What do you think is the best golf course in the state of TX?

No doubt conditions play a part in the way I view a golf course. Like I said I played tournament course a couple weeks before the tournament and it was pristine. I loved it.

Palmilla Beach is fantastic! Used to be Newport Dunes but Troon Golf bought it and now has some real backing. Great track and about as far away from a "Texas" course as you can get.....great course!!

yeah man. I play it quite often living close by and been playing it since it opened some years back. GREAT course and an Arnold Palmer design too. if anyone is down here, I would highly recommend it. they also have a great grill, fish and chips is my favorite. head over to the beach once your done or any local spot for lunch.

What happened to a few of the fairways on the front 9. They're repairing them but it looks like a lot of dead grass on 4 holes caused by something. Great layout though.

TPC San Antonio Oaks Course is by far the nicest in Texas. Played it on July 4th last year and practically had the entire course to myself along with tournament conditions. Beautiful scenery with Animals, deer, longhorns etc. Greens were lightning fast, and fairway/tee box grass was perfect.

Webb Hill in Wolfe City.

 

Played there many times since I live down the road and I enjoy it. Course could be awesome if the fairways ever looked and played like good fairways. The lack of water hurts that course.

Got to play Boot Ranch this weekend and it immediately moved into my top 5. Incredible experience.

Boot and Cordillera Ranch probably can't be beat

My top 2 would be La Cantera Palmer course, and The Old American. Both make you think about your shots, giving you a couple options many times. Golf club of Houston Tournament Course is fun if you catch it a bit before the tourney but it's just an average course. Of course, I'm a fan of most Palmer courses and will curse Pete dye when playing his, although I enjoy playing them.

The only public in the Top 20 is all the way out in Big Bend, and only three in the Top 40.

Played summit rock recently, I thought it was great layout. I would say colonial, whispering pines, summit rock and Carlton woods fazio are the best I have played.

of the public or resort i have played in texas i would say LA cantera palmer or barton creek canyons. I am moving to altus oklahoma in july so dallas is only 3 hours away so looking forward to playing in forth worth and dallas after that

summit is a good course and has some great holes but it has some awful par 4's mixed in as well

 

escondido is the clear leader in the horsebay area and would be ranked higher in the state but brookhollow and colonial have traditional brands that keep their rankings elevated

Twin Lakes in Canton, TX is an incredible golf course. Tough to find, but they call it "Little Augusta" for a reason. Greens have more slopes and undulations than any course I have played. Always in great condition and absolutely gorgeous on every hole. I highly recommend Twin Lakes.

La Cantera is a fantastic course. I played there over memorial day weekend. The staff treats you very well. At the end of your round they cleaned your clubs, give you an ice cold wet towel that is infused with oranges, and bring your clubs to the front. They have showers to clean up afterwards. TOP NOTCH!
