Nippon WV 115 Tour Wedge Shafts Review

I was one of the lucky ones to win the wedge shafts. I wanted to finally give you my update on these shafts in my wedges.

 

Clubs:

I had these installed into my Taylormade xFT 50,54 and 58 degree wedges. I had DG Spinners in them, which i liked but wanted to try something different.

 

Apperance:

These make the wedges look super nice and at address they are appealing to the eye.

 

Testing:

I took all 3 to the range to start my testing. After a long winter layoff it was great to get out and swing. After i got back into the swing of it, i started my testing of the wedges. The feel of the shafts on full shots is crisp with nice feedback, you can tell if you caught it good or not. It is not harsh it is just right, even on the cold day. The ball flight is mid-trajectory with no balloning. You dont have to swing like a gurrilla to get it to fly out there, nice easy swing gets lots of performance. It was easy to take some off the shot with out any weird feeling or manipulation. The spin it produces it wonderful, you dont feel like you have to rip the cover to get it to spin nor do you get the hey why didnt that do anyting shots.

On short shots like chips, pitches and flops it is also very steady. The feedback is wonderful on these shots, you can feel if you caught it crisp or not. It is a effortless feeling when you chip these. Distance control is very easy with these shafts, dial back your motion and it goes how you want it. It also will respond to what you want it to do, roll out, go high with soft landing and standard shots around the green. It will handle all lies and conditions.

I didnt use the bunkers, they were a mess.

 

Findings:

These are the best wedge shafts i have used, i have tried many Rifle Spinners, DG Spinners, Standard Rifles and KBS Wedge shafts. If you are looking for a great feeling shaft for your wedges to me this is the one or a different one from Nippon.

Great review! I have a Modus 115 wedge but I haven't tried it yet. How did you find the feeling of the lighter weight? Did you notice it was lighter than other wedge shafts you've tried?

I have been wanting to try WV125 for a while but never pulled the trigger.
After reading this, I may give it a shot.

I agree I put some original wv115's in my new vokey cold forged and they are simply amazing. Great feeling shaft and able to control distance and flight much better than the dg spinners I had in them.

I found the lighter weight a perfect feel, it let you keep a smooth tempo without sacrificing feel or control. This is a great addition to the shaft, I never expected a lighter shaft to have this much feel and control. I didnt notice any difference being a lighter shaft compared to the other ones i have used. It felt like that i had these in my clubs for years, which is how it should be when trying a new shaft.

I play it in my Eye 2 XG SW..... It performs so flawlessly. Definitely produces more spin greenside on chips & pitches.

Have used dg, spinners, kbs, px, and host of wedge shafts that matched my iron sets....

Tried these in a fourteen wedge and these for me were best wedge shaft I ever used...I never got a whole set because their expensive....but I would use these in my wedges in heartbeat....very smooth, easy to load and hit any shot needed....at $40 a pop it's tough though....

If you're looking for the WV shafts, then yes, golfworks sells them, both the 115 and the 125. They also have a 105, but I don't know much about that one.
