Who's your announcer that you can't stand

The only reason I started this is as I'm watching golf each night there is one guy who makes me seriously consider giving up watching. We all have that guy, whether it's chamblee, miller, Faldo, Lerner, etc. the one guy who makes my ears hurt is Gary McCord. Not only does he never shut up, his unfunny rambling comments is enough to make me almost be willing to accept berman as replacement. How many "I have a good feeling he's going to make this putt" comments from 20 feet does he have to get wrong before someone tells him enough is enough.

 

Anyone actually enjoy McCord? Anyone else agree that he's the worst. I hope he reads this and takes to heart the less is more when it comes to his announcing

It's funny, before I clicked on this post I was thinking McCord. His shtick has become Thin Gruel. Phones it in half the time as, I suspect, he flips through the latest issue of People Magazine. I also suspect Happy Pills in his lunch box......

Faldo isn't very good. I don't even mind that his jokes are terrible. It's painful to listen to, but at least he tries to have some fun. What bothers me is that he doesn't seem to understand the modern game. He seems surprised when someone hits short game shots that he never hit. A low one hop and stop is pretty common, but he's expecting them to hit a low chip w a 7 iron. And it's not just short game, it's everything.
Reminds me of watching golf with someone who just started playing. They are in awe of some of the basic shots.

Miller is miller. He's consistent, so at least you know what you're getting.

McCord would be much better if he would just tone it down slightly. Same w feherty.

Would love to watch golf w just frank Nobilo and Ian baker finch. No issues w either of them. They know how to be critical without being offensive and have a very good understanding of today's game.

McCord! He ceased being funny about 10 years ago, now he just rambles, about what no body knows.

Before McCord for me it was the now deceased Ken Venturi, he was really stuck in the past.

Miller has improved, he doesn't dog the players like he used to. However, his "what he was thinking was" is getting annoying, he doesn't know what the player was thinking.

there seems to be a problem with some announcers who USED to be good players many many years ago and others who weren't even that good before...

almost all of them cannot grasp the idea of the modern game as they never were part of it or they can't do what is being done by all the younger players nowadays...

they try to do their best to get into the minds of the players but when that doesn't seem to work they just continue talking...and talking...and talking..

...i do enjoy it when they start talking about the history of this and that---as long as it's within limits and relevant to what is going on..

McCord is not as funny as he thinks he is, Miller was not as good as he remembers.

Faldo used to bother me, but he has added some much needed levity. It's cheesy, but whatever. I like him more in the early round coverage on GC than with Nance.

Nance is the best, nothing better than a "golf nap" on the couch with the masters in the background.

I can suffer through most of them but Judy Rankin she makes the LPGA un watchable for me.

Nantz gives me the creeps when the camera is on him. I keep expecting Chris Hansen to show up.

Miller. Well he's just Johnny arrogant often wrong but oddly entertaining

I don't know the names, but the Euro Tour announcers are really bland. Half the time they don't say anything, and all you hear are squawking birds. I know I miss Dorothy Pepper, I think one of the best golf announcers ever.

Mark Roe. A former bad tempered clown who has taken on a new persona, appears to have put a speech coach on the pay role and found some gravitas from somewhere. This bloke grates on me constantly.

I'm in the minority and actually like Johnny Miller but it's hard for me to separate McCord and Faldo, probably McCord by a whisker.

Add me to the Mark Roe list. But the person who really grinds my gears is the rules consultant they use on The Open coverage. I don't know his name but some of you know who i mean - he has the most smug condescending voice i've ever heard. You can just tell he's a man who studies rule books for a living.

being a steeler fan, I used to dislike bob trumpy, who played for the bengals and didn't hide his disdain for the black and gold. and nbc always insisted putting him and don criqui on most steeler broadcasts back in the day. criqui still broadcasts notre dame football on the radio but thankfully i've haven't seen or heard trumpy for many years, and hopefully never again.

sorry not really golf-related but honestly there really isn't anyone in the sport i can't stand...

I hate all announcers. They're all lousy and should be taken out back and beaten.

Who's next? Who else should we hate? How about cameramen? I hate TV cameramen. They're all terrible. I hate the sound guys, too. You know, the guys with the furry things who run along with the cameramen. Why do they have to be wearing those slly headphones? I hate that.

And David Duval. For some reason I can't get behind this guy. I always get the impression he is very uncomfortable up there.
