Billy Horschel entered the final round sharing the lead with Rory McIlroy on -9, with Jim Furyk two strokes back. Horschel shot a 68 to win by three strokes over McIlroy and Furyk, and win the FedEx Cup.

Jim Furyk has withdrawn. At present the TOUR has not announced new/revised pairings.

 

Only three times has the player who ranked #1 on the FedEx Cup points list heading into the TOUR Championship gone on to win the FedEx Cup, and not since 2009.

 

The TOUR Championship debuted in 1987 as the Nabisco Championship. Only two players have won it twice, Tiger Woods and Phil Mickelson

 

WEATHER FORECAST

 

According to Weather Underground, it should be cloudy with occasional showers for most of Thursday and all of Friday, with high temps in the low 70's and breezes of 10-15 mph.

 

The precipitation should abate over the weekend, with skies remaining cloudy, and the breezes lessening just a tad. Temperatures will remain in the low 70's.

In fairness, Henrik was quick to point out that it is also possible to become the #1 player in the world without winning a tournament.

Should be a great end to the season with so many big names firing on all or nearly all cylinders. Some inclement weather might make it a bit more interesting. East Lake has some history but is in my opinion a very average course. Friend of mine played it 2 years ago and said it was a very poor relation to Atlanta Athletic Club and some of Georgia's other premium courses. Nice touch to bring in a marker instead of a player on his own.

So who are the Tittleist staffers there this weekend, play a fair amount of European tour?

This feels like the super bowl (which is the only game I watch, I am not a football guy, I know the FXC is 4 rounds but), last tournament for all the $$$, I like Day, Spieth and we all know Rory can turn it on so any of the top 10 guys are good bets, it is exciting to see who is going to play the best...

The "lone" player usually has the option of playing alone with just a marker or requesting a non contestant player to play along. In this case since HM is in the middle of the field, he probably requested a player. Tomorrow, the "lone" player will be at the front of the field, so whoever it is may decide to go alone as speed of play will not be an issue (and if the weather is bad may want to get out of the rain as quickly as possible).
