Which photo editor picked that image? It is not flattering to a young lady who can look very good indeed.

All kidding aside, I do like Michelle Wie and I wish the best for her, but it's just frustrating to be a fan of hers. All that talent with no results.....It's like your favorite baseball team has a 6'5" 240 lb 1st baseman that is built like an adonis but hits .260 6hr 56 RBI for the year. after year, after year.

Wie is #26 in driving distance at 256yds.
Ko is #49 in driving distance at 252yds.

Wie hits 59% of fairways.
Ko hits 77% of fairways.

Interesting choice for the cover of a mag.

I love Michelle Wie. She used to have the best swing in golf. Last year at the US Open for example. But that crazy wide stance is awful. I don't know how she hits the ball from there. Her feet are outside her shoulders! How do you hit a big drive with no hip rotation. It just looks awkward to me. She's gonna tinker her way off the tour. Not a big fan of Leadbetter, but even he's trying to get her back to basics. I give him credit for that.

Those final 8 girls in the 4-ball all had beautiful swings that looked effortless. I agree with the guy above, it's frustrating to be a fan of hers. She should be dominating the tour.

Time to take a good hard look in the mirror. Even if her swing was not the sloppy mess that it is now she should not be dominating the tour. For starters she was never a very good putter. Second there is a lot that goes into the tournament-winning golf formula. Mental fortitude being a huge part of that. Even Michelle's most rabid fan has to admit: she is a mental midget.

I agree that her swing used to be the best looking around, but even at the height of her abilities she never came close to dominating anything, except headlines maybe.

Not to pick on you specifically but forget Rickie, Michelle is the most overrated golfer since the dawn of time. I could swear that in ten years from now people will be like "Once Michelle turns 40 and finally focuses on playing golf, look out LPGA."

I am a fan of Michelle Wie. She has weathered a storm of media and fan criticism, some self-inflicted, with a maturity beyond her years. She’s attractive and has a great attitude.

However, I am not a fan of her golf swing. The title of the article is “Four ways to RIP IT! Michelle’s Wie’s easy steps to driving farther and straighter.”

Well that is just not true. Even the stat in the chart shown on page 72 shows she hit it 275 in 2010 and is now hitting it 257. She gave up 20 yards to hit more fairways?

She states in the interview section that she is older and has had injuries over the years so she is does not have the wiry swing she had when she was younger. I’m not buying. She is 25 and healthy and does not suffer from any flexibility or back problems.

What she suffers from is David Leadpoisoning’s instruction. They purposefully “tighten” and shortned her swing. That was just stupid. She had one, if not, the best swing in women’s golf. She was really, really long before they did that. As she stated, at the Sony, she was third-longest in the field on shot-tracker on one of the holes. Hello. That is 300 yard territory. If she had taken that length to the LPGA, she would have demoralized the field. The reason. She was straighter with that swing too.

Just a shame what some of the swing guru’s do in the name of “getting better”. They should ascribe to the Physicians moto… “Do no harm”.

What makes you believe you know Wie better than she knows herself? I suggest that if she has been quoted as saying that she swings the way she does due to past injury, I would tend to trust that she is telling the truth. This may also mean that you are wrong about her instruction protocol and about her instructor.
It never ceases to amaze me how some people insist that a direct quote from someone is somehow wrong in spite of having absolutely no knowledge of that person.

She is not using her height, flexibility or strength to her advantage in her current swing. Her current swing is more aggressive and more demanding on her body than her previous swing, not less.

In 2011 she was 127th in accuracy and 6th in distance at 268. She is now 145th in accuracy and 29th in distance at 256. So now she is more crooked and shorter too. Does this support her instruction protocol?

I don't claim to know Wei better than herself, but I'm pretty sure there is a better swing in that girl, and I hope she finds it again.

And yet, SHE says she swings the way she does now, due to prior injury. Perhaps that means she may have explored other avenues and found that at this time, this swing is what keeps her on tour? Or is this more about her choice of teachers and your lack of faith in his methods? A method that earned her a recent U.S. Open?
Having said all this, I don't really care much for the look or results of her current swing either. I can only hope that she feels the same.....

You may very well be right that she has something currently bothering her. I just hope it isn't something permanent, because her current form is just not going to get her the results.

I think her form during the US Open was better.

She may be channeling Moe Norman with the wide stance setup. ;-)
