These greens look impossible to read

They keep saying that they look like British Open greens but most of the Open courses would need a drought to be that brown. It's only the likes of Royal Liverpool in a heatwave that get that brown, you won't see St. Andrews looking that brown and spotty anyway.

Muirfield was pretty brown when Mickelson won around there a couple of years ago, and so was Turnberry in '77. Most Links courses can still get pretty brown and parched due to grasses that proliferate. That's just how they go in most Summers unless irrigation is used to artificially change that facet. Some Courses will use irrigation as you infer, but most won't, as it's really not needed. It just so happens that our Summers are generally cr**, so they seem to stay greener more often than not. But if the weather was better over here, then they would go equally as parched as Chambers Bay at this time.

The biggest differences for me between a traditional Links and Chambers Bay is the elevation changes (Gullane except), and the width of the fairways (St Andrews except). And those two things are pretty severe in reality, when comparisons are made. Mind you, I've never played Chambers Bay so............

Also, it was pretty unique seeing the train go by while the players are hitting right next to the tracks. It's not often you could tell your friends that you put one off a train car while playing 18!
