One thing Golf WRX has changed your opinion on

What I'm wondering is..... since you've been posting here, what is the one thing you have done a 180 on as far as your opinion to when you first started coming here and reading the forums. For example, I use to sit back and privately (most times) scoff at guys that said they couldn't stand irons with too much offset. I thought they were just trying to make people think they were better players than what they were. To me, they might as well have been saying they thought anyone who played irons with a lot of offset sucked. I have to admit I kind of took offense to some because I was a big Ping fan. And then something weird happened. I had been struggling with hitting iron shots fat for the last few years but I never took offset into account. Last winter I had some extra cash and the Taylormade SLDR irons looked like something I might like even though I was never a huge fan of TM. The SLDR's have very little offset but I bought them because they were shiny with a fairly thin topline. My fat shots went away the first round I played them. I figured it was just a honeymoon period but it wasn't. The difference in offset between my Ping ISI's and G5's and the SLDR's is huge and since switching I've probably hit a half a dozen fat shots this whole year. Just because of less offset. So if I ever gave anyone here a hard time because I thought you were full of crap about your precious offset...... I apologize.

Better ways of practicing. And netting better results because of my new routine.

Bottom line - even if you are "good" at this game you can always get/be better.

I used to think the average player hit his driver about 220, but now I know average is about 310.

LOL...you stole mine. I've learned that I'm the only golfer who doesn't routinely drive it three hundo.

I've also learned that my non-"tour issue" clubs are almost worthless.

I used to think that there wasn't any golf website anywhere made up of regular people who love golf, not run by a few know-it-alls, where you could learn, have fun, share ideas, get a little crazy, get fabulous tips to help your game, get solid info about equipment, and everything else golf... well I didn't think there was one, and then I found WRX..sorry that wasn't one thing... how about Dorothy clicking her ruby heals together and saying "there's no place like WRX"

Just a few things:

All golfers are created equal. We are not. There is not one swing solution, one mental thought or one club fix for the masses.
We as individuals need a personalized combination.

Ending a sentence with a preposition is not correct but is okay under certain circumstances.

The Black Eyed Peas have zero talent. It's been my opinion since the Super Bowl a few years back - just thought I would share.
I can't stand them.

I used to think I was at least better than the average Joe public player, but now I know I'm just a bottom-sucking 12.

With insight from some really smart people on WRX, I've learned that there are too many old wives tales taken as gospel about club repair.

I learned that some folks wax their driver.

I learned that some golfers actually believe that a "brush tee" is good for an extra 7 yards.

I learned that there really is a difference in shoe laces and you should have the proper laces for your shoes.

I learned that not all people believe golf clubs are simply implements for whacking at the dirt, but you can use iron covers and pretend you're a picker and never hit the dirt with your clubs.

I learned that mid-handicappers are more concerned with their belt matching their shoes and wearing the right logo, than anything else.

I learned that mid-handicapper know it alls, are the most intolerable and delusional folks in golf.

Mostly, I learned the power of mass marketing and merchandising. Everyone wants the latest and the greatest, regardless of whether last year's were just as good, if not better than this year's.
Last week was a good week, this upcoming week, well, I've got a chemo and a surgery so it's gonna be a long week.

The bottom left picture in my avatar was taken last week at the hospital when Maddie brought Ava in to have lunch with me in the cafeteria. I've never been so happy to eat crappy hospital cafeteria food. Haha. It's amazing how little things like a little girl giving me a hug and whispering into my ear "I Love You" can make a s***** week into a great week.

I hope that you and yours are well.

Thoughts & Prayers Bro,
Richard

I learned that there are HUNDREDS of people on WRX who routinely have swing speeds that the PGA tour players envy, and that more people hit their 7 iron "180+" than hit it between 140 and 160.

I also learned that the folks here are quick to get behind a fellow WRXer who has been wronged in a BST transaction.

Oh, and that TurboPepper is awesome...
