A buddy of mine has invited me on a trip first week of September. His wife and him were planning a vacation but some plans changed and she won't be going along so we are looking to get a round or 2 in. We would like to get a couple rounds in but don't really want to spend for than $200-$300. What are some good tracks that won't exactly break the budget?

You could put it in the 'Northwest Section' under Subform: Courses by Region. Hope that helps.

Portland Area: Langdon Farms, Pumpkin Ridge, The Reserve North or South, Stone Creek, Heron Lakes Blue are the ones I would recommend

If you're in the Portland area and price is a big factor I'd look at Heron Lakes specifically the Great Blue course and their rates are very reasonable generally around $40. OGA in Woodburn is a decent course for around the same price. The Reserve is probably the next step up, generally around $65-70 and they are fun tracks in excellent condition. Then Langdon Farms and Pumpkin Ridge are the next step up but will generally run you $95-120

In the Seattle area, Oki golf has 9 public courses and a really good discount card program, http://www.okigolf.com/Courses/Pages/Home.aspx I like Newcastle (2 courses) and Washington National the best. Gold Mountain (2 courses), Salish Cliffs are also good and well reviewed courses. Chambers Bay where they played the US Open is in the Tacoma area but is outside your budget by a few dollars. Their off-season rates are a little easier to take than their peak season rates.

Washington National is quite fun to play, but I may be a bit biased... GO HUSKIES!!! It's also a stunning course with a beautiful practice area.

Newcastle is good, but just for the views on a clear day. It's also way outside of your price range unless you play in the afternoon on China Creek.

Druids Glenn is a blast to play (or at least it was when I was there).

Langdon Farm is the best course for the money, especially for a one time round. It's typically around $50-$60 on weekends and less during the week.

We also just thought about doing a trackman fitting session while we are in the area since there aren't any around where we live. Does anyone know of any options in Portland or Seattle and prices?

You could set up an appointment at Redtail for a trackman fitting.

Are you going to be in Portland or Seattle? You interchange those like they are :30 apart instead of 3 hours. If Seattle, you should look into The Home Course. Excellent track and it will not break the bank.

I'm interchanging them because we will be in Portland for 4 days and seattle for 3.

Gotcha. If you were going to play Chamber's and wanted to play 36 in a day, then go to The Home Course. Afternoon rates in September are around $40 I believe.

I got fit at Vons Golf. It's down by the UW. He's a smaller outfit, but he knows his stuff. Miura dealer as well if you're into that kind of thing. He has a trackman hooked up in the backyard. The downside is that it's in a backyard hitting into a net. The plus side is that he has great stories about some pros and understands what he's doing.

As of now the plan is to play the Reserve South on Tuesday, Langdon Farms on Wednesday, then head to Mt Rainier and camp before heading to Seattle Thursday. Washington National Friday then Dave Matthews at the gorge Saturday. Looking forward to it as I have never been to the Pacific NW.

I just played the South Course at the Reserve last weekend. It was in great shape overall. There are a crazy amount of bunkers on the course. My suggestion would be to avoid hitting into them as they varying in degrees of compactness.

That's an outstanding itinerary for your first trip to the PNW.

Just played Langdon today and the greens are in spectacular shape. You'll have a great time there. Reserve South is a good track this time of year too.

And the Gorge is one of the most awesome concert venues in the world. Enjoy!

Sounds like a great lineup! Too bad we have all these fires going. You can't see a darn thing. I was up at Rainier on Saturday. The visibility was horrible.
