"Cartoon" Headcovers, Cool or lame?

I have one of those gorilla's for a headcover. Cool or lame? I've seen some fun headcovers out there, Quagmire, Star Wars themed, Sports mascots, etc.

 

What about the headcovers that have a sports team logo on them? Standard looking headcover with just the team logo on it.

 

Or just the normal headcovers that come with the driver?

I use a old ping G5 headcover on my G30 driver and I have 2 lynx brand head covers one my g25 3 wood and taylormade v steel 5 wood. I kind of like it when people think you are a hack or a good player by judging what clubs and headcover you have. I have always been the type of person I would rather people look at me and think I am no good and then be suprised when I put a decent round together. If someone looked at my bag and knew what they were looking at they would be able to tell I have some pretty good clubs but if you just glance you will think I am playing some cheap hackasaurus stuff.

My Little Peanut (5 years old) purchased Grover and Monkey headcovers. They will always be a permanent fixture in the rotation. I just purchased him a Superman putter cover. He was ecstatic. Anything to get him interested in the game.

I have heard too many stories of people having clubs stolen because of the head cover (they see a Scotty cover and grab the Scotty putter) so I have generic covers from Back9 for my woods and putter.

My 5-year-old son gave me a Darth Vader head cover for Father's Day last year and it is a permanent fixture on my driver. My wife said it was totally his idea. If he's interested in both Star Wars and Golf that is a WIN WIN in my book!

My mother actually knitted a couple headcovers for my driver and hybrids and gave them to me for my birthday . Very tame with neutral colors with a couple stripes. These will always stay on. She also knitted me a withe one that looks like a rooster because we call my 6 month old son our baby rooster. His hair sticks up in the back no matter what we do. Keeping that one in the bag permanently as well

Awesome. My wife knitted me a putter cover, and it is by far my fave.

I don't NOT like the goofy head covers though I prefer (and have) pom pom head covers. I'm getting a liking to the leather covers as well. I prefer a minimalist and classy look.

I have a Hulk one. My niece bought it for me. I prefer sleek headcovers, but I appreciate the thought that went into it.

Sunfish custom clown leather cover shows they are open to terrifying golfers; with your guidance maybe they can create the truly horrifying art you crave, though you might have to sign a waiver not to let your bag within 100 feet of First Tee kids.

I dont like cartoon, sports, or OEM headcovers. My favorite are knit wool pom style (Ju Ju) or the leather covers I've seen some places doing. If I had to pick one of the above I'd stick with OEM as I don't get the appeal of the other, just not my thing at all.

But, use what makes you happy, plenty of tour players seem to like rediculous looking (in my opinion) headcovers so you'd be in good company.

I like seeing covers other than the standard stuff. Like others have said, it is your money. I like some personality in the bag.

My wife picked me up a Big Al cover for my 3 wood when I was accepted to Grad School at Alabama this year. It doesn't fit very well on the driver. I use an old Rocket Tour Pom on my other fairway wood. I have used a Daphne's monkey and a blue Grateful Dead bear in the past as well.

I have a big dragon one, a big iron man one and a kiwi bird one. So yeah I'm all for the interesting headcover but I feel like they have to be different and somewhat unique. But I do love some of the knitted ones I see going around. Might grab a knitted one for my hybrid.

Before that I had the Sergio Bull. My bag is plain black. I've never gone for the cover that comes with the club.

These are the "characters" in my bag, Gossimer from Looney Tunes and Beaker. Oh, and for those about to ask about my putter cover, 9 times out of 10 most get way more curious about that than my cartoon head covers....why yes, it's a real shoe, Air Jordan toddler size 5.5.

i was actually thinking about this the other day. i have a 3 month old daughter and i'm hoping she will be into golf. i was hoping whatever cartoons she is into at that age have head covers because it might make her a little more interested. btw now that i'm a dad i really could care less what people think lol i'm a decent player and not trying to impress anyone
