OK, well I've been called "Mr. Angry" a few times myself, but I think my anger was well justified as I can attest to in the following incidents: Incident #1- I'm in the pro shop paying for my tee time, and there's a guy in front of me (also a single) paying for his. He finishes, then I pay as well. As I drive off to the starter, I can see he's there with his kid in the cart (kid was maybe 9 or 10). I then said "hey there, I didn't see that you paid a rider's fee for your son.". This SOB just completely ignored me and drove off like he didn't hear me. I let the marshall know the situation, but he waved it off like it was no big deal. Well to me it is a big deal. If this jerk doesn't pay the rider's fee, it's an integrity violation. Getting no support from the marshall or the starter, I drove back to the pro shop and spoke to the manager. Thankfully he was quick to correct the problem. He called up the marshall on the radio to have the guy come back to the pro shop and pay the rider's fee. Look, I'm not trying to be a jerk, but if I see an injustice I'm going to correct it. Incident #2- I'm playing with this guy who isn't all that good at all. We were matched up at the starter, so this wasn't a competition or anything, but even then he should be following the rules. Clearly he thought "the rules" didn't apply to him. On the second tee, he teed up his ball well forward of the tee markers (at least 3 to 4 inches). I called him on it before he could start his routine and reminded him about the fair rules of play. He tried to make some excuse about he was just out to have fun, wasn't keeping score, blah blah blah. After he hits it (a duck hook that went well left of the fairway) he gives me this irritated look like it's my fault. So I do him the courtesy of driving over to help him find his ball. It's laying on a bare spot and believe it or not this jerk moves his ball over to the grass to hit it. He literally just picked the ball up and dropped it on some grass!!!! At this point I'm starting to lose my mind, so again I reminded him that the rules of play do not allow this and he must play it as it lies. So he comes back to me with some kind of smart allec response. I'd pretty much had enough after that. I drove back to the club house, reported this cheater to the manager, then left the course but not before demanding my money back for a full refund. Incident #3- I'm grouped together with a threesome of older guys. They were all actually pretty good golfers and played by the rules. However I noticed some funny business going on...one of them I could see was switching his ball out at the green. He was using a soft ball to hit off the tee, then was switching it out for a Titleist Pro V on the putting green. So I casually reminded him that the rules of golf prohibit a player from switching his ball in the middle of playing a hole. It simply isn't allowed. You would think he would have thanked me for the reminder, but instead this A-hole and his buddies told me to play through. Again, they mumbled something about not being in a competition and I was too uptight. Well if by "uptight" you mean I actually follow the rules, then so be it. As these incidents have been made clear, I don't tolerate a cheater. So if that's what you're about you better avoid me on the golf course, because I'll call you on it. Some of us enjoy playing by the rules and prefer not to have our round ruined by dishonest cheats. My two cents. aw
So you quit and demanded a refund because he moved his ball 3 to 4 inches forward of a tee box and dropped his ball in a better lie. Ridiculous.

And how exactly do you cheat when not in a competition? Just think of the mental anguish the "cheater" has to live with now. Horrifying.

I've played with cats like that. They are pretty easy to rile into a breakdown. I unstrapped a guy's clubs on the cart like three times in 9 holes, "accidentally" walked in his line (just a little), hung out with everyone else in the group and ignored him, went into traps and raked over his spot after he already raked it, asked if he wanted the flag tended from 20 feet, walked up to his ball in the fairway like it was mine (after I clearly put it past him) and "mistakenly" noted that I hadn't thought I would hit it by him by so much...all kinds of jerk things to do. Guys who are on the edge and are acting like children don't need to be around me. I keep pushing until they either freak out or quit. There has never been a one who presumed to get aggressive with me. Makes it easier on my game too, because I am distracted with having fun with them instead of worrying about pressure of the match.

I don't care if we are having fun or in a competitive match, if you unstrap my bad from the cart or walk in my line purposefully, you're either going to get your @ss beat or get left. First that is damaging something I spent hard earned money on. Second, that is ruining the game. Someone who is trying to play well, just to f*** with their head because you think it is funny is what high school bullies did. And no one likes a bully.
Hmm?

High school bullies...did? As in...did to you? Are you sure your post is really about me and not some extra "baggage" you are carrying on your "cart?" Because, if it is, I definitely have a way to fix that.

Haha you're really full of yourself. No, I was not bullied. But I take damaging my clubs on the same level as someone keying my car, which isn't funny nor would it be tolerated.

I don't see how the anger is justified in the last 2. The guy not paying for the rider fee.. meh, but probably the most serious of all of them. In all honesty, who cares if other people follow the rules? If they aren't keeping a handicap and you aren't playing for money, who cares?

I actually played with a guy like you before Mr. Uptight Surferaw.

I can still remember it clearly. It was new years day 4-5 years ago. We had a 3-some and a lone fella came out. We decided to be nice and let him join our crew. I bought a bottle of blue label to help with the hangover from a hard night of spelunking in the woods or sorts from the night before. This gentlemen of about late 40 wore a light blue cardigan with matching light blue pants. Didn't think much of it. We were all hungover but we did try our best to play. He insisted on keeping our scores and wanting to know what our scores. It was odd since we had zero money. Half way through the match, my buddy ob, and decided to re-tee on this par3. 3rd shot obviously was pin high and he saved bogey. Mr. Blue cardigan ran out and shouted "what was the score, what was the score because you re-teed". We were so shocked that he just did that in a bullish manner.

