BST deals gone...... awesome.

dwb7272 and I made a transaction recently and it went off without a hitch... I mean, what else would you expect from a guy with 270+ feedback??

Well, I got some s55's from him with Steelfiber shafts since I tried to get a set of steelfibers on my own and, well, let's just say that deal didn't go through as planned.... but I digress.....

I was in the midst of a tournament with the s55's... I had about 3-4 rounds on them, no range time and according to my records I only hit my 9i a handful of times.... well, I was waiting for the group in front of me to hit, I took a few practice swings and when I went to lean on my club the shaft simply disintegrated ... I didn't fall or even trip... so it was not like I put a lot of pressure on the club.

I PM'd dwb7272 and explained to him what happened and to not bore you with the actual exchange of PM's I will paraphrase

me: my 9i broke at the hosel

dave: I will do whatever you want to make it right

me: how about just pay for the shaft and I will pay for the labor

dave: how about you find the shaft, I will reimburse you, have it shipped to me, you ship me the head and I will do the work

me: wow. thanks. done.

My tournament was last monday. I shipped the head on Tuesday. I found a single shaft Tuesday night which he promptly reimbursed me for...and was delivered to him on Thursday. And had my 9i back to me the following Monday morning.

Dave is a great guy to work with and I just wanted to give him a shout out. I know we see a lot of bad thread in the DoND and I also know that the good transactions severely outnumber the bad ones but we rarely hear about the good....

Thanks again, Dave.

That's really outstanding that dwb7272 did that. I can't say I'd have done the same knowing how it broke. To trust someone on how heavily they leaned on a shaft that broke is a tough one. Above & beyond by Dave. Hope Karma gets back to him

seriosuly? Do you know how much weight you need to put on a club for it to break? But thanks for the memo... will help me in my future purchases, or lack thereof

[/quote]you had them for 3-4 rounds, and nothing happened and then randomly when you leaned on it it broke? seems extremely fishy. breaking an iron shaft isn't that hard, Rory has shown its pretty easy a few times. I wouldn't give you a refund or anything either. would be different if it happened on first round but this is on you in my book.

Such a refreshing change of pace to hear a positive BST story.

I'm glad it worked out - the seller sounds like a man of integrity.

Can't even have a positive BST thread without someone coming in to wiz on someone else's bowl of Cheerios. :russian_roulette:

The seller went out of his way to help a fellow WRX'er out. You make it clear that you would not have. Completely irrelevant, but an illuminating view into your character. Cheers for that.

game them for a month?? I hit the club a handful of times... If I had them for 30+ rounds with a ton of range time then I wouldn't have said anything. But it's ok... we run the risk of buying used on here and by the looks of the clubs they were not professionally installed... he even said the ferrules looked as if they needed to be tuned... so maybe the guy he bought them from put them together wrong, twisted them... who knows, maybe they got kicked in the shipping process or even in and out of my car... the fact is that he made it right and didn't have to. The variables are endless. And that is why I offered to split the cost right off the bat.

Point of this is that he took a chance on me telling him the truth... and maybe if I didn't have the feedback I do he would have told me to pound sand. There are plenty of variables. I've had guys on here send me clubs that were in no way representative of what they showed on BST... I have contacted them and they tell me to pound sand... fine... I block them and go about my day.

Thanks for your opinion though...

I know that the number of positive feedbacks is a good indication in and of itself but for those special sellers who really go above and beyond it would be nice if this site offered a 'BST Hall of Fame' recognition/award. With a special badge that signifies that the seller is someone who can, without any hesitation, be fully trusted. It would have to be something really special to keep its meaning and integrity - like minimum of 200 feedback and 10 nominations for Hall of Fame status. (added to feedback portion - a simple click to nominate as a part of the process that becomes available once the person reaches 200 + feedback)

The purpose would not be to prevent others (like myself) from selling, but it would reward those who have really worked hard to offer great deals and have shown honesty and integrity in all of their transactions.

In any case thanks for sharing Joey. Enjoy the new sticks!

If I had it the club 40-50 times, or had range time on a mat I would not have thought twice about it and he never would have heard from me. If I were to take pictures of the hosel/ferrules you'd see these weren't done by a professional... and I am ok with that, but some people don't realize that you cannot twist a head like you can do with a steel shaft. I am going to have them professionally pulled and reinstalled since these will be in my bag for a long time to come. If we find the other shafts are compromised I will just replace them myself.

Just an FYI, if by some crazy circumstance it happens again, just contact Aerotech and they will overnight you a new one. I bought a set of J40's, which I still play, with Steelfibers in them, which I no longer play, from BirdieKing99 here 3 years ago. The first time I played a round with them was on a golf trip to Florida, same exact thing happened to me. I was waiting to hit on a par three and was just standing with my 8 iron when the head just fell off. Called Aerotech and they overnighted a new shaft to me the next day.

THEN, after I was done with them Steelfiber experiment I sold them to JD8802 and he had the same thing happen to him. I gave him the Aerotech phone number, he called them, and they shipped him a shaft.

Can't beat that kind of customer service.

EDIT: Aerotech did all of this at a total cost of $0 to everyone involved.

You are aware that you're questioning a guy with 6 times the feedback you have, is active regularly on the boards, plays golf with multiple guys he met on WRX, and has on multiple occasions been the subject of or mentioned in threads about how great a member he is...right? It doesn't always look good to make statements without examining the entire body of work.
Maybe do a little homework next time.
