I find it hilarious that the majority of the complainers of Chambers Bay are from the east coast. Get over yourselves! There is a whole lot more to the U.S. than your little slice of paradise. Lol. I've never been to the New England area so I have nothing to go on there.

I've been to NYC and Jersey and all the way down the coast. You can have it but I certainly won't call it childish names. It would surely be easy to but I'll pass.
LOL, when was the last time you saw s*** greens like CB on the east coast for a big tourney? Actually, any coast, any continent for that matter. CB was the worst of the worst which is why people were complaining.

You shouldn't take it personally b/c you're from WA. There's other nice courses in your area, unfortunately CB is not up to par for major tournaments.
Quail Hollow was awful a couple of years ago. I would consider that a pretty big tourney on tour.

One thing that is for sure is that the fescue greens will not change.
Other adjustments will be made but not the type of grass on the greens or fairways.
The changes that will be made are in the spectator dept. They know who pays the freight. The fans.
Record merchandise revenue and TV ratings speak loudly for bringing it back as soon as possible.
Deal with it! The course is incredible and the USGA knows it. Maybe it didn't come off as incredible on TV to some people. If that's what you're basing you opinion and hate on, then there's little hope to argue otherwise.

Lol list the last time the men's US Open didn't bring in the cash of have people watching. If anything people turned in for the same reason they can't look away from a car accident. The word spears quickly about how subpar the course was so they tuned in to see if it was true.

Incredible? Put down the pipe.

I've played Chambers. How about you? Now who needs to put down the pipe?

I'm sure part of the reason the greens were poor is the traffic at the place, 38k rounds a year at that price point is very surprising. Maybe they will try a more typical links green mix with a large proportion of colonial bent in with the fescue
Chambers Bay averages over a 100 rounds a DAY? With their weather? That's hard to believe.

in addition to the weather how about the price? and how about that it is a walking only course.....lots of people would have trouble walking that track..they said it is like an 8 mile walk....up and down. a good chunk of american golfers have a problem walking from their car to the club house

i thought the track came off on TV as though it is a golf course made out of a gravel pit.....oh wait...i bet some of the far away scenery is prerty majestic tho

my take is that it was the way the tourney ended w. spieth and dj and not the track that made the event compelling. i think it was a head scratcher of a decision to have the open there and makes me wonder about what kind of palm greasing was going on. i dont think it should ever come back,,...it would take a small fortune to make it us open worthy and would still be a novelty course, and i think the us open should look like a u s course and not a british open course

A course with backstops and funnels everywhere that reward poor shots. One with very poor spectator areas. Not to mention the awful greens, even if they replace them in 2018 by 2025 the poanna will be back.

Go somewhere else.

Not a $300+ Goat Track

But hey, pay off the USGA and your local muni dump can host a US Open
What do you mean? They're replacing them with 100% poa annua.

So you're saying links style or influenced golf courses aren't US courses or represent the US? 3 of the Top 10 and 6 of the Top 20 best courses in America are links based courses with roughly 25 of the 100 best in the US are links or links style.

Oh never mind.

I just think it is an inherently good, strategic and interesting collection of golf holes that has one or two stupid green to tee transitions on it (3green-4tee seemed really bad)and was hampered by the poor condition of the greens. The US Open has had bad greens many times before and will have them again, it doesn't help that in todays world any moron can broadcast their thoughts to hundreds of thousands. It is most likely very playable for your normal player from 6200-6600 and with 3mm ish extra on the hoc of the fairways and the greens rolling at 9-9.5. I really don't get when people are going on about it being too hard, the fairways are massively wide and the greens are huge and you can get a putter on it most of the time.

That is a completely unrelated point. Just because the R&A choose to have their championship on a certain set of courses doesn't mean the USGA should feel restricted in their spectrum to choose from.