I kindly told him it was a bogey and he should mind his own business. He got livid and started throwing a tantrum. He took his bag and walked back to the club house. Never saw him again and thank gawd. He was a 40 plus years old still living with his mom. Everything perfectly manicure. It was kind of creepy.

Horrifying.
I am still trying to figure out if this guy is a comedic genius or the biggest tool of all time. If you said any of those things to me in a casual round I would laugh in your face and probably tell you to just go play ahead by yourself. Granted, I don't do those things, but if I did it would be bc I am practicing and maybe I don't want to work on my dirt/hardpan lie at that moment. Or maybe I would drop a second ball and try to hit a different shot. I wouldn't be making you wait to do this either, I play fast. But oh dear lord I hope this is just a great troll, bc people like you simply cannot exist.

Now, if we are playing in a Men's League tourney then everything changes, and I begin to completely agree with you on the second two statements you made. But you said no money, no tourney, totally casual round. My home course posts the relaxed rules of golf now to speed things up. Are you going to punch my head pro for telling people to "cheat" during their casual rounds?

I have to believe this post is a joke, but I will bite anyway. If a player says he is playing a fun round and not keeping score....he's not a cheat. It's not like he's submitting that score for handicap purposes. As long as he's not slowing you up by hitting multiple practice shots, he has every right to play the game the way he so chooses. He paid to play the course just like you did.

He got to the point where he was dissatisfied with my driving the cart, and started telling how to drive and where to park it. I finally told him to back off and relax, which put an even bigger wedge between us.

Im sorry you didn't enjoy our round, but you drive like old people @#%. I'd appreciate not having my miller lite spilled on EVERY bump you can find on the course, mmm ok? And, yea, would it kill you to park the cart in the freakin shade occasionally?

It amazes me how the some people exaggerate when trying to make a point in their favor. The guy was completely rude, and he knew it too. I have played with a multitude of different people/personalities and I know what is appropriate and what is not. To be on the defensive, or offensive, as you are, it has crossed my mind as to whether that person was you? It was really very inappropriate behavior, just accept it. I get the impression you tend to act the same on the golf course, and that's why you are defending his poor behavior.

Well, maybe don't drag drama from thread to thread?

You came in to this thread following a guy because you didn't like something he posted about "iTeach."

I mean, come on. You wonder why you guys have a bad rep as being tribal and weird?!?

What do Michael Breed, iTeach, Hawkeye77 or TravAz have in common with "Mr. Angry?" Maybe more than we know.

It's okay. You can go to bed. The internet will be here in the morning.

Sounds like you're both children.

Mad Golfer has a strong sense of humour and irony. Children have a sense of fun - irony is actually quite adult.

I don't see much of a problem with blow-ups in people with a good sense of humour. Youtube is full of golfers throwing their clubs into lakes, snapping them over their knees and so forth. A lot of it is quite funny in a wacky way. And golfers with a sense of humour tend to recover from their insanities and see the funny side.

What's a real passion killer is golfers with no sense of humour. I mean, golf is an insane activity in the first place.

I made a simple scoring card mistake. I caught it and did fix it up, and I proved it was right as I compared it to the 3rd golfers redundant scorecard. We started on the 4th hole, shotgun start, and I entered the 7th holes score on the 3rd holes vacant space. This guy stormed out of the cart and said to the 3rd golfer: HEY JOE, WE HAVE TO USE YOUR SCORECARD, THIS GUY F***ED THIS CARD UP!

The guy is a jerk and clearly has issues, but reading this made me laugh out loud.

I have a golfbuddy who cant even hit 200 carry with a driver yet he gets so angry about his game and by the end of front 9 he wont even have a conversation. This sunday, same senario... I got tired of him n started having conversations with other 2 some who were enjoying the game like we all should. At one point I just said eff him, and started making comments at my good shot, like 200yard par3 3foot birdie chance. I mean dont I have right to be happy with my game? Just because you are a sore loser dont ruin my day off. Anyway that will be the last time playing with that loser. I feel bad for him because he doesn't know what he doesn't know yet he has more pride than any living soul. Waste of my time

Once told a player in a tournament, after several meltdowns, "Even if you have no sense at all, at least ACT like you have some, you are embarrassing yourself by your behavior. " This was on sixth hole. Response was a blank, shocked, stare and silence from that point forward. The player decided to No Card/WD after hole nine.

I have had to tell a guy something similar but I did it in my own words. I told him, "You might be playing like sh*t but that doesn't mean you need to let the world know you act like a piece of sh*t too."
It's really a situation of trying not to stir the pot up, but getting your point across distinctly. The event sort of took me by surprise because, generally, I have met up with decent people on tournament occasions. As the OP, I wish I had moved to the other cart, but I just didn't think of it. From this point forward, I will be more aware of my options, because I don't pay tournament fees to be paired up with a angry-rude person. Golfers have the right to demand respect and etiquette from their 4some, and from ALL golfers.
