly is in the hospital with bleeding on the brain. I'm not saying he's guilty, but they're investigating it.

NFL = prison league?

Kind of funny that when NE was 10-0 they were "angry" and "motivated" and Tom was "making them pay". Any NE fans know what happened to all that anger?

Also Niners have the best true fans period on this website. We're good we post, we suck we post. Other teams, not so much. What happened to all those Seahwak fans from prior years? Go Hawks!

You got one thing right, the niners do suck... ;) (had to do it). Honestly, I hope the niners can turn it around, I love the Hawks/Niners rivalry.

Really though, was an entertaining postseason, the best teams from both conferences got through, it was just disappointing they both couldn't play their best game. Although Denver's D played their usual game, which is very disrupting. Recently the "defense wins championships" saying has been coming true...

Shady was in a bar brawl that included a couple off duty cops. TMZ has the footage and from what I can tell the cops were in street clothes. Getting into a bar brawl is dumb enough but maybe he didnt know the guys he had issue with were cops?
