Both of CBECH's WITB after GolfWRX Addiction

Recommended Posts

Hey everyone! I just wanted to share both of the sets that I like to bag during the summer months in MN.

GolfWRX is an addiction. Golf is an addiction. GolfWRX can really change a person... When I first started using this site I had the same set of clubs for 10 years. They were Square-Two's. After joining this site, I was addicted and moved on to new things. Here is my new bag for 2016 that I cannot wait to use.

Nike Covert Driver 2.0 at 10* of loft

Wilson FG Tour M3 3 Wood 15* of loft

Wilson FG Tour M3 Hybrid 21* of loft or Rocketballz 3 Iron 17.5* (Windy conditions I bag the 3 iron to keep it low and I use it as a driving iron)

Wilson FG Tour M3 Irons 4-PW, GW

Nike SV+ Wedge 56*

Ben Hogan Riviera 60*

PING Karsten Anser Putter 34"

(Sorry the Pics are sideways)

The second set I have to show you all is a little throw back that I got for a good deal on Ebay. I know its just a cheap set from back in the day but these clubs are super fun to hit and give me a challenge anytime I want to switch it up at my home course. This is a Ram Star Flite by Bob Rosburg set that includes:

1, 3, 4, and 5 wood

2-PW irons

Putter

The seller of these clubs also sent me a driving iron to go along with this set and I bag a 60 degree warrior custom golf wedge.

Now I know this is more than 14 clubs so what I bag when I hit the course includes the 1, 3, 4, & 5 woods, 4-PW, driving iron, 60 degree, and putter. I love to play these clubs and love to see how well I can hit them like back in the day.

We have a whole bunch of us over on the Classic Golf and Golfers forum here on WRX that buy sell and trade classic clubs. Come on over there you will be more than welcome. Nothing at all wrong with the Square 2 clubs. Personally I have never played them but we sold quite a few when we ran the golf shop. They have somewhat of a small following in this area. Overall play what works for you look at my signature I play irons every time that are over 30 years old and that is my front line gamer set. You ought to see what I play when I play pure vintage. When playing pure vintage I play anything from pre WW2 Armours to 1962 vintage Macgregors wedges and putters can really be a mix. On our money games we have a mix of players that play everything from new Miuras to what I play. A guy that plays as my partner a lot plays a real mixed bag every day Ping I-3 irons about 25 years old and a mix of woods with everything from a Laminate Ping 5 wood to a Cally Steelhead 3 wood with a genuine Memphis 10 Steel shaft and to top it all off he putts with an antique Bulls Eye putter I gave him. You have to play what fits you and what you have confidence in and it does not have to be the latest and most expensive thing out there

Driver--- Callaway Big Bertha Alpha--- Speeder 565 R flex

7W --- TM V Steel UST Pro Force 65 R flex

Irons 5 thru 9 1985 Macgregor VIP Hogan Apex #2 shafts

PW-- 1962 Macgregor FC-400 11 iron Pro Pel 2 shaft

SW -- Callaway Mac Daddy 52*

LW Vokey SM5 L Grind 58* 04 bounce Stock Vokey Shaft

Putter -- Ping Zing 2 SS Fluted Bulls Eye shaft

Down to only 11 clubs playing the best since my accident

I did not know about the classic forum here on GolfWRX. I will definitely go check that out and see whats over there becauss i love hitting classic clubs. Gow i got started in this was i played in a night golf tournament and the people who ran the tournament suggested not using your normal drivers because the glow in the dark golfballs will break drivers. So we used my buddies wodoen clubs that his dad had in the garage and i had always wondered after tha what i could actually shoot in a serous round with these clubs. Thanks for your feed back though. I dont know a whole lot about vintage clubs, but i am for sure going to the forum to learn more and see whats oit there. So thatnk you!

Cool WITB!! I like that you have two sets and can play retro clubs when you'd like to
Thank you! When i hut the vintage clubs they are close to two club lengths less then my actual gamer clubs because of the blade style iron and obciously the wooden woods, but that means you just have to play a different style of golf. I normally shoot in the low 40's but the bet i have shotten eith this set is 45. So im still trying to break that, but its so fun to play with.

Nice bags! When I was a teen I worked in the pro shop of a local muni. Our assistant pro had gamed a set of Square-Two "Raves." They weren't a major OEM but they were solid clubs. She was about 21/22 at the time and she had played them since she was in high school. It's not how much you paid for them that matters. It's what you do with them ;-). Thanks for sharing.

I love golf

Driver:  2018 Cally Rogue 10.5* (Set to 12.5*)
There is a wealth of knowledge on that side of the forum. We have some young guys and old farts like me and we even have a lady who happens to be a research whiz on the computer. We also have Mr. Tad Moore and Mr. Charley Penna who in their respective selves are really two great fountains of knowledge in both club design and hands on building. As long as I have been in the game (all my life) and the business on and off I learn something new every time I go on there and I see something I have never seen before. That is really a great crew on there!

Thanks for your comment! Exactly, it is what you do with the clubs and not what clubs they are. But what i love about them are that they are forged. I have never really hit any set of irons besides my buddies cobra amp cell and his rsi 2's, but they honestly, in my opinion dont compare to the forged irons i hit. I know i didnt get a fair judgement because i didnt have time to get used to his clubs and stuff, but i feel like forged clubs feel better off the face. And i dont think that each different brand of forged club can be that much of a different feeling. And even though these clubs are close to 10 years old, i have kept them in great condition. I always find myself wanting to upgrade my irons, but with so much experince with mine, why should i change that? Thanks for your comment though! I appreciate it!

I had a buddy who played Square Two probably 20 years ago and he played them really well but they were heavily vested in the LPGA at the the time and couldn't handle it - haha. They were really good clubs though. Play Well and I really enjoyed your clubs.

I am surprised so many of you have heard about Square Two because i searched the web many times to try and get any information on the company and i couldnt find anything. Do you know what happened to them because i dont think they are around anymore? Thanks for your comment!
