Big Bear California Weekend Vacation

Hey Guys,

 

Went out this past weekend to Big Bear with my girlfriend celebrating our two year anniversary. We took our dog out with us so she could enjoy the lake and the local dog park up there.

 

After a two hour drive through the thickest fog i've ever seen, we got to Big Bear from Orange County. The cabin was awesome and we got it on a good deal. The only problem was the weather was less than perfect and a lot of the lake/marina's were closed down for the season so we couldn't kayak or fish (which we wanted to do badly).

 

Well my girlfriend finds out there's a golf course on the mountain called Bear Mountain Golf Course. So she decides we should go out for 9 (had to rent clubs and everything, ended up being about $150 for the two of us for clubs/beer/cart/9 holes.)

 

I have to say, one of the most scenic rounds i have ever played. We had fog/clouds pouring down off the mountain when we were playing and it added an amazing mystique to it all.

 

Proud/embarrassed to say my girlfriend (has played 9 holes, maybe 4 times ever) outdrove me a few times! Even had a par in the mix. Very happy for her.

 

Ended up being the best weekend I've had in some time. If you guys have the chance to make it up there, rent a cabin and bring your clubs. Really awesome experience.

 

TL;DR: Played a beautiful 9 holes with my girlfriend, would recommend it to anyone who visits Big Bear Lake, CA.

this is great. I love going to Big Bear. That 9 hole course is a beautiful walk and crazy to see in the winter covered in snow.

yeah gotta love Big Bear. Awesome little mountain town. The course was actually really awesome even though the greens were basically 100% sand. I'm sure it would be better if we went later in the season. We had some snow when coming up the mountain but none on the ground once we arrived. The fog coming off the mountain was beautiful though. Can't wait to go back.

That is a pretty cool 9 hole track. Played it twice lat time I was up there. Used golfnow and got a killer deal. Guy in the pro shop gave me major attitude because of it. Only time that has ever happened.
