pretty much sums it up...but I'll throw my vote for McCord...he's freaking insane and tries way too hard to be something he isn't...funny.

I loathe Gary McCord. But I must give credit when due. When he JUST describes the situation he is not bad, in fact, good. He was like that yesterday from what I heard.

It is when he starts getting the weird shtick going that he makes me want to blow chunks.

The guy must be on happy pills, and sometimes takes a few too many or something.

I was going to wait until Joe Buck ruined he US Open to post but Johnny Miller ruins just about every telecast I watch.

You'd think he shot -18 every round he ever played and won 45 majors with his criticism.

Lanny Wadkins has the most annoying voice on TV. I wish I was deaf when hes on TV.

The other clowns are Ian Baker Finch and Nick Faldo with their annoying accents.

Finally Johnny Miller always mister Negative.

I like Nantz cuz its simple, and he doesn't waste precious air.

In Baseball, the best ever is Dan Shulman. Actually hes the best at whichever sport he works.

The guy who does the commentary and the producer for the "international feed" on the Golf Channel.
It works like this: whenever there is a commercial break in the US coverage, we get the "International feed" in the meantime. They usually show some of the more notable international players on their finishing holes or some sort of highlights and low points of their rounds. They do that pretty well, but there are two problems:
a) The commentator has a very hard time pronouncing Spanish or French or Italian or Scandinavian or German or Thai or Indian names even remotely correctly. When Gonzalo Fernandez-Castano started to play in the US and Kiradech Aphibarnrat first came onto the scene, his commentary became downright comical. This is even multiplied by the fact that most of his commentary consists of repeating the name of the player dozens of times like "And now Lahiri working the 16th, Lahiri at 2 under par and Lahiri trying to get ot 3 under par, we see Lahiri missed the green just short right and Lahiri is now chipping to get it close, but Lahiri settles for par here." BTW I don't think they ever "settle for par" (something this guy uses a lot, even when somebody has just missed a 2-footer for birdie), if anything, they "have to settle" for par.
b) The producer of this international feed seems to be convinced that the international audience is especially interested in the fates of Pat Perez, William McGirt and George McNeill (maybe he thinks they are "internationals" because of their names, who knows?) But it is a fact that as long as those three are in the tournament, we get to see a lot of them, just as much as Charl Schwartzel or Ernie Els or Paul Casey or Martin Kaymer, if they are not really in contention.

Other than that:
Anybody who is too lazy to pronounce a "th" and therefore uses "sixteen tee" or "eleven green".
Gary Murphy on European Tour coverage, who is also lazy and always says "He has 145 front 152 hole"
Anybody who uses "No kidding" as an affirmative response to something somebody else pointed out, instead of "You are correct" or "You are right" or simply "Yes" or "That's true". This takes care of Jim Nantz, David Feherty and Gary McCord alike.

Old man has shaken fist at cloud. Enough said, rant over.

I see a gap. There definitely is a gap.

I actually like Feherty. He cracks me up. Part of it is that 1/2 the time I find him genuinely amusing and the other 1/2 is so corny you shake your head but can't stop listening.

McCord - I do not mind him. He rambles but then I think of it as a grandfather who decides he has earned the right to ramble. He amuses me to a point.

Miller - I enjoy him because he is at least authoritative with his opinions. I may or may not agree with them but he is there to give them and since he shot 63 at Oakmont, let him give them.

Faldo - I just wish he would go away. He annoys me. Even yesterday, while he and Nantz were interviewing Jack, Faldo was looking uneasy like he was trying to think of something to sound relevant as he kept eyeing Jack up and down from his chair (that in itself was amusing).

I live in France now and they have Thomas Levet and some other guy on there and they are truly horrible. Even when Levet is not at the mic, the other guys are just awful. They babble about unrelated stuff too often while someone is hitting a shot and hence cannot tell us what is going on, or they do not know who is even hitting the shot so say one name when it is someone else. I do understand French enough to listen but I usually mute it. They generally have the U.S. feed when I am watching PGA Tour events so I still get the on screen graphics. Levet amazes me at how he says things that are just wrong (direction of break, for example). The worst is that these commentators seem to be competing to say more than the other guy (worst offender - Levet) and they are often both talking at the same time or always trying to interrupt the other.

Johnny Miller!!!!! Every putt he sees he says is an easy putt even from 20 to 25 feet. When it's missed he says he can't believe that easy putt was missed. Really!!!
[/quote]

Not quite. I remember him saying:
"This is an easy putt. I mean, it's not easy to make, but it isn't difficult."
I scratched my head quite a bit over that one, but I still like Miller.

I see a gap. There definitely is a gap.

I went thru periods of disliking Miller and now I appreciate all the oddball stuff he comes up with. Definitely calls it after the fact. Many people dislike Faldo and his English ramblings but I really like where he's coming from too. The McCord-Ferehty train can seem a bit like stream of consciousness but again, I'll take interesting over stiff and boring anyday.

Brandel Chamblee, Damon Hack (not an announcer) and the entire Fox golf coverage team. Instant mute on.

I don't want to hear Damon Hack's opinion on anything. I hate to draw conclusions but it's almost as if he picked up the game of golf AFTER he got hired by GC

I'll flip the script a bit. I ENJOY/ED listening to Notah Begay, David Feherty, and David Duval (because he actually had the game to back his assertions up).

Feherty is enjoyable to me. Maybe it's a relic of my younger days playing the TW golf games, who knows though...I could see why people don't like him.

Side point, about three weeks ago GC lost the commentator feed for one segment and it was just sounds from the course. That was VERY enjoyable just watching and listening to golf shots. Maybe in the future we will be able to choose our audio feeds.
