If the guy's paypal was indeed hacked, paypal will refund him any money lost and he will (should) not be held liable for any illegitimate transactions. Obv you guys should not under any circumstance withdraw your PP claim regardless of whatever sob story the guy gives you.

I think there might be some hackers or scammers targeting the BST here or something. I have noticed a few old WRX accts that were selling stuff a few years back, good feedback, now suddenly show up again and are selling gear but asking for gifted money and being really desperate and what not. Didn't really register it as an issue until I read this thread. Should have written down the user names. I just notice when doing my research on some of the items I was interested in that at least a few of them hadn't sold anything since 2012 or 2013 and now have shown back up. If I remember a name or come across another one I will post it. Strange happenings going on around here.

3. No one gives a person access to PayPal and WRX knowing the possible ramifications of a bad sale

It's a joke and be thankful PayPal had your back.. For the guy who gifted it.. If he asked you to and you did. IMO.. You broke the rules of the BST and took a major risk for no reason. If some one ever complains to me about PayPal fees and doesn't wanna absorb them.. I would send the extra few % and protect myself rather then gift and leave your self up a creek without a paddle

He didnt ask me to and I'd done it in error. It'd been years since I bought anything off BST and forgot which way it worked. All my prevous transactions (buying and selling) always went through promptly without a hitch.

bought my next set a few days later properly.

I filed a claim with PP to change my gift to goods. So far, they've agreed to just reverse it, even as a gift. Maybe because of the other claims going on with the same account.

And he also replied saying he is trying to resolve it with his buddy, and that he would pay it back himself next week. Wont matter if PayPal takes care of it.

I'm sorry, what's a joke? The fact that someone is stealing from people? I've seen people take a conversation outside of WRX. Should I always suspect them, too? And PayPal has my back because I used it properly. Always do. Obviously he got a second chance on this site or he would have been banned. Given his feedback and time on the site, I assumed that WRX was fine with him. Glad for your words of wisdom though.

Alright, I know this won't carry much weight with you guys in here. But I am the owner of the PayPal account in question here. My name is indeed Chris Ferrier. The individual who sold these items is named Dustin Caldwell. I am not here to ask for forgiveness on the monies owed, these will be repaid by me after I recover the money from him.

For those that don't know, here is how the whole thing went down. Dustin (sosinsurr) "sold" items to I believe six individual buyers off of here. He asked if he could have the monies from those accounts sent to my PayPal. I have known him long enough that I felt safe enough to do so. All told, about $1800 came in for these items. I don't know a thing about the whereabouts of these items, if there ever were items, whatever. What's important is that I withdrew these monies to my checking account and wrote him a check, which is attached to this message.
And now I have a negative $1800 balance on MY PayPal that I let this guy use, because you have all rightfully reversed the charges.
So, there's where im at. My email is coachferrier at Hotmail dot com. If you check, that is not the email he contacted you from. In addition, my phone number is three 6 zero 5 six 1 one 3 six 1 and I'm happy to speak to any of the people in this thread. I ask that you not contact my employer,as some of you have implied, as that is wholly unnecessary and quite a bit immature.

He was aware the scam happened on GolfWRX under the name "sosinsurr". Doesn't seem that odd to me that he'd sign up and do a search for "sosinsurr".

I've seen too many scams to give people benefit of the doubt. Have trouble believing someone close enough to you to hand them a paper check could scam you.

But in the end I've got no dog in this fight and all will be made right by PayPal.
