Tiger looked like the nice family oriented guy who came from a tight bond with his father. Now that looks foolish.

Tiger turning out to be mostly PR and little substance to back it up doesn't mean Spieth is anything other than what we see. If Jordan falters we can cross that bridge when it happens, if ever, which I doubt.

Could you please reference any time, Tiger has been arrested ? committed fraud, professional or otherwise ? not been generous with time and money ?

His kids love him, that counts for something no ??? men and women fall into and out of love all the time, that is no reason to regard someone as not a good person .... no ??

Tis true.

And if you read my whole post you would see where I stated many times that I said it doesn't mean Speith will turn out the same way but I think we all should just pump the brakes a little....

Speith, afterall, has been the face of a gigantic apparel company since he was 19. Make no mistake, he has a team around him making sure things are perceived a certain way. Now don't get me wrong here, I truly think Speith looks like a great guy. But you also have to factor that in.

True enough.

Personally, i believe its none of my business what someone else does in their personal life. If you wish to 'entertain' strippers, good luck to you!! Our children will filter out whats good and bad via us if we're responsible parents.....
I seem to remember a 21 year old Tiger Woods B-lining off the 18th green to give his father and mother a bear hug with giant smiles on their faces.

Look, I agree, I think Jordan is a quality character guy. From all that I have heard and seen (which is nothing beyond what is TV) he seems like a great kid. But so did Tiger in 1997. All I am saying is before we cast this light that he is 100% pure in every way, we should reflect on the past. At 21 years old Tiger could do no wrong either. Tiger looked like the nice family oriented guy who came from a tight bond with his father. Now that looks foolish. I'm not saying I believe the same thing will happen with Speith, I just think we should step cautiously before we paint him with this perfect brush. Unless you know Jordan personally, you know absolutely nothing about him. You only know what he and his team want you to know/see. Money, fame and power can easily affect people. I personally, don't think children should look up to athletes for anything more than their actions purely on the playing field.
First off, there's nobody perfect (painted with this perfect brush), secondly, nobody is saying he's perfect (100% pure in every way). Although, with a little common sense you can tell a person's character quite well. I am confident JS will represent the PGA, and his personal life, with integrity, I can just sense it. Will he be perfect, no, nobody is. Will he be an individual that kids look up to for a role model? Yes, you can count on it. Already JS is much more of a gentleman then Tiger ever was, high fiving the fans left and right, no making excuses, and proving he is loving family man. It's funny how commentors in here assume the most extreme positions when trying to make a point, and I am not trying to do that with either TW of JS. Tiger was a great golfer, but pretty much fell off the face of the golfing world in larger part from his lifestyle. If a person is considered to be a super-star like Tiger, you can bet your bottom dollar he will get scrutinized immensely, and rightfully so. JS, if he attains such a level, he will also be scrutinized.

Really? When Tiger was 21 you knew that much about him already? I seem to only remember a kid who was taking the golf world by storm. A guy who was unbelievably close with his family (specifically his father). A guy was breathing life into golf. The excuses and blowing off fans came after the first Masters win. That came once every single golf hole he played was a circus.

If I remember correctly, Tiger had just signed with a gigantic apparel company trying to forge their way into the golf industry. Sound familiar?

But going back to the role model for kids thing. The way I have always viewed it is that athletes should not be role model. Kids should look up to the incredible talents they have on the field and the work ethic it took to get them to where they are but beyond that athletes should not be looked to a role models. We simply don't know enough about them to look up to them. Whether its PEDs, domestic abuse, cheating, etc. there are so many instances where that person whom was portrayed one way by the media ended up being completely different.

Exactly.

Alright I need to stop posting here because the overall point I was trying to make (pump the brakes on the 21 year old) is getting lost. I like Jordan. I'm happy he won. Hopefully he can continuing working hard and will continue to improve and win. Hopefully he can keep himself grounded to his morals/beliefs that got him to where he is at such a young age. It would great for golf to naturally pass the torch from Tiger to a Rory/Jordan era.

Very good points.. Role models are for those kids that lack parents that care... just my honest opinion

Spieth looks like he a revving up to pull a greg norman. Maybe it will be a good learning experience like it was for Mclroy. Will be too funny if Charlie pulls it out..
Revving up to pull a Greg Norman? Were you even watching the Masters? Spieth is a putting machine and tearing it up.

He shot under par again and tied the all time record.. Then slipped on his green jacket.

No he didn't melt down like Greg Norman and shoot 78 and lose a 6 strike lead... poor Norman never did win a green jacket.

I'd give you my golf towel to wipe the egg off your face if I could.. Lol!
