Memorable..... But For The Wrong Reason

Ok, haven't seen this one done...

 

Let's try it... See how many laughs we can have...

 

How many of you can come up with a picture of a particular Hole on a Particular Course that you remember... And probably will forever....

 

But because of how stupid or asinine it is...

 

( Inspired by the really stupid concept of uneven Tee Boxes at the U.S. Open )

 

 

Hole #4 @ RiverBend Golf Course in Wilder, ID

 

Bout 300 yard par 4 depending on tee markers... Lil longer from the tips...

 

Undulating fairway, OB on left ( Snake River )

 

Tree Lined on right side... Very little Margin for error...

 

 

 

And....

 

Wait for it....

 

A STINKIN Silo sits directly to the right of the green and is ABSOLUTELY in play from every angle of approach if you're just a lil bit offline.

 

 

This picture is taken from below and to the left of the green. The Silo is actually a touch in front of the green on your approach.

I'm tellin ya... I've seen bladed approach shots go screaming INSIDE this thing..

This is hands down the dumbest hole I have every played *island greens not included*

The 18th at Stoneridge GC in Prescott AZ.

Par 5 630 yards from the back tees. The satellite view does not justify the shear dumbness of this golf hole. some lowlights.

From the back tees we drove it to the red line or past aprox 330-340 yards from the tee at elevation plus downhill downwind firm fairways (not a passive brag)
From there you have two choices carry the ball 225 yards or so across a hazard to an uphill green designed to accept wedge shots not long irons hybrids fairway woods etc. Come up a yard short ball rolls back to hazard. Go long have a nasty downhill chip off a 25-30% slope to a green that runs away from you and into the hazard.

Want to lay up, well it is totally blind to the layup landing area thanks to a 50+ foot drop in elevation starting at the blue line. Carry it too far and you find a bunker or worse, carry it too short it lands on the downslope picks up speed and likely ends up in the bunker. The 3rd would then be a semi blind PW or 9 iron straight back up the hill again aprox 50+ feet elevation change. to a small green especially if the pin is on the right. If it is on the left you must control the spin or it is spinning off the green and possibly back down the hill

I was so confused on this hole thankfully our drives went far enough the safest option was to hit hybrid at the green and hope to get lucky. I then was thinking what if you did not have a big tailwind that helped put you in range to go for it, Fore_Life can attest to this. I decided the easiest way to lay up was to hit putter and let it roll down the hill to the flat, even that rolled out into the bunker. I made par from both balls but first and only time in my life I have laid up with a putter.

#14 Ruby Hill GC, Pleasanton CA: about 190 yds from the back tees, to a medium sized green. The problem is that there is a large leafy tree directly in front of the green, about 40 ft high and 30 feet wide. So the player must hit a very high approach shot. To make it more difficult, there is a barranca right of the green and dense rough to the left. There is absolutely no bailout.[/size][/color]

I stood on the tee for a few minutes, slack-jawed in amazement at how stupid the hole was. A few minutes later when I walked off the green with a double bogey I was fuming.[/size][/color]

I thought 18 at Stoneridge was a good hole. I hit driver to about 280 and 3 wood into the front bunker. Up and down for birdie.

I wonder if I had needed to lay up left if I would have a different opinion.

Worst hole for me - hole 6 at Lick Creek Golf Course in Pekin, IL. 586 yards with OB left, 30 yards of fairway, then a creek with tall trees overhanging on the right.

The tee box is sloped a solid 10* above your feet. You have 25 yards to hit it in and a forced 230 yard carry over a ravine to a soft fairway.

Then, the fairway moves to the right and back to the left leaving you blocked out unless the layup is perfect.

It's uphill the whole way and is just the most ridiculous hole. Jim Thorpe is said to have played a Pro-Am there and on that tee said "What the f****!" and nothing more.
