68 with 6 Birds.......I've been playing better the past month but hadn't been as consistent as one would like.

I fight a poor backswing yet manage to get around the golf course under 80 mostly....last week my scores were 75, 75, 73.....this week I had a 77 but a couple swings cost me dearly....

Almost 50 now and have tried mimicking some the greats with similar builds ;the one being the most effective was Faldo.

Then in that chase for distance, I'll drift away.....well the other day the proverbial light bulb came on ....I grabbed my hardback copy of "A swing for Life" 2012 revised & updated (still have the original from 1994-95) flipped through a few pages and watched YOUTUBE videos all day while at work of the 6-time Major winner .....

Went outside for a few airswings .....felt as comfortable as ever.

As luck would have it, I didn't get much sleep (Firefighter/Paramedic on 24hr shifts) and didn't feel that fresh...I went home ,grabbed and hour of sleep, dropped daughter @ work and without warming up stripped first drive down the pipe! Chipped a 54* to 8ft making the first of 6.....

Statically, the round was pretty normal; 10/14 fairways (actually below avg) 13/18 greens.....but I pretty much hit every shot on the clubface.....only one fat off a hanging lie (bunker save) but overall I was in control of my ball like it was 1998-2003 (my scratch years)

My this round was an aberration, but I feel like it could be the basis for solid play with a great reference point!

Just thought I'd share. ....

Very nice congrats. Damn, 68! Thats awesome.

I am a fan of Faldo and his swing so dont get me wrong but its a little humorous that a book called "a swing for life" needed revised and updated.

Not that much different to the original , physically as a younger man Faldo had the ultimate golfing build so his swing looked better in the original pictures . Not a fan of the black jeans he is wearing in the new pics either . It was and is a great book though.

And that's the beauty.....I've gotten my "leaner" body back sorta.....down over 20 since June ;while not as tall , a similar build to his earlier physique.

Interesting to see how nick references that hip restriction is a debatable topic now rather than advised in the original version

Good for you. I'm glad as a taxpayer I'm making you a better golfer. JUST KIDDING!!! Actually while not a firefighter had a job with a 12 hour shift. 6 pm to 6 am. You need something to do on the down time. I've seen too many average joes think it's wrong for FFs to even go to the supermarket.

Yeah thanks.....that viral video is pretty sad, no? They said sleep deprivation kills more than cancer....I know sometimes it takes me a few days to bounce back from the "up all night" shift....those tones.....ugh

Back to Faldo; his delivery of thoughts and his passion/thirst for ownership of actions make him a very good teacher....not all former pros convey instruction as he does.....

The Winnning Formula book from 1989 was very technical. ...almost too technical for the lay golfer.....

I wish he'd gotten a U.S. Open under his belt as he tactical skill set matches up well for that type of golf.

His tempo is what really matches my game the most .....not too upbeat; just smooth and steady....conservative play mindset!
