Obscure Annoying Shaft Fitting Question

Have been swinging a 60 S diamana ahina ion plated real deal blah blah in a 910d3 and then into a 915d3. I understand this shaft to be basically a fancy whiteboard. I like it.

BUT then I came across a kiyoshi black 65 05 flex at a good price. Had a spare OEM Titleist adapter and had someone swap it on there.

The dispersion on the oban is much tighter than I get with the diamana and if there is a material decrease in distance I am not noticing it. My misses cause too much spin so the Oban is sort of nice with that too, but I think the shots I hit while making actual golf swings are a little bit too low/low for their own good. They go far but I'm sure they're not optimal.

Here's the actual question(s): What shaft fits between these? Do I try something in an X with a little higher launch than the black kiyoshi? X flex whiteboard? Or something more like an AD DI in x? I'm no mythical beast....maybe 115 on a good day with a medium tempo. Are Obans soft relative to other brands?

the right shaft for you fits your 1) shaft weight feel preference, physical strength and how you use your strength ie transition/tempo then 2) head weight feel preference and 3) swing speed, +/- 10mph for transition/tempo = recommended shaft swing speed rating + release point (ex early release= soft tip section) then flex feel preference. Shafts are very personal.

It all takes trial and experimentation to find the right combination that allows improved rhythm, swing timing and from that max. swing speed and a higher % of on-center hits....all without thinking about it.

According to the EI profiles and shaft data from the cool clubs S3 app, the Kioshi Black 65 X is a significantly stronger shaft than the Ahina 65 S the base butt freq is 5.4 for the Ahina vs 7.6 for the Kioshi Black. The EI profile shows the Kioshi Black to be much stronger in butt and tip.

Just a quick look shows the Kioshi Gold 65 X provides a middle ground between the two, with a base butt frequency of 6.6 and an EI profile that splits the two.

I am sure there are many more options as well.

There are a significant number and variations of shafts properties that could be considered "between" those two. There is no short-cut, the only way you are going to get a good answer is to go out and try different options.

The Koshi profile has a stiff butt and tip, but soft in the middle. A somewhat odd profile. I don't think it's a reasonable approach to try to split the difference between these two shaft profiles.

First, I agree with everyone on, it's a matter of taste. I always compare it to wine. You can compare a Chardonnay to a Merlot but what would be the point? And you can compare a Merlot to a Merlot but you better get down to the nitty gritty like Dave is trying to do for you.

To Dave: do you think it would do him justice to try a kiyoshi black 65 04 S instead? Seems like it would be a little bit higher in areas than the ahina but not current overkill like the 05 X.

OK I realize now it's probably not as simple as 'between' these two. Fair enough.

Basically I am liking the dispersion of the kiyoshi. I was hesitant to go to an x but it doesn't feel too boardy at all. I just want a touch more launch and spin out of it. Is that a better way to set up the question?

I was tinkering with a Black Kiyoshi instead of my normal Rogue in a 915 D3. One thing I found with the black is that I needed to raise my driver a degree to start launching it at a playable height. The shaft just feels like it causes me to catch everything low. I finally settled on a Speeder Tour Spec 7.2. I can go after it more than my Rogue 60x and the dispersion is tighter.
