P.S. looks like all the haters ran away?
Am I to understand that you either fall in the "hater" or lover camp? Nothing in between?
Somewhere in between, but I am a fan of the golfing Tiger. Just funny that they were all on here saying he's done and should retire only a couple pages ago and now that he is 6 under since the 5th hole it's crickets. Just funny.

"He's back!" could also apply to Els, Goosen, Leonard... gotta love the late 90s, early 2000s leaderboard... let's see how long this lasts.

Even when he was +3 I was going to post that his swing was looking good and that he would come around soon...then he went -6 on the rest of the round...

Tiger has widened his stance back up from when it shrank under Stack and Fold Foley. He's looking much better out there...coming to a leaderboard near you.

I don't see how you all play in humidity. It's looks just awful out there.
Humidity isn't bad unless it's coupled with heat. I rather like it usually. I'm 62, and my brother ( 67) and I played yesterday (9 holes walking) in the evening. It was 85, the sun was setting so it wasn't beating straight down. When you are old it helps you get loose. Same this evening. Rather nice, all in all. I suck at this game, BTW, but I did sink a 45 footer on #9 to win the beer. Life is good.

Now back to your regular programming.

FORE RIGHT!!!!

They sure turned back the hands of time in the first round, huh? Goosen, Leonard and Els? I hope Retief and Ernie can hang in there until Sunday afternoon.

Nice mixture on the leaderboard, with kids like Ishikawa, Chappell, Sullivan, Rodgers, Thomas and Schniederjans off to flying starts.

Looks like the weather is going to be great over the weekend. It's going to be a great tournament.

GO RICKIE! :)

First four holes for TW today were again having me head shaking and chuckling. Deep rough off tees, can't hit a green from the middle of fairway, duffed chip again. LOL. +3 and I just ended up pausing it and going out to hit some balls myself and run errands. Expecting another missed cut or something I didn't even have intention of watching rest of round, but nothing else on once kid went to sleep I put it on to watch the train wreck. To my surprise TW actually looked to have some swagger and either a little confidence back, OR at this point just don't care free rolling. Either way, nice -6 rest of round. Dropped some nice putts, GIR from fairway bunker, nice green-side bunker shots, and some long drives.

We will never know what is going through his head as of late or the spaghetti of swing thoughts, but honestly despite the -6 rest of way, he still looks lost to me. Granted he figured out his way to adjust finally and work with it today better than I've seen since being with Como, I just feel today was one of those "up ticks" we get with him once in while now. We will see tomorrow and rest of way, hopefully I am wrong and he finally is turning a real corner with his swing going into PGA next.

Example of what I am talking about;

-12th today the camera angle was perfectly behind him for analysis of his driver tee shot. He lined up for what I thought would be a draw judging where he looked aimed and the fact it was dogleg left. But he RIPS driver and hits a major pull-cut. He hit fairway and was one of his longest of day, but I just don't get wtf he is doing. I rewound it several times and it was pulled badly but thankfully cut as planned. I just for life of me can't imagine he planned it that way to start that far left of his alignment. Surely he was trying to hit a cut though (don't know why he would do a draw). Many times you see him pull it this bad and it doesn't cut back, those are usually in deep trouble. Even announcers said it was flirting with left side down there and he just hit fairway by a few yards. But nontheless it was impressive speed from the old man..

-13th. Now after a great, long FIR pull cut tee shot he did on last hole, he comes to a hole I thought for SURE fit that shape and would do it again. Fairway bunker on right side and open space on left to aim for incase it doesn't cut as expected. Instead he tries to hit a draw. ???? And it doesn't come back and ends up on that fairway bunker. Out of that bunker he lines up way left of flag yet hits a push to a GIR.

-14th. This time I am not sure what he was planning or what didn't work, but he hit it way left into rough. Maybe he tried to go back to the Pull-cut he did on 12 and realized he should have done last hole so "let's go back to that" and it just didn't cut? That is what it appeared like on TV judging by initial ball direction.

It almost appears to me he is not lost in swing mechanics but rather his alignment in addition to trying to figure out where the ball is going to go based on his swing. He seems lost in where to aim because he is not sure where his new swing will take the ball. He seemed to have figured it out for rest of round with his irons after first four holes, but tee shots he looks like he doesn't even want to do them but has to get it over with.

tiger has always hit a cut with his driver by setting up with a closed stance

Probably to delay lower body and reduce chance of an over cut

ALWAYS?

Maybe if by "always" you mean since late 2010 when he started working with Foley? Because I don't EVER remember him setting up right to hit a pull cut with his driver under Butch or Hank.

I still think he hasn't got much control of his swing. So many really bad shots in his round today but it is a start.

No

I watched tiger ALOT more 99-2008

Definitely something he did in Haney days

It's actually quite clear to see if you look

I have a book from 97 stating how tiger set up with closed feet like hogan and how this was a power secret

Not sure if the author realised that was tigers cut method

I have also heard butch mention it on broadcast
