2015 US Open Qualifying - WRXers: who's in?

Really wanted to this year, but just don't have the time to really get my game in order. Bummed out too because I really like on of the venues in my region. Oh well, next year, and there's always the mid am!

Playing the East course of the Broadmoor in Colorado Springs this year. Looking forward to a chance to tame those greens a little more. I'll be the first to admit that I play this qualifier more for the chance of playing the course two times for $175. Last year I played and head a great start and had a couple funky shots and fell apart so I'm looking forward to some redemption this year!

Have you played Blue Hills CC before? It is a good track. A practice round and/or local knowledge is invaluable. I played it 3-4 times during the 2013 Missouri Amateur.

I played both the East and West courses last year. You ain't kidding about those greens. I wouldn't consider myself a great putter, but I'm not terrible either. Those greens made me look like a first timer at a putt putt course. HOW DOES IT BREAK THAT WAY, THAT'S AGAINST PHYSICS!!!!!

I was literally laughing. We had two good putters, knew the local putting rules about the breaks, and putted embarrassingly bad. I'm talking, oh it breaks right 1 foot and then you hit it perfectly and it breaks left two feet. I hit the ball on a string all day with the exception of one bad hole. The putter tho, just absolutely wrecked me. I drove hole 4 on the west course as they had the tees up to 350 (passive brag and Colorado mountain air). Had a 10 footer for eagle that I had breaking six inches left and it literally broke 2 feet right.

Looking forward to getting a stab at the East Course!

I wish...my game is very rusty, and my index is at a 2.1. I can go out and shoot like an 82 without warning lol

Your index needs to be 1.4 or lower to enter a qualifier but I'm guessing you know that. Unless you are well into the + range you don't have a sniff anyway, although it would be a fun experience.

Agreed. I think today is the last day to register, so wishing the best to all the WRXrs playing in the qualifiers. Here's to rooting some of you on in sectionals, and maybe at the big show!

Tried to sign up today, but every spot near me was full. Oh well.

For first time seeing the course...im happy. Took a caddie from the club and gained some very good knowledge about lines/clubs off tees...as well as how to read the fast greens there. Shot 36/39 ...75 on the par 70, 6800+ yard setup. I can easily shave alot off...just some errors comin into a few greens and 35mph winds on the back. Very happy w my game right now, esp my driver and wedges.

Was planning on it but a new job and relocation thwarted my efforts. Haven't nearly practiced or played enough. Struggling to break par consistently at my club and in the few tournaments I have played, I haven't even broke 75 yet, 77 seems to be my number right now. Kind of sucks growing up and real life issues get in the way. Hope to do the U.S. mid-am and the usga 4 ball. Missed the 4 ball nationals by one shot last year.

i played on some of the fastest greens i have in my entire life during my qualifier. the course played incredibly hard. for a par 70, with 1.4 handicappers...it averaged about 76.8 scoring wise. I shot 80...i couldn't putt worth a **** on the front nine...i blew my chances out of the water on the second hole. dogleg right par 5...middle of the fairway is 300, OB is 335. i hit driver and went OB. took a 7. shot 43/37...got my act together on the back 9 but it was too little too late.

I'm positive about my experience, regardless of score - as my first foray into competitive golf (yes, my first REAL tourney i tried qualifying for)...i took a lot away from it.
