Grumpy wedge stamping rant -- readers beware!

Jason Gore's new wedges reminded me how much I despise the new trend of stamping movie lines, etc. on wedges. To each their own, of course -- but, just out of curiosity, does anyone else think that having not-particularly-funny lines from terrible films stamped on your wedges makes you look like a total d-bag?

 

To end on a positive note: Thongchai Jaidee's name-as-Thai-flag stamps are really cool.

There are so many reasons to be pissed off on a golf course that I'm not gonna be pissed at a guy for personalizing his clubs. To each his own though.

a movie that you don't like might be very enjoyable to others.

I don't play the wedge, so it doesn't bother me.

I think the stampings give a little bit of insight into the personality of the player.

I think that wedge stamping is pretty cool. A great way to personalize your sticks. If the people that are swinging them like it, who cares?

The trend of saying "to each their own," when it should be "his own" (or "her own," if you prefer), is much more troubling.

Does a movie line stamped on a wedge make someone a DB? No. Something DB'ish stamped on a wedge? Maybe.

I'm confused, Jason Gore's wedges (according to [url="http://www.golfwrx.com/forums/topic/1168535-jason-gores-custom-stamped-vokey-wedges-2015-zurich-classic/"]this post[/url]) have stampings for his cars as a bit of a dig at Ian Poulter's car collection. I think it's awesome and hilarious. That being said, the OP needs to let up a bit, if you want to stamp your wedge(s), whatever you want (non-offensive / not racist) is cool with me. If I get the joke / reference, all the better.

Jason Gore's mockery of Poulter's obnoxious stampings is what brought this to mind. Since Poulter is to my knowledge the only player thus far to rise to that level of obnoxiousness, I thought we could discuss the lower-level bad taste (IMO, of course) of stamping lines and so forth. So: it seems like basically no one agrees with me, which is fine and not partcularly unusual. I will point out that I never implied that anyone shouldn't do just as they please with their wedges or anything else, but that doesn't mean I can't think it is silly. I suppose this phenomenon now joins white belts, bejeweled belt buckles, wearing ankle socks with trousers, and many other trends on the tour in the Things I Just Don't Get pile.
