Most versatile lob wedge?

Looking to remove my 58* 12 bounce and 64* 6 bounce and replace them with one wedge that I can hit both full shots with and open up the face for touch lobs and hardpan around the green. Currently the sole grind and high bounce on the 58 doesn't allow me to really lay it open and the low bounce and sole grind of the 64 lends to hitting under the ball and chili dipping full shots. Am I asking too much ?

I like the older X Forged Callaway and the OG Eye2+ or for conforming I'd say the new PM grind if you can handle the look. Also last years Callaway MD are great and spin a ton, at least in the right hands!

Any ATV grind TM lob wedge is going to be plenty versatile. I haven't tried the new EF wedges, but the Tour Preferred is great.

I second the Taylormade ATV grind. I use a 58 degree ATV wedge the most for all sorts of shots.

I alternate between my Callaway X-Forged 64 degree PM wedge that can spin and stop on command.

This is going to be different for everybody, but based on what you describe, I'd say a 60* mid bounce wedge would work well. I play Vokey M grind wedges and find them to be very flexible for my swing which is on the steep side (not completely steep, but I definitely take a divot) and the course conditions that I typically encounter that are medium to firm.

I was a wedge whore while looking for my current wedges... JPD market, titleist, cleveland, mizuno, cally, custom grinds, blah blah blah and FINALLY settled on the ATV grinds. Only retail grind that can play in most any condition/situation IMHO. I actually made a pretty detailed post about this a while back because I was playing (and still do play) all up and down the east coast and couldn't find any wedges to handle the different conditions.

Are you steep or shallow? You did mention Hard Pan, so I am guessing you need a lower bounce, but do you want to play those shots with a square face or slightly open?

Without those questions answered, I would say the best Lob wedges with versatile grinds from both square and open are:

A wedge that tends to go by under the radar is the Cobra Tour Trusty. I picked up a 58* k-grind blemish for cheap to mess around with and it was a pleasant surprise.

I went at lunch today and was looking at current stock offerings from GG. It's down to the Callaway C-grind or a TM ATV. I've hit the ATV's before in a set of rental clubs on vacation this summer. Was really impressed at how easy they were to adapt to various conditions. I like how the leading edge sits flat on both the ATV and the C-grind, that's probably my first concern.

Scratch 8620 58* wedge. I use DS grind. Wedge can do it all (bunker, chip, pitch, flop, full, etc.). Pretty inexpensive on eBay too. I originally got mine from Patrick at Scratch. Liked it so much I bought 2 more heads for backup. They're super durable as well.

I second the Vokey SM5. Find the right bounce , grind combination and you will be pretty satisfied.. Also Cleveland has some great wedges with plenty of options..

Got a 58* ATV head on the way , I figure if I don't like it around the greens I can play it for the 60 to 85 yard shots and keep the 64* for lobs.

Another vote for the original TM ATV wedge with the wide sole. Currently have the 52 and 58deg darker Carbon Steel version. The 58deg is indeed versatile in the bunker and turf - easy to manipulate the face as needed. And offers forgiveness when chipping off tight lies as the sole just glides rather than chunk.

I can do just about anything with my Scor 59*. Hard to find now, but the new Hogan wedges are supposedly nearly identical in terms of grind, head shape, etc.

I've always found that anything with a P or M grind is pretty good around the greens on a variety of shots.

Here's a surprise/off the radar wedge.....found a 2010 Adams puglielli forged black oil can 60 with 8* bounce that has a K/M mix like grind.....easy off tight lies yet superb from sand.....20 bucks new at local Edwin Watts was the best part! Feels and looks incredible. I do have a sm5 S grind 54* but my 60 feels ever so slightly better...

I always found the original Cleveland 588 Tour Action 60* wedge to be pretty versatile. Although it technically has a low bounce when measuring the angle straight from the leading edge to the trailing edge, there is actually a significant amount of camber on the sole which seems to allow it to play well from a variety of lies for me. Probably more of a longtime comfort thing for me. Others might find differently.

Love the TM ATV's. I have four ATV lob wedges--the original, carbon steel original, TP and EF. Currently have the EF 60* in the bag, and it is terrific for chips, pitches, bunker shots and full shots.

ATV and the Callaway PM. I just moved from the ATV to the PM as I liked the look and feel of the Callaway. Both great wedges. I would give the ATV the advantage from the fairway though.

I have a Ping Tour Gorge in 60 thin sole. I put the new Dyla wedge grip on it. Works great for short pitches,full hits, flops anything I ask of it it does. The new Glides are supposed to be better. Hard to believe with how well the Gorge works.

Callaway X forged 64 degree wedge with oversized Winn wrap. I hit this club 80 yards and in. I can pop it over a good sized tree 10 feet in front of me. There is nothing this club can't do. My playing partners call it my cheat club.

Still using old cally x-tour PM grind. No problem opening face about 45*

If looking for a new wedge, I would try the ping glide with ES grind that has the concave look of the cally PM.
