AimPoint Express

Recommended Posts

I've been really struggling the past couple of years with my putting. I decided to email an AimPoint Express instructor to learn more about it and perhaps start reading greens better. The going rate is for his clinic pricing is Express 1 $125 and Express 2 $100 or $225 total.

Looks like I'm going to continue to struggle reading greens because I ain't paying $225!

I'm really disappointed that it costs so much to get instruction.

Yeah, not cheap !! Guy around me is $250 for a 2 hr private lesson. I like that better than a clinic which is far less personal time. Still haven't made up my mind---no issue cause there's still a foot of freaking snow on the ground anyway !!!!

With respect sir - can you post a link? That's cheap IMO. For less than the price of 1 guest fee at a nice course - you can take a lesson that helps EVERY round of golf? It's cheaper than a lesson at a country club with a pro; or a golf school; or a Dave Pelz class.

People struggle for years with putting (you said you struggle too) - and to have something (possibly) that will change their games so quickly - I think that's a steal. Only lesson I had that was so impactful was a putting esson with Mike Shannon and that was much much more than both of the Aimpoint courses.

Where can you sign up?

Unless I am mistaken, the creators of AimPoint have set a price on the lessons and each instructor must charge that price. They didn't want their product watered down or mis-represented.

There are plenty of youtube vidoes on Aimpoint that will get you moving in the right direction. And there are a couple of threads on this site that explain a lot. If $225 is too rich for your blood, just dig out the info from those sources.
Agreed a little work can get you started. The basics are out there, if you feel like you are liking the direction those take you then you may find the price is well worth it to get the more advanced and subtle concepts. Let me help get you started.

1. Use your feet to feel the slope.

2. Watch this video to realize how your aim has been wrong with said slope.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7e8UgT6LrW4

3. Make more putts, then realize you still need an aimpoint class. :censored2:

yeah this seems like a no brainer, first just take the level one course and decide if you like it. and thats 150 and i would be my life if there was a golf club that could drop an index by 1 stroke it would be the best selling thing ever. not saying this will do that but the its far more promising. you cant watch a tourney these days and not see several folks doing it.

I'm not sure about that. I took an 2-hour Aimpoint Express (Level 1 & 2) class from a Certified Instructor for under $100.

Yeah, it has definitely helped me, particularly with putts outside of 15 feet. I had a tendency to grossly under-read them. Much more confident in those reads now. As long as I get the speed right, it is in or a tap-in. I need to get some more practice with recognizing the correct slope, particularly for shorter putts.

Have you seen any benefits Qmany? Is it something you use all the time now?

Thanks

i've taken L1 class. Do I use it all the time now? Most of the time (like 80%), but the reason why is that sometimes I can just see it now right away rather than doing the full AE method, which it itself doesn't take that long to begin with. What I mean just by walking up and looking and feeling with my feet I can already see it without having to do behind, middle, hole measuring method and then I'll just put my fingers up, set up, and putt. Has it improved my putting? Don't know if statistically I'm a better putter but my green reading is better. If anything I used to over-read breaks (probably from reading that am's under-read breaks). Secondly, rather than just blindly guessing where I should putt (which is really what I was doing), I now have a methodology to find where I should be aiming and a specific aimpoint. Whether I found the right aimpoint or not is a different problem, but at least i found _some_ aim point, and I think that was HUGE for me. My misses are much closer than they used to be.

Even at $225, it's cheaper than a new Scotty Cameron putter that won't help you hit putts no matter what the cost. I'm seriously considering it, but I still have more than a foot of snow on the ground here in Michigan.

The confidence alone is worth one lesson and the closer you get and the more you make, that confidence will grow and last a lot longer than the honeymoon with a new putter.

did a two hour aim point express course today. I was impressed and i'm never impressed. Will definitely be using it on the course.
what impressed you about it? what were your expectations going in?
I thought 'here we go, another get good quick golf con'.

I was the biggest skeptic trust me. Once it's been explained it's quite impressive. I'm not a good green reader but i am an aggressive putter which he could see. Once i got the hang of it i was making some very solid putts. It's amazing how much i was under reading putts. Look forward to getting on the course with it :)

I can't speak highly enough of Aimpoint Express. It is really, really good.

I picked up the digital Husky level yesterday and did some focused practice with it on the putting clock.

I had a good practice session yesterday using the Husky level and a few tees, so I thought I could share. Coincidentally, I had a few tees in my bag that had one, two, and three stripes on them. It made it easy for this practice, but certainly is not necessary.

4 feet out from the hole, I used the digital level to find 1, 2, and 3% slopes. I marked them with the corresponding tees. From there, I placed another tee at 8 feet on the same line. That simply, I had 6 putts to practice, from 4 feet and 8 feet, with three different slopes. I would go through my routine and pick out my Aimpoint at every spot.

It is a really simple exercise, and takes very little time to setup, but I think many would find it helpful.
