Obviously one of two scenarios transpired: Either the group got into position, or the USGA stopped paying attention to lesser golfers and did not discipline them like they would a name player. Like Cantlay.

It was the 2nd to last group that was out of position yesterday, so I don't really understand your response. It appears the USGA does not want to penalize certain players, especially those in the final few groups. The rules are not being applied equally.

Nice try.......you do realize that a penalty hasn't been issued on the Tour in years?

Yes and that's the problem. Rules are rules. If you can lose because the TV says you grounded your club in a fake bunker you should lose for playing slow as well.

Even though the Open is not a PGA Tour event, Guan Tianlang received a one-stroke penalty in the 2013 Masters... yet, as I recall, Tiger never has and even should have in that same tournament......

You really hate Spieth don't you? After others have mentioned it I've started to watch and you never miss a chance to take a veiled or unveiled shot at him. I guess you didn't see him waiting on several tee boxes or while he was in the fairway waiting to hit.

All I know is they were more than 1 hole behind on #4. I didn't write the rules!

Does the prize money count? Aren't there Fedex cup points available? It might be "put on" by the USGA but it counts.....and you guys are seriously being critical over the pace? What is wrong with you?

So you admit that you don't know their position later in the round but you want a penalty based on where they were on #4. Makes sense.

They don't want to penalize for slow play. Honestly they don't want to.

But the bigger issue was they likely saw the distances to walk or the issues with the course slowing things.

there was a group on the clock yesterday, but there was never anything mentioned about it after the 4th hole. Did they get back into position?

BTW...can you provide any proof points to support your "claim?"

Go watch the broadcast. They were warned on #4

As you pointed out in an earlier post, you don't know much at all. Being put on the clock does not equal a penalty, if you get back in position.

You might want to read up a bit on the rules of golf.

Read my OP, I am asking if they ever did.

They went around in 4 hours. You want them penalized?
[/quote]

Does not matter if you are out of position. Please consult the rules.

More PLHR gold!!

I am sure two time Major champion twenty one year old Jordan Spieth (TTMCTOYOJS) took the comments on board and given no penalty was issued they caught up to the satisfaction of the officials. Fortunately for TTMCTOYOJS he is of strong mind and body and was able to put aside this distraction, increase his speed of play, and go on to win his second major of 2015 at only 21 years of age.

He has come a long way in such a short space of time, yet his maturity to deal with adversity such as slow play warnings, fescue as well as the pressure of being a Masters champion is commendable. Well done to TTMCTOYOJS.

I believe they sped up a bit and the group ahead slowed a little thus letting them get back into position

The groups were spaced out a lot anyway. Tee times were 12 minutes apart, I stood on the first tee a long time and the groups weren't teeing off until the previous group was just about on the green. They could have had 11 minute or even 10 minute gaps easily. It's crazy to me why the last group doesn't tee of until 3 anyway.
