I would beg to differ those U.S. Open players considered the conditions or this year's conditions at Chambers Bay in excellent playing condition...The USGA has turned the US Open into an embarrassment...

I'm at the Shriners this week at a TPC course that is pga managed. Besides the greens, which look fantastic, I would actually say the fairways and course are in much better shape at my CC course.

Jaylasvegas is actually saying some truth! Why would people compare a PGA Tour course to their private country? The PGA Tour sets some pretty hefty requirements for the playing week. The fairways are mowed extremely tight and fast. That puts a lot of stress on the turf.

Golfers are complainers because they have to blame their bad shots on something. Too much sand in the bunker, not enough sand in the bunker, the rough is too high, the greens are too slow. If private clubs had Tour conditions everyday 1. your dues would be astronomical 2. golf would be so difficult you would quit the game. The game of golf was not designed for perfect conditions and raked sand traps. If The Old Course at St. Andrews didn't have it's history, most Americans wouldn't cross the street to play it. Again, it's the elitism mentality in the country clubs of the US. The UK welcomes it's golfers. There are only 6 clubs in all of the UK that people can't play. Compare that to the US, no wonder we lose the Ryder Cup, they truly have a nation behind them!

My year at my club corp course is up and I decided not to renew. I had a good experience with them overall and got to play some cool courses on the east coast for only cart fees. I'm only leaving because I am turning 35 in a few months and as a result my dues go way up. This isn't a club corp policy though as another club corp course in my area doesnt jack up the rates till 40.

It's obvious CCA pumps money into certain courses and not others. And for putting for dough who thinks I just love CCA, not true! Prestonwood CC would have went under after Vance Miller past away, so I am very thankful for CCA coming in and purchasing it along with the upgrades! But that is exactly what CCA does, they buy courses and don't build them. That is why they don't have any really emotion towards their properties. If they course falls apart, they still own the land and can recoup some of their losses by selling. They are a for profit business and do what they have to do. Everyone with a company (we are talking Fortune 500 companies) understands the game they are playing. Golf courses are very personal to its members, just not to the owners. Sad but true!

I think it all depends on the people working at the club, GM, Superintendent, Director of Golf, etc.. I would say the only thing CCA has done wrong is not terminating the employees responsible for not addressing the issues. I am a member of lower end CCA club in Dallas area and we are in much better shape then the pics above. Even with the best Management company low performers can still ruin a product.

Thanks for all the comments. I decided the Club Corp value vs price just wasn't worth it. I dropped out last month after spending 16 years at my club.

I took advantage of several good courses in the Atlanta and Charlotte but unless you are within an hour of multiple choices the ONE Program wasn't worth it IMO. Several of the guys in our large group are headed out the door. The subtle price increases along with the almost guarantee they will keep going up each year pushed us over the edge.
