drunk with love....My new face balanced, crazy twist, long neck DH89 dark rum finish

Well, my journey for my very first custom putter is complete... I can say that Byron was as nice to deal with as anyone I have ever met. Not only did he listen to what I wanted.. a 303 A.S.S. DH89, he put me in touch with Bruce Rearick to dial in on what I NEEDED... and that was a face balanced putter... so we talked and talked and he said if we go with a welded long hosel he can get me close to FB... then as we spoke and figured out that my lie angle was 68* he said he could nail the FB.. which he did. There is no grip on it so I am not sure if that will take some of the toe hang away but I think he got this as close to FB as one can. He was even nice enough to send me the grip uninstalled so I can put it on myself along with some Byron poker chips.

 

His communication is great, although it is short and sweet and to the point... "Yes" "Thank you" "Any day now"... I mean, the guy sent me my putter and then sent me the remaining balance of my bill...

 

I can't say enough nice things about the man and while I am hoping this lasts me a long time I just wish I was a collector so I can get something else from him!!

Is there such a thing as a clean twist neck? If so, this is it! I'm not usually a fan of those but this looks awesome. I think because it looks symmetrical as opposed to most others I've seen.

So the final specs are this

3* loft
68* lie
34" length
American Stainless
350g

Tuna Can Mill #4: I chose this because I like the deep mill look but I prefer the feedback from a fine milled face... so, to me, this was the best of both worlds... it is by no means a deep mill but it gives the illusion of one all the while providing nice sound feedback.
Brushed Dark Rum Finish... from what I understand he came up with this to get an oil can look on a stainless steel putter
Orange paintfill.... die hard Syracuse Orange fan (bball season ticket holder, i know we had a tough year), and I have my bachelor's from St. Bonaventure University....We were the Brown Indians until we had to change that name but our colors are still brown and yellow... so this is the best of both worlds for me

I had 2 different SAM Lab putter fittings at Turning Stone Resort with Marty Nowicki... who is also a St Bona grad!... I went to him in September of last year and he gave me stuff to work on, then, I went back to him in January and did another round of SAM lab testing along with some work on a roll board. From there, Marty sent me the SAM report and I sent that to Byron who then forwarded it to Bruce. Bruce then asked me a few questions as to my eye dominance etc and said that according to the report my misses were right and that I would need more of a face balanced putter than one with a toe hang. I told him I wanted a DH89 and he said Byron should be able to get close to FB with a long neck and that is exactly what we went with.
To my surprise there was no extra charge for Bruce's help.
These guys are great to work with.

Stampings.... I wanted to incorporate the Skull and the Coyote on the sole and Byron came up with the idea of having the Coyote howl at the skull instead of the moon.. I really like the Circle HB and like naked bumpers so I came up with the cavity idea and Byron had to tweak it so it would fit.

Haha...at first glance, it looked like a doorway to me with someone staring into where you were sitting. Hopefully the snow melts for you soon so you can play this thing. I spent the first few years of my life in Syracuse and can honestly say I do not miss the winters one bit.
